While I am unsure about the genre description of "Historical Fantasy" the purpose and follow-through of the novel were respectable. King Sejong rightfully is portrayed as a genius sovereign and his character is written alluringly as a renaissance man of the ages. Narratively, it can be somewhat jarring when a story set in the 1440's refers to future centuries through an omniscient point of view, yet the point is made that Sejong's impact spread centuries beyond his life. The dialogue which is TV script-esque, sacrifices elements of Confucian authenticity for readability.

The author asks for forgiveness at the beginning regarding some elements of Historicity and I am inclined as a reader to grant this. Firstly, the broad strokes are accurate and the core ambition of the novel is admirable and engrossing. The story of Sejong, the origin and brilliant creation of Hangul; these are tales worth exploring and in that regard I finished the final page with satisfaction.

Note: There are some spelling errors that should be fixed in any subsequent editions. One positive worth mentioning, the book cover is resplendent and the format of the novel "Creation" and "Promulgation" has a certain elegance that I found appealing.

I'm abandoning this book at page 100 because I have plenty more books I'd like to read and not only is this book not that interesting, the editing makes it unbearable to read.

Not only are there multiple spelling errors and missed periods, the sentences don't flow at all, leaving the reader to be jerked back-and-forth trying to simply understand what they're reading. This also leads to quite a number of sentences that are not even proper sentences.

"His joints ached from yesterday's all-day and all-night event. Which he hid as best he could. Lest any hint of discomfort let alone infirmity prompt a nagging lecture from the eunuch."

"The face was a mask of carved wood--staring eyes, gaping mouth, rosy cheeks--worn by a female shaman--a Mudang. As she gyrated in a small spiral across the dirt floor, reciting an off-kilter chant. As Sejong's eyes..."

I worried that this would be a self-serving book, something hastily written and produced for an audience that would hopefully overlook the editing mistakes for the lackluster imagined story of King Sejong, and unfortunately, I seem to have been right.

Hangul made us doing well communicating people with in texts.

I glad when i found this novel. I admire king Sejong with this book writer.

Actually we lose everything by korean war but my parents generation recreated everything here in my nation.
Hangul given the lot of power to people here.
Now we can transfer meaning as orders and descriptions and otherthing on the text only in hangul within correctly. It is power what is korean rebuild everything from nothing.
