Will he help in her hour of need? Or will he send her away?
Margaret Tanner is an award winning, best selling author.
As well as writing historical novels set in frontier Australia she has discovered a love for writing Western Romance. Her novella, Edwina of Connecticut is one of the 50 novels in the American Mail Order Bride series. Christmas Cowboy is in the Western Christmas Anthology, Silver Belles And Stetsons.
. She has had numerous short stories published over the years, but writing Historical romance novels is her passion.
Her favourite historical period is the 1st World War. Not only has she painstakingly researched this era, but was fortunate enough to make a poignant pilgrimage to the battlefields of Gallipoli (in Turkey), France and Belgium.
She is married with three grown up sons, and two gorgeous grand-daughters. Margaret lives in Australia. She has recently retired from work, and hopes to concentrate on her writing.
Ruth has had plenty of pain and disappointment in her life, but when the latest revelation becomes dangerous she has no choice but to run. Once again alone and desperate she worries it is going to be her end and your heart breaks for this woman who has fought so hard, for so long. She is far stronger than she realises, but it is her compassion and understanding that wins Tyler's heart. Tyler was tortured in a way few could ever understand, being a prisoner in a war camp is horrific for anyone, but for a doctor trying to help and save the other prisoners, each loss of life chipped away at his self confidence and took a part of his soul. He has returned home but is just existing, not living. Until Ruth cashes into his soddy, and he has no choice but to help her and nurse her back to health. Seeing these two broken people begin to heal and discover just how beautiful love is when given freely and nurtured is lovely. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Ruth is pregnant, and also a new widow. She ends up staying with a wealthy lady as a companion of sorts. In the meantime, she decides to become a proxy bride just to make sure her future is secure, as the lady and her household will be leaving for Europe soon to be with her husband. Ruth soon realizes there is a nefarious reason the woman has taken her in and as soon as she gets the chance, she escapes to where her proxy husband is.
Tyler made a stipulation in the marriage agreement that he and his wife will never meet. Imagine his surprise when she ends up at his mountain home…
Absolutely loved the epilogue! Grouchy, hermit Tyler has a heart after all ❤️
Not dying at Andersonville was at times a longer sentence than being there. Dr. Tyler Dean was broken by the sights, sounds and memories of those he could not save, could not even help. He has fled to the wilds of Wyoming and become a hermit, estranged from all including his brothers. Ruth McNulty has been alone all her life, trained at the orphanage for a life in service, awaiting the birth of her baby in Boston. Circumstance brings these unlikely pair together. Margaret Tanner creates a story with realistic characters (yes, evil exists in the world, cloaked in kindness), humor, romance and mystery. You almost feel compelled to keep reading to find out what happens next.
This was a sweet little read. Ruth finds herself widowed and pregnant in Boston with no friends, meanwhile Tyler is on his ranch in Colorado suffering from PTSD. Tyler needs a wife to save his inheritance and Ruth needs money to try to raise her child. It’s a match made on Amazon, lol! This was a very quick(only 69 pages long), but sweet romance. It’s clean, no smut more then a few kisses between the married couple, but definitely could have been fleshed out into a MUCH longer story. If you’re looking for a book to completely read while waiting at the doctor’s office or the DMV… this is the one for you!
This book is a great short read! I did not expect the plot twist of the family wanting to steal her unborn child! I love that it's was fate! Tyler was exactly what she needed even when she didn't know him and had Becky! I feel like the birth and the aftercare was a little rushed but still very good! I love how Tyler just gave in and accepted his feelings and they became a cute happy couple! I also loved how the house and farm give little house on the prairie vibes 🤣! It was one of my favorite shows growing up!
I loved every page of this book and couldn’t put it down until I read the entire book. Very different book about a Proxy bride who had a horrible beginning in an orphanage. Then things got better or so she thought.Read this to find out the strange happenings and of course the great ending.
Could have been a great story, logistics were off a bit and the ending was rushed. My personal pet peeve was also triggered - bad birth information. Though with him being a surgeon, him having bad training is plausible. But why not have him learn good birth techniques from his Indian friends like he did the herbal stuff?!?
Both of the people who entered a proxy marriage had so much tragedy in their lives and encountered traumatic events that its amazing that they were able to overcome them.
This is a sweet storyline that I enjoyed. I liked the two leading characters, Tyler and Ruth. This is one wonderful story I wished would've been longer. It was that good. JudyE
Excellent storyline. I loved the characters, even the shifty ones. Lol. It's a quick read. It could have been richer if more developed. Otherwise a very sweet story. I enjoyed it. I hope you will as well. Happy reading! Lori 😺
Unique book. I liked the plot of this book. I liked how the story flowed. I thought there could have been a bit more of the "host family" but still a great book
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Unique slant; fabulous story. Love Tyler. Love the courage, smart-thinking, and swift action of Ruth. Didn't want it to end!!!!
