Varg and Halea call for a gathering of the wolves to battle against the looming threat, but does Halea truly have what it takes to become a Wolfmother?

A bit of an apology for waiting so long to read this book even though I preordered it the second I found out the much awaited last novel of the series was coming out. But better late than never and this book completely fulfilled everything I wanted!
The tormented tragic antagonist Anshar has been successfully trapped inside of a magical mirror where he is no longer able to kill priestesses or hear the Chaos voice. Despite this respite from the suffering he endured in the second book, he remains fully uncooperative with incoherent thoughts filled with jealousy and anger directed towards Halea (his love interest who friend zoned him) and Tiamet (the dragon goddess that ultimately condemned him to a life full of misery since the day he was born).
Halea is meanwhile trying to take her role as the Wolfmother more seriously by personally organizing the upcoming Spring Festival where alpha wolves from all of the 4 clans will be together for one very big gathering. While the alphas from the East and Northern tribes have already accepted her friendship, she has second thoughts regarding the new Southern tribe leader named Raoul who also happens to be Varg's cousin at the same time. Will he attempt to kill her like his predecessor Rafe? And what about the always hostile Eastern pack alpha Otsana? Will she ever forgive Halea?
To make things more interesting, Halea still ponders whether she should have a baby with Varg now that his super awesome treehouse is finished. She knows they would love their child very much, but after her troubled childhood living like an outcast, she doesn't want her child to suffer bullying from the pureblood wolves.
Varg has his own mental battle to overcome. After being warned by Corbin he was going to see Halea perish in the near future, he has to overcome the hatred he feels towards his emotionally abusive father and garner the strength to be strong for the upcoming convergence.
The story continues a lot of the unfinished loose ends from prior books such as Priestess Kalee's internal struggle to reject Favion's love because she doesn't want to outlive him to Rufus's increasingly desperate attempts to woo Priestess Samesa without revealing his true identity. Jance decides to stick around because she enjoys Halea's company and reveals the reason why she never had a half-blood child of her own, and we also get some very funny moments with the quirky northern elder Marrok driving Batsuba on the verge of a killing rampage for the sheer fun of annoying her.
As the upcoming Convergence is nearing, Halea must juggle between the massive changes in her life, her relationship with both Varg and Anshar, dealing with stronger demons and find the way to close the Chaos Dimension once and for all. If you are wondering whether there are still hot and steamy scenes with so much story going on, yes, Halea still finds the time to be intimate with Varg... and even makes a fool of herself getting drunk early in the book (much to Varg's amusement). The scenes are well-timed to go along with the ever darker plot without feeling like fan service while maintaining their mutually strong bond.
Most of the loose ends are tied up very nicely, I have started to really appreciate and even feel sorry for poor Otsana (the warning signs about her fate were hinted in book 2) and yes, several likeable characters will die in this book (I don't wish to spoil more though), but I feel like it was for the best at the end.
As the book wraps up very nicely, I kind of feel sorry to say goodbye to such a great and underrated story. I seldom encounter books that literally force me to keep on reading without any breaks in between because I can't put it down, and at 30% longer than book 2, I still managed to finish this book at an amazing speed which just proves how much I loved it. I really hope more people try this series because it is so underrated and worth reading!
Oh, there are some name typos in the book: Foalan, Drgaon, Ehtelwolf, Raul were some of the more recurring ones.
Wolfmother (Convergence Book 3) by J.M. Riddles is an amazing fantasy story to read. This is book number three in this fantastic series that I have read written by a brand new author for me. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy, paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A satisfying conclusion to a pretty solid fantasy romance trilogy. I loved Varg and Halea together and Lord Anshar as a tragic character was so interesting to read about. My only complaint is that this book was a little too long.
