Introduced in 'Flight of the Kingfisher', Alex Kelburn returns in another story about life, afterlife and in-between. A gifted psychic medium, his life purpose is to help people. People like young Flora, who has a story that must be told; Sylvia, in despair as she watches dementia take her husband's mind piece by piece; and Kallie, grieving for the grandparents who raised her and trying to find a way to reconcile with her mother. They can't speak to their loved ones through the veil... but Alex Kelburn can - he's been there himself. (NB This is a rewritten version of The Waiting Gate published in 201.)
I was gifted this book through Voracious Readers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having lost my Nan a few years ago, she had vascular dementia, I was really comforted by the thought that when she was 'away' she was actually with her husband-just waiting to be together again. All of the threads of the story tied up really well and I definitely shed a tear or two!
Very good account of what could possibly happen once you pass over to the otherside? What happens when dementia or alzheimer's takes hold, where do they go? Very interesting take on much debated subjects. Book given free via voracious readers.
This was something completely different for me but I was hooked on finding out more about the characters. It’s such a warming story as to what may be happening with dementia patients, I’d like to believe that this is exactly what’s going on when they “aren’t here”. You start out with, in a way, mini stories of different people where you find out about their past and present, but they are drawn together as the book progresses and everything ties in well. This really did tug at my heart strings in a few places but I found the way it was written realistic and whilst I may not have liked how some things ended up it’s what would happen in the real world (Kallie/Celia and Flora/Rachel).
*I received a complimentary copy of the e-book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.
I received this book free through the Voracious Readers website. Although this book contained many deaths and clairvoyance (which I usually avoid) i loved it. The characters were very believable and it was easy to read. I recommend this as sensitive , well written and a comfort to those recently bereaved.
I was gifted this brilliant book through the Vorachious readers website. It hooked me in with many believable characters. It starts by introducing them, before the narrative fits them together. Although about a difficult subject, handles it sensitively.
