Professor SJ Enna received his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Following postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, F. Hoffmann-LaRoche in Basel, and Johns Hopkins University, he served on the faculty at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, was Scientific Director of Nova Pharmaceutical Corporation in Baltimore, and then chair of Pharmacology and now Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. A neuropharmacologist, Professor Enna has been the recipient of grants and Career Development Awards from the National Institutes of Health and of awards recognizing his research from ASPET, American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, the PhARMA Foundation, and the European Pharmacology Society. Professor Enna has served as editor of numerous journals. He has held many elective offices including the presidency of ASPET, and as Secretary General and as President of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR). He has published over 200 articles and authored, edited or co-edited over four dozen books in the field.
