Coming Home

Rate this book
Luke Whittaker and Evelyn Young were high school sweethearts who had their whole lives together mapped out: they'd live on his family ranch while he worked and she studied, and then marry and raise a family.

Their plans came to a screeching halt one winter’s night when a tragic accident claimed not only the lives of her parents, but also the life Evie had envisioned with Luke. Unable to cope with her grief, she fled their small town in the Colorado mountains, leaving Aurora Springs – and Luke – behind her.

Years later, another death in the family finally brings her home. Evie is once more plunged into mourning but being around Luke again makes her feel truly alive for the first time in years. Can he convince her to come home and begin the life together they'd always dreamed about, or will she let her fears and doubts destroy her heart for good?

My first Lissanne Jones book!

I was browsing my Kindle library looking for my next read and saw I had this book. I don’t remember when I purchased it but being a fan of small town romances, I jumped right in. And overall, I liked it.

I especially liked Luke’s character right from the very beginning. He was all country boy and I was allll for it. I had a few issues with Evie’s character, but nothing too serious…she just wasn’t my fave. I didnt really care for how she reacted to things sometimes. Cody, Luke’s twin, added some light-hearted humor to the storyline and I am interested in how his book will unfold next.

This was my first book by this author and while her writing was great, the story just didn’t have me fully invested. It did have good moments sprinkled here and there but I felt like there wasn’t a lot going on. All in all, I liked it and would still recommend it. Definitely a “feel good” book.

ARC REVIEW

Ahh my heart. Two hot, sweet, funny cowboys. YES PLEASE! The Whittakar brothers own my heart! This book was such a beautiful second chance romance, that had my heart swooning, not to mention my kindle steaming! This author has once again stolen my heart with her words. I could not put it down from that very first page, I laughed, I cried, I swooned. There was nothing about this book that I didn't like.

Luke was such a sweetheart! And when you got him behind closed doors....well he can dirty talk for me any day, just saying! I love the person that he is, he has so much love to give. His relationship between him and his brother is sweet, I love how close they are. Evie was just plain adorable. Sweet to everyone around her, sassy, and perfect for Luke.
Cody made me laugh SO much. I was in stitches in some of his scenes. I can't wait to read his story!

This book is about finding your way home, and following your heart. I loved every second of it. It was lowish drama, sexy as hell, and heartwarming. I highly recommend.

Captivating Book.

I love this book immensely and if I could live in Aurora Springs I would. Reading Luke & Evie’s story I experienced anger, laughter & sadness (not in that order). The relationship sizzles between Luke & Evie from the first chapter and grows as the book progresses.

A must read for all romance book lovers.

I love cowboys and Lissanne Jones created the perfect one in Luke Whitaker (and maybe his twin, Cody). Set in Aurora Spring, Colorado, Ms. Jones takes the reader on a rather bumpy trail of love, loss, and eventually a swoon-worthy HEA for Luke and Evie. Add to all of that the fact this is a second chance romance and it's easy to see why a reader is transported into the story.
Evie and Luke were high school sweethearts on their way to planning a full life together in Aurora Springs, until tragedy upended Evie's life. Unable to cope with the loss of her parents, Evie went to Texas to finish college and the couple tried the long-distance relationship thing. After a year, the arrangement no longer worked and Evie lost her future with Luke too. Fast forward six years and Evie is back in town to bury her grandfather and take care of his estate.
Just like he was before, Luke is there to support Evie, and of course gossip in a small town has the couple reunited and married off in their minds upon her arrival. The couple fights the attraction that still burns in their hearts and from that Ms. Jones builds a story of reconnection, friendship, and love between the couple. And the sexy times with the couple are HOT, along with the infamous shower scene which if fun and flirty. Ms. Jones then adds in the rest of Luke's family, and their friends, and let's not forget the mischievous twin, Cody, and life seems perfect. Until it's not. Then the author really puts the couple through the wringer and more heartache before they reach their final destination: HEA in Aurora Springs.
So grab a comfy seat, something warm to drink because it's cold in Colorado this time of year, and don't let the stray ghost chase you off from this satisfying read. Enjoy!

This was the first Lissanne Jones book that I've ever read and I loved it from the very beginning. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance and she delivered!

This story was beautifully written and the love between Luke and Evie was so heartfelt. They are two people who love each other deeply, but life has thrown some major curveballs at them (Evie in particular) that pushed them apart. Their journey back to each other is filled with ups and downs that push them to really examine their lives and future together. I want to say a lot more, but I also don't want to spoil the book.

Overall, excellent book, and I highly recommend it! :)

Romantic, steamy second chance read

From the word go, Author Lissanne Jones dropped her readers into an intense moment of grief for Evelyn Jones as she returned to her home town in this second chance romance. She writes books that come to descriptive life, full of feeling without the onerous use of verbiage that makes it seem like the book drags on forever. I was so engrossed that before I knew it, I was over half way and stampeding towards the end. My heart went out to Evelyn straight away, all while I wondered how she could have broken both her own and her gorgeous ex-boyfriend’s hearts by up and leaving town in such a sudden and final move six years ago.

Ms Jones has written us a treat in hot and sexy cowboy mirror twins Luke and Cody Whittaker. They are identical opposites in personality, but close in their love and support for each other, so the witty banter between them provided for many humorous exchanges throughout the book. This has to be one of my favourite aspects of the story.

And steam!! Holy sauna batman, Ms Jones gave us plenty of hot and steamy moments between newly reconnected Evelyn and Luke, and my overly soft romantic heart adored every moment. There was plenty of plain old love, friendship, and gorgeous romance between these two, but the chemistry between them was so strong it was palpable. While it wasn’t a short read, I was so engrossed in the small-town interactions and relationship dynamics that the book just seemed to disappear!!

Thankfully, she’s left breadcrumbs leading on to the next one so I’m now waiting with bated breath.

Meanwhile, I’m all about the 5 stars for this one!!! 💞

One thing is for sure, tissue is required while reading this book. I am not an emotional reader, but holy cow did this story due me in. . . And I loved it. I love feeling so invested in the characters and feeling the happy and sad, the desire and regret, and all the losses and gains. It truly speaks to the authors incredible story that it makes the reader feel so much by the mere words that are laid out.

I dont think I could ever forget Evie or Luke. . . And definitely not the naughty twin Cody. Evie had so much loss and bravely made a new start, but coming back home was difficult. . . Especially when her first love Luke was there to help her through another heart-breaking and life changing hiccup to life. I think I started rooting for Evie and Luke from chapter 1, to just get together already and make it work. . . And in the end I did get the HEA I wanted, but it came with a bumpy and winding road littered with tissue and chocolate wrappers.

So if you dont mind feeling a little emotional and clutching your chest from some of the sweetest moments, or snickering at witty banter, and even gulping down some really cold ice water after some super hot scenes, and still get the perfect Hallmark HEA . . . Then this is your book!

If you are looking for a feel good story about second chance love, which includes a hot cowboy, then this story is for you! The story of Luke and Evie will just melt your heart!

These two had a relationship in the past, but something happens and Evie needs to make a new life for herself and leaves her hometown. Years later, Evie comes back to take care of a family matter. She wants to see Luke, but isn’t sure of his feelings for her. Can he ever forgive her? When Luke hears that Evie is back in town, he is determined to win her back. But can they pick up from years ago?

I truly enjoyed these characters. Luke is someone who will do anything for the ones he loves. He’s a hard worker, loves his family and wants Evie back. As for Evie, she is a breath of fresh air. I could see being friends with her in real life. And don’t get me started on their chemistry! Absolutely sizzling! There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t love about this book. It will make you laugh, make you cry and make you believe in love. I highly recommend this book!

Second chance, small town romance. Guaranteed HEA

This book is just incredible!!!!!

Evie and Luke believed they were meant to be together forever, but then Evie’s life changed dramatically and she left town to escape the memories, leaving Luke behind. Years later she’s drawn back to her small town, and to Luke.

Lissanne Jones has this amazing ability to create characters that you fall in love with from the very beginning. Luke and Evie are no exception. I mean, how can you not love a romantic, sexy cowboy? Their relationship is so real and honest and I love how they’re able overcome the events of the past and find their way back to each other. Luke’s family, especially Cody, are amazing and it’s great to see how they embrace Evie when she comes home.

I love this book so much and I can’t wait to read the next book to see more of these characters and see Cody fall in love.

Coming Home will have your feelings hit you like a tidal wave as you fall in love with this second chance romance. Luke and Evie are so stubborn and get in their own way of their happiness. You will want to strangle them as much as you will root for them to find their way back home to each other. The banter between Luke and his twin, Cody, will have you laughing out loud and swooning so hard. You need to read this book for the t-shirt, the hot springs, the shower, the cowboy hat and Cody. Who wouldn’t want to save a horse and ride their own sexy cowboy for the rest of their life. This sweet and sexy story will remind you that there truly is no place like home when you have the love of your life by your side.

Luke and Evie are the heart of Lissanne Jones latest story Coming Home. As young lovers, they planned a bright future together until senseless tragedy snatches Evie's parents from her. Unable to heal and work past her grief, Evie and Luke part ways. Time and distance kept them apart until another tragedy once again intervenes. This is a story that is beautiful in it's simplicity and will be sure to win new fans over. Lissanne Jones brings a clear and authentic voice to romance. She makes the ups and downs of everyday life beautiful and deeply moving. I am so excited to read more by this author.

Lissanne Jones has an exquisite ability to create a world and draw you in. She is a master with characters. The plot is straight forward and i love how there is an emotional connection from the start.
This is her fourth book and like her previous books she has made me feel. I cried. I lost my grandmother when I was 15 and I was so able to relate to Evie.
The best part about Lissanne is she is also able to make me laugh with her wonderful touches of humour.
I really love HEA and feel satisfied the conclusion was neatly tied up with a bow.
The kinky moments were, fanning myself, HAWT!

Luke and Evie's story was simply all-consuming. I read this straight through as I just couldn't put it down. Their story had me feeling a wide range of emotions and even had me crying at times. Plus, the chemistry between them was sizzling hot! I was so invested in these two and honestly felt as if I was in the book living right alongside of them, experiencing everything that they were. This was my first read by this author and I'm hooked! I'm off to read more of her books.

Coming Home
Lissanne Jones
Luke was the sweetest gentleman cowboy you could ever meet, he worked on the family ranch and was well rooted in Colorado. His twin Cody was funny and sweet, a deputy sheriff. I hope his story with Autumn is next.
Evie fled her home of Aurora Springs when her parents died in an accident. She left behind all that she knew including the love of her life. She finished college in Texas and made a new, successful life for herself in the city. She had to go back when her grandfather died.
A refreshing writing style that leads the reader through the story, a bit like a Morgan Freeman narration.
This is the first book in a new steamy series but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. A small town second chance romance set in beautiful Colorado.

Lissanne Jones has a way of grabbing your heart, and wrapping it up in love and sweet heartache in this real life romance. Coming Home is a story of loss and healing, sorrow and forgiveness, a good dash of heat and most importantly—second chances. Don't miss this well written start to the Being Home series.

Colorado lovin’ at its best!

Can you fall in love again with a man who owned your soul? Lissanne Jones does a wonderful job of bringing Evie and Luke back to life after they have parted ways. I immensely enjoyed this first book in this new series! It gave me butterflies to hope that Luck and Evie could Amy e find each other again. It was deep in the sense that there was loss, but there was so much love as well. I definitely did not want to leave Aurora Springs and it looks like I don’t have to because there is more on the way!

Insanely good

If I could rate this book with 100 stars I would. One warning tissue alert. It was such a wonderful story. I absolutely adore Luke and Evie and Cody was a hoot. Can not wait for his book. So many emotions in this story, from heartbreak to love and so very heartwarming. This author created characters that make you feel what their feeling and want to be apart of their family. Like I said tissue alert, I needed plenty of those. This book is one I highly recommend reading

What can I say? Lissanne Jones has done it again. Luke and Evie’s story is fantastic. It’s full of love, laughter, family and friends. I laughed at the banter between Luke and his twin Cody. I cried a few times too. This story is filled with emotion. I highly recommend this book. I give it more the five stars if I could

This book was a mixed bag for me, there was a lot I liked but also a lot I felt iffy about. I liked Luke and Evie together, it's difficult t explain but they had the high school sweethearts from a small town vibe to them. I liked that Luke was never a jerk to Evie for breaking up with him and not returning home until she had to (the bar is on the floor), and instead, he tells her that whilst he was angry in the past and heartbroken he has never hated her like she thought he would. I also liked how mature the two of them were about their relationship and their time apart. The details aren't given but it's obvious that the two of them had other relationships when they were apart, and rather than feeling jealous Evie acknowledges that getting to explore with others and learn more about themselves has taught them that what they have is special and made them stronger than before. Honestly, I'm just really glad there was any petty ex drama that I kept expecting to happen.

One of the things I didn't like though was the inconsistencies in the writing, especially for the heroine. Like Evie says that the breakup was a mutual decision, but is then worried Luke is going to hate her for breaking up with him. From Luke's pov I don't think it's mentioned that it was mutual so the whole thing confuses me. There are also all the times the heroine thinks about how she needs to think about whether she is going to stay in her home town or go back to her life in Houston, but then she never does and instead stresses about the decision. On one hand, she doesn't want to give up her job and friends and the life she has built for herself just for Luke, but on the other hand, she doesn't want to leave her home town or try long-distance. I just wish she would make a decision or talk to Luke about it rather than spend the majority of the book stressing about it but not doing anything.

Overall, this was an enjoyable book even if certain elements felt all over the place. There were some scenes we get told about rather than experiencing ourselves that should have been written out because they were important, so this did feel half done at times.

I felt no spark from this book or the characters. Luke and Evie were high school sweethearts who were on the path to their HEA when Evie tragically lost her parents. She gets so lost in her grief that she breaks up with Luke and moves away for several years even though he could have helped her with that grief. She regretted that decision so much but never thought to reach out to him to make amends or rekindle their romance until she’s forced to return home. Even then she is so back and forth that it got really old. The story dragged on and felt super repetitive in parts but they do finally get their HEA at the end. I did find the backstory of Luke’s ancestors to be interesting and I have Cody’s book which I think I might like more but we’ll see.

This is the first book of Lissanne Jones' that I've read and I can tell you, it won't be my last!

I really enjoyed this book and meeting the Whittaker boys. Sexy cowboys and a second chance at love, what more could you ask for? It's full of emotion and expectation, not to mention happiness. Pure, unadulterated happiness! Reading this made me cry in sadness, and frustration, but it also made me laugh.

It also made me happy. Bring on Finding Home because I can't wait to find about what the Whittakers get up to next!
