Fang Fang's diary presents viewpoints that contradict the official narrative, which has led to strong criticism from certain individuals. They accuse her of deliberately spreading falsehoods, inciting panic, and handing a "knife" to "foreign forces." However, I believe that anyone with a conscience and common sense who has read Fang Fang's diary would not agree with these accusations (yes, those critics lack brains and morals). Fang Fang indeed offers a different perspective, showing us information that differs from the official media, but she does not solely focus on the hardships of the pandemic. Her diary not only criticizes bureaucracy and deceit but also highlights mutual aid and warmth among the people.
The claim that she is "handing a knife to foreign forces" is absurd and laughable. Such statements are essentially a suppression of freedom of speech, promoting an authoritarian view that only allows for praise. To illustrate, consider present-day North Korea, where citizens' freedoms are restricted and the country is a black box to outsiders. There, no one dares to "hand a knife to foreign forces," but how is North Korea's reputation viewed externally? Even many Chinese people see North Korea as a joke.
Very powerful words. Written at the exact right time. Looking back from 2 years later, I don't believe anything has changed, especially given what happened in Shanghai recently. I hope we learn lessons, but I'm increasingly negative that we will never.
