This book is a great resource for homeschooling or giving kids extra practice and learning reinforcement in a creative and fun way.
When I was in grade school, I loved the year when we studied the 50 states. This would have been a perfect book to accompany that and can certainly be used if you are homeschooling your child because of the current global situation or otherwise. Each state is given two pages. The first page shows the shape of the state as a large illustration and gives the state motto, mammal, bird, and what the state is known as, e.g., the Constitution State. This page has items to color: the state outline, flower, and mammal The next page gives further facts like population, major cities, and the region the state is in. Also on this page is a word search with words that have to do with the state, like the cities, its weather, or other snippets of information. They provide a map of the entire United States with the given state highlighted. For younger kids, this book could just give them some extra facts about the states and items to color. For older kids, it could be a springboard to investigate more about a particular state or one of its cities. If your child has an interest in the states of the United States or you would like to foster such an interest, this book could be the perfect way to introduce your child to lots of fun state facts.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
