Honey, We Missed Our Honeymoon

Rate this book
Malorie Meyers has a wedding dress in her closet. The cleaners did an amazing job, considering the condition it was in on Malorie’s wedding day.

The other guests at the B&B where Malorie takes her honeymoon keep asking why she’s there alone. It’s a long story, she tells them, then she makes an excuse to not tell it.

Now there’s a new man in Malorie’s life. He’s perfect. Even his dog is perfect. There’s just one problem. He thinks the wedding dress in the closet belongs to Malorie’s best friend.

What’s he going to do when he finds out Malorie lied? And what’s Malorie going to do when she finds out his big secret?

There are plenty of LOLs and exciting moments to swoon over on Malorie Meyers’ bumpy journey toward love.

Angie Pepper has started a new romance with Marlorie and Sasha. Marlorie has been in a long term relationship with Lars. On their wedding date, Lars doesn't show. Marlorie goes on the honeymoon alone. With the help of the owners of the bed and breakfast she';s staying at, she meets a young man getting ready to celebrate his twenty first birthday. After a fling, Marlorie returns home with Shawn's chihuahua. Having the small dog gets Marlorie out and about her neighborhood. While shopping at a local store for dog food, a strange Russian leaves the store and walks off with Marlorie's Princess. She chases after them and she rescues Princess.

Marlorie believes that her relationship with Lars will start again, that he only got cold feet the day of the wedding. They have broken up before and gotten back together. She keeps her wedding dress hanging in a closet in her apartment with this idea in mind - she and Lars will get married.

Marlorie and Princess meet up with the Russian again and he is the CEO of a ice cream company in town marketing new ice creams. He also has a chihuahua, Duke. They meet in the local dog park at night slowly building a friendship. Sasha, along with Marlorie's friends at work and local store, help Marlorie move from the stagnant relationship with Lars to developing her own interests and group of friends.

I enjoyed this story as it a simple one yet very profound in following the growth of Marlorie into an self-confident woman with help from her friends, her dogs and new love interest. In difficult situations, she finds the strength to move forward and fight for what is hers. She even learns to release her past.

Angie Pepper is a favorite author and I love all her stories. Something I can't say about every author who writes different series that I have read. Each story is fresh, fun, sometimes pulling up tears but always with an ending that you are happy about.

This book was given to me by Booksprout to give my honest opinion of Angie Pepper’s latest, Honey, We Missed Our Honeymoon. I’ve read a number of Angela/Angie Pepper’s books and have enjoyed them all, but I hate to say it when I got the book for free and this is the first time I’ve been asked for a review, I just wasn’t too crazy about it.

It was like the book was several books in one. First section, Malorie is on vacation at a Bed & Breakfast in an ideal little town. Turns out she is on her honeymoon sans husband who left her at the altar (or rather he just didn’t show up). She meets cute with Shawn who works at his family-run ice cream store. Well, they have some good times for a while, before hitting the sack, which struck me as odd since she was still recovering from her non-wedding, but getting so cosy so quickly must have meant that Shawn was the hero in this book, right? Nope.

She leaves Shawn at the airport to return and, again, meets cute (He walks off with her dog, mistaking it for his.) with another good-looking guy, this American-Russian man who is also in the ice cream business. We then have a section of getting to know Sacha.

Then, Malorie starts to go after her former fiance, Lars. She’s mentioned and thought of him a few times, but after Shawn and then Sacha, I thought she was pretty well over Lars. Guess not.

After I finished the book, I found out it was, indeed, several stories that she had written some time ago put together. I do generally like Angie/Angela’s stories. There is usually a good amount of humor in them, along with cute animals and interesting situations which Honey, We Missed Our Honeymoon did have. This time, however, all the good qualities just couldn’t overcome the disjointedness of all the stories put together.

Thanks to Booksprout for the free book. Wish I could have given you a better review.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third installment in Angie Pepper's Clean Romantic Comedy series - however you can jump in here. There is a new cast of characters and relationships so no knowledge of prior books is required. There is a quick nod to the characters from the first two books but that is all it is.

What a night! Mallory was stood up at the altar and decides to go on her honeymoon anyway in hopes of reconnecting with her on-again off-again fiance. On the last night of her lonely trip she decides to on taking a chance with a young ice cream shop owner and his adorable dog. One thing leads to another and she's taken his dog back home with her.

This story is about trying to figure out when to let go, when to give things a chance and figuring out what you want. As always, Angie Pepper surrounds our heroine with a delightfully colorful cast. There is even some LGBT representation this time around from an adorable couple of older gentlemen.

The romance aspect is not as straight forward but it is endearing and hilarious. Especially the POVs from the dog.

Tiffany Williams voices this eclectic cast and gets to throw in several accents to book. She is always a joy to listen to.

This story will delight you with its charm, wit, humor, heart and a little bit of magic (not of the Wisteria variety)

I look forward to more stories in the world and hopefully get to see more of these characters in future volumes.

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:

It's book three in the series and I love this one best; it has all the elements I look for in a romance: likeable characters, a lot of warm humour and some surprises on the way to the happily ever after...:)

The starting point is quite sad: Malorie finds herself in a beautiful town, in a sweet B&B with two wonderful owners, on her honeymoon... The only drawback? She's there alone and unmarried - her husband-to-be left her at the altar... So, is she unhappy, is she in despair and heartbroken? You'd think she should be but... that's where the story turns into a completely unexpected direction and takes you on a wonderful ride along crazy Russians, kidnapped dogs, and vanishing wedding dresses:)

It's a kind of romance that will make you laugh a lot while still providing quite a few totally emotional moments...:) I think it's the best out of four I've listened to so far in the series.

Narration by Ms Williams is again fantastic. I especially like the way she reads the parts of the Russian characters:) But all the voices she does are great and match the characters perfectly. It's a great interpretation of the book.

DISCLAIMER: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The Baker Street novels are a series of books previously written but reworked with lots of changes. I remember this book starting off as a short story about a jilted bride and the ice cream guy. It is so much more now, new names and plenty of characters including two dogs. Malorie is quirky and adorable and more comfortable with herself than most of us will ever be. She’s actually stuck in a rut until she opens up to meet new people and move forward. I enjoy how none of the characters feel the need to be something they are not, they embrace what makes them unique. What makes me look forward to these books is that the actual couples take a normal and realistic route to their romance. The act of getting together won’t happen at 50%, it might not occur until 80% but their path is original and allows for what we hope is a lasting relationship. On a side note, I cannot remember anything risque other than a kiss and handholding, maybe some implied skinny dipping, which makes it perfect for anyone. While the books are around the Baker Street address the couples and characters may never collide and share pages, truly standalone books. I received an early copy from the author and am pleased to leave my review voluntarily.

Charming story. This book is about Malorie and her adventures/misadventures. A jilted bride who is actually very isolated and lonely emerging from a relationship where even her friends belonged to someone else. Going on her honeymoon by herself changes her life as she gradually learns to let other people in and allowing herself to have a little fun, in the shape of Shaun, a young entrepreneur. Shaun gives her his Chihuahua, a long-suffering dognapped victim, through which she'll meet her future husband, Sasha. Her life changes dramatically in a year. She is no longer the lonely, rejected girl without friends. Even her unused wedding dress will change someone else's life for the better. The storyline was written as a rather witty description of Mallorie's life with good use of the language, interesting dialogues and good editing. There is a HEA for the protagonists and many positive changes for her friends. The novel is a clean, feel-good story which I am happy to recommend.

A very sweet and romantic story of a jilted bride who went on her honeymoon alone, arrived sad and lonely, then went home happier and with a companion of the non human variety.

The story lets us follow along on Malorie’s journey of self discovery, finding friends, and learning to value herself. She meets lots of fun and interesting people along the way, including a sociopathic dog knapper. It’s fun seeing how the all fit into Malorie’s life and the changes they bring. I loved how Malorie wises up to the act Lars is playing and she gives him the boot just a few hours after he went running back to her.

Told from the unique third person past tense point of view, you can’t help but laugh out loud when Malorie talks to herself and when Princess does the talking. (Speaking of Princess, I don’t think I’ll ever eat a Twinkie again without thinking of her.) Once you’re done laughing, you’ll be swooning over the sweet and romantic gestures of Sacha or possibly reaching for tissues when your “allergies” act up at the tender moments.

This is a fun book with interesting characters and an entertaining story line. I have always enjoyed finding humor in a story, either just chuckling through some awkward situations or laughing out loud at the banter between the characters. This one tickled my funny-bone perfectly!

Malorie Meyers was a sweet person. When Albert at the B&B sent her to buy ice cream from Shawn, it was the right thing to do. Shawn enjoyed some light banter with her, since he knew her by now, and offered to give her a tour of the fun things locals did that tourists didn’t know about. When it was time for Malorie to return home, Shawn gave Princess, his Chihuahua, to her to be hers since the dog was so fond of her. Having the small dog will get Malorie out into the neighborhood to meet people. This is the beginning of her new confidence and growth, and she can finally get her ex out of her head and find someone worthy. Grab your copy and see if Malorie will find the happiness she deserves!

Malorie is staying at the Half-Moon B and B on what would have been her honeymoon. Malorie can't seem to let her fiance go. Malorie is encouraged to go about town where she has fun before she has to leave. Malorie is given a dog to take with her, to give it a better home. Malorie is doing better than she was. Someone tries to take her dog, she runs them down. Malorie runs into him again, they slowly start to build a friendship. Malorie's life takes a turn for the better but her life will go sideways.

This was a great book as the main character starts to rebuild her life and what she really wants in it. There will twists and turns for the character to overcome, makes the ending so much sweeter. This book will grab your attention and it will keep you reading. There is so much more to the story that I didn't write as it definitely would give away the story. I recommend reading this book

I love the writer’s past work in other genres. This one is not 100% my usual read but I did enjoyed it!
The characters are nice and relatable and I liked the entertaining story line. I love the humor Angela Pepper is always been able to put in her books and this one was no exception. I laughed a lot reading this one and can totally recommended it if you want to enjoy a romance novel with the necessary humor.
The book is about how the main character lost herself a bit due to her fiancé leaving her at the alter but still goes on her honeymoon. It’s a journey of trusting again and letting love back in. And that in life you need a good sense of humor and courage to get through it all. Even when you’re down you can find some light again. This time with the help of a dog and lovely B&B owners.

This is a charming book, following Malorie on a series of adventures and misadventures and ...dogknappings, more dog knappings than you could shake a stick at, or throw one for. The supporting characters, especially the inn keepers, Paul the accountant and Princess the Chihuahua (who is definitely a character in her own right) are brilliant, as is the ‘crazy Russian’. There’s the tiniest hint of magic/fantasy - so light that if that’s not your thing it’ll probably slip right past you; but if it is your thing, I highly recommend Ms. Peppers Angela (rather than Angie) Wisteria series too. This is the first I’ve read in this series and I’m looking forward to more.

I received this as an ARC to read and review. What a lovely and pleasant surprise this book was since I don't normally read or care for romance novels but I thought I'd give this one a try and absolutely fell in love with it.  First Malorie's groom and her friend Yuki don't show up for her wedding so Malorie decides to go on the honeymoon trip alone. It's there that she starts to mend her broken heart and along the way makes some really great new friends - Albert and Bryan and their Basset Hound Bingo. She also has a rendezvous with Shawn and ends up with his little Chihuahua Princess. Once she returns home she runs into a Sacha who tries to steal Princess. Along the way Malorie finds peace and a new love.

Malorie loses a man on her wedding day, goes to the B & B for the honeymoon alone, and meets a cute guy there. Too fast? They have a relaxing time seeing the sights and then she goes home with one of his dogs, Princess. Once back home, the chihuahua keeps her interacting with neighbors and strangers in the park. Now a russian guy is of interest. Wish she would get her head on straight and decided which way she is going to go, as she even starts to think about her ex again. The characters were quirky and fun. The storyline kept going with some fun times, but no direction for her. Loved a lot of the parts.

I've read other books by Angela Pepper, so I had an idea of what to expect. This was so not it! I mean, it was a great read as I expected, but different than the other books that I've read by her. This book would qualify as a cozy book and a contemporary romance. There were great characters and a storyline that is different than the ones I've read before. Here is my **SPOILER** I didn't like that the Russian guy also had an ice cream shop like her rebound did. But that is the ONLY thing that I could find negative about this book! If you're ready to laugh and swoon - this is the book for you!

This is a brilliant book. I instantly fell in love with the main character and the people she meets throughout the book. This book is good any age, and is an easy read. There are a set of books set in the same street/area where some characters overlap, but it can be read as a stand-alone. But I would definitely be reading the whole series. I have read a vast amount of this authors books and even though this is a different type of story line it is just as good as the rest.

A cute, well written romance. Interesting characters, some of who you'll love to hate but all these characters have great dynamics whether it be good or bad. Fun focus around Princess the chichaua and a cute doggie point of view inserted from time to time. Our main character Malory has incredible character growth which I absolutely loved. This is a clean, sweet, fun romance that will have you believing in a real HEA.

Audiobook review: Cute short story with a few unsuspected twists. Mallory, the leading character, grows socially with the help of a fur baby. She & Sasha have an interesting friendship start. The dog-napper side story and the perspective of Princess provided comedy. The wedding dress song was a nice addition. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. This is Honey, We Missed Our Honeymoon written by Angie Pepper. Malorie is a bride without a wedding but left with a non-refundable honeymoon. Between the honeymoon, her wedding dress and a brand new list of close friends is where this story takes place. Watch for cameos from the dress as loves are lost, love is found, love is no more and love is once again. Its a bit complicated and well worth the read!

You know a story is well told when your emotions are wrapped up in heroine’s. Whether she was embarrassed, sad, lonely, misunderstood or confused, Malorie had me hooked on her story from the first page. The laugh out loud bits are great too, or when I found myself grinning with pleasure for her happiness. If you enjoy a light, but twisty-turny romance you will love Malorie’s story.

Honey, We Missed Our Honeymoon was a good read by Angie Pepper. Calorie Meyers has a wedding dress in her closet and she is taking her honeymoon at a B&B. The other guests are asking her why she's alone. Calorie meets a new man and he's perfect and thinks the wedding dress in her closet is her best friends. But what happens if he finds out that she lied to him. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

I like the storyline. It’s not all over the top and you can see the evolution in the characters. My problem is more of the really neutral tones of the book , I was feeling like reading a newspaper. It even make the part who was supposed be funny , not be.

What a lovely story, fantastic characterisation, really felt involved with Malorie’s story, a fairytale of a story, full of fascinating sub characters, a beautifully rounded story, no lose ends, no smut, just pure enjoyment to read, can’t wait for next one.
Have always been a huge fan of Wisteria Witches, and now there is another series to follow avidly, great!

Sometimes when things go wrong it is for the best, and enable us to change, grow, and take action in our lives. This story has a whole lot of these in the plot, all told with a lot of good-humor, and a good vibe. It´s really entertaining and leaves the reader with a great big smile in the face.

This romantic story is sure to draw you in like it did me, it has an animal draw-card and icecream attraction.
I have the ebook as well as audio.
This narrator of the audio-book always does a fine job of the differing characters and is a pleasure to listen to. Recommended.
