I've been a fan of Paul's for about 6 years now. I read this book to decide if I should give it to someone. Frankly I felt it was a bit juvenile for the mid teen I was thinking of and he'd probably get on better with SUMO - In my view Paul's best book on the topic (disclaimer! also the first I read). The 6 principles behind both books are great, and SUMO has an awesome last part which reminds you that you can read the stuff but if you don't do the work it won't make much difference. (and helps you make the plan for that work and sets you up to review it regularly). In this book these are effectively minimised and diced through the book and become thought exercises rather than a clear plan so lost the impact, but maybe this means they are more fluid for people going through the 7 years of mega change that teenage years are.

If you have a reading age of around 12, or prefer the cheeky chappy approach with info in 2 minute bites sizes this may be the book you need - the principles are sound - although if you are 2 minute chunk kind of person his website and videos may be even more your thing.

Best-selling author of SUMO (Shut Up and Move On) has written a book for teens full of practical and useful advice for supporting their wellbeing and mental health. Covering topics such as positivity, resilience, staying healthy and coping with setbacks, this is an easy to read and very accessible book. There are lots of relatable examples, touches of humour, and the short blocks of text are broken up with lists, fun fonts and great use of illustrations. A book about skills for living a healthy life - that not only teen readers will find engaging but that their parents would also find beneficial.

I have a wonderful 15 yr old son who in 2020 (the year of the covid) has struggled and withdrawn into himself... and his games consul. He is a reluctant reader and I wanted a book to offer some top tips and reassurance us that we're still moving in the right direction in our parent/child relationship. I wanted a modern book geared towards the teenager and this certainly fitted the bill. I feel that Paul McKee's offering has enhanced my knowledge and I hope my son the same way when he gives it a go. I will be using some of the key messages and exercises within a youth group that I lead. A good read for parents and teens alike

Brilliant book for all kids and adults

This is the second time I have read this book and it is just as good second time round. I wish every child and adult would read it; they would learn so much about themselves and others. Highly recommended
