A Boy and His Bike

Rate this book
Brock, whose real name was John Brockson, was the smallest boy in his class, and the only one who hadn't got a pair of long trousers. Brock would have liked long trousers, but much more than that, more than anything else, he yearned for his own racing bike.

One of my favorite books as a kid, but I am not surprised that no one else has even rated it, let alone reviewed it. A simple story of a boy who yearns for a race bike, but his parents can only afford a rather broken-down, second hand heap that is soon nick-named "The Tank" and is the cause of much humiliation for our hero. A book that addresses how kids feel entitled, even before anyone really grasped the idea. If anyone finds this book, let me know.

John Brockson yearns for his own racing bike. Accompany Brock on his journey to fulfill his dream - through paper routes, extra chores, peer pressure, friendship, rivalry, and all that is most important in a pre-adolescent boy's universe.
