Introduces the ways in which politics and policy respond to the diverse challenges of environmental problems. Outlining the position of politics within an interdisciplinary environmental focus, the book examines the full range of green politics: the institutional responses of parliaments, parties and electoral systems; the more informal politics of non-government organizations and social movements; and the politics of business as it responds to the greening of our society. Highlighting the multiplicity of green political responses, the book features a wealth of original global case material.
An excellent introduction to the multidisciplinary field of environmental politics. It describes in a basic manner, filled with concrete examples, how different actors interact within different contexts. The only aspect, within the interdisciplinary framework, missing is perhaps a lack of philosophical introduction to a variety of political thinking; the post-structuralist ideas could be elaborated with regards to Foucault to better understand the post-structuralist ENGOs. All-in-all it an extraordinary book for students, activists and other generally interested people, trying to get a good beginning into the politics of the environment.
