In the year 2196, the Republic is the sole surviving state of the new world. The Father rules the people. The Law aims to avoid the mistakes of the old world.
Religion is outlawed. Electric fences separate citizens from other people.
Heath is born in the Grey Zone, a lawless area outside of the Republic, and is brought up to resist the Father and his regime. Inspired to make a difference after his parents are killed, he joins a rebel group sourcing supplies for his community. Despite progress, Heath knows that his fight for freedom and salvation is a perpetual one and perhaps impossible.
Then two of Heath’s friends don’t return from a mission. Though the odds are stacked against Heath and his comrades, he helps organize a rescue attempt.
But it soon becomes clear that the Republic has something much bigger planned for Heath’s home sector. Suddenly, he finds himself in a deadly game of hide-and-seek with the enemy.
Faced with a horrifying scenario, Heath realizes he must find out exactly what the Republic has done, and who is behind the terror, in order to try and save those closest to him.
