A new world has been Magnificus Prime - a goldilocks planet - perfect for colonization. Recon Platoon Bravo will be among the first humans to set foot on the newly discovered world, but are they prepared for what they will find?
Blake Cage is a history aficionado, always up for adventure. Felicity Mars was trained in martial arts by her father and is more than a match for the thugs that roam earth’s overcrowded city streets. They’re also newlyweds trying to make their mark, but there aren’t many opportunities on a world tightly controlled by a sluggish government bureaucracy. When Magnificus Prime is discovered, they risk everything to join the militia in the hope that a new world will give them the space then need to thrive. But married couples aren’t accepted into the Magnificus Prime program and if they’re going to join the utopia they’ve been promised, they’ll first have to survive the five year enlistment period as if they don’t know each other.
Humanity is venturing out into the galaxy, and Magnificus Prime could be exactly what they’ve been looking for. But a perfect world might just be too good to be true. And if it’s as wonderful as they believe, what are the odds that they’re first to stumble upon this paradise?
Magnificus Prime is the first book in a new military Sci-fi series where our future meets our past in a stunning adventure that will change everything we thought we knew about the human race. From the mind of master storyteller Toby Neighbors, author of over sixty books, Magnificus Prime is the first book in a new space opera series that is perfect for fans of Starship Troopers, Ancient Aliens, Stargate, and Halo.
Good Siri’s but the husband and wife aspect throws me out of the series.
The story is well told. I wish I could give it more than three stars but I can’t.The annoyance for me is the twist of a married couple in the military it just is not done. And you can see why during the story. The romantic interlude take me out of the story they’re just too jarring for my taste. I enjoyed the two main protagonist but they should’ve started off as friends who went into the military together and the relationship should’ve developed from there. This is a first in a new series so there was quite a bit of world building, hopefully in the next book there will be more action than in this one. I will read the next book in the series to see if I will increase the star rating. Give the book a shot it’s not bad it’s just not great.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a fun read this was. The hero and heroine were people who I identify with. The story line much different than the usual shoot-em-up. situations were well described as were results. I have read some of Toby books (Kestrel Class). I must say his is on my list of frequent writer reads. I have been actively searching for instalment 2. Out next month it says.
Really enjoyed this book. The possibilities are numerous as to what can come next. The characters are interesting and their adventures are exciting. I’m excited to read book
Really enjoyed this beginning. The characters of husband and wife are well developed. They make the storyline really drag you in. Then all hell breaks loose just in time for the next book Great read
Cage and Mars left earth for a new life on a “new earth”. Surprise, they were not the only ones there. The board is set for adventure. Easy read, moves fast, and good solid characters. A little bit of everything and well done.
Like a novel from the 1950s. Nutcase commander. Inexperienced but intelligent junior officer. Strong female character. Murderous aliens. Still using Kevlar? Batteries that corrode and leak?
This was a good read ...lots of action in this book doesn't drag on like some do taking forever for something to happen. Will read the next bookin the series..can't wait to see what happens.
I did not review this one right after I read it,and I've easily read six more books since. I do remember that I want to read the next one. But I found a good series that I'm working on.
I normally don't like alternating first person points of view, but this story is compelling enough to make an exception. Excellent setup and premise so far can't wait to see where it goes.
Wow, what a way to start a story. All the classic elements are here: poor couple rising from poverty, military training, love, emotions and fighting ALIENS!
