Borrowed from mum on her recommendation, Ngaire’s book had excellent nutrition advice, mostly with ageing in mind. I got a lot out of it even though I’m not in the target age range.

I learned about the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits even when you’re unwell, or don’t have an appetite. I learned you can add vitamin D to mushrooms by putting them in the sun for 5-10 minutes and they store it until they’re eaten; the importance of muscle and getting more protein in your diet as you age, and that it’s beneficial to be slightly ‘overweight’ at older ages rather than slim.

There were eating plans and nutrition boosting meal suggestions at the end to help give yourself the best chance at staying in good physical and mental health in later years. It all seems simple and logical when explained by an expert who is on top of the research.

I’ve already started adding LSA mix to breakfasts and will tell mum to keep Ngaire’s book on her shelf.

Useing this important book in a group of people meeting monthly on Ageing Well. A really important topic and book as we get so much crap from other media on what keeps us happy in body and mind. Thanks
