Even as our dreams take flight, where do butterflies go at night?
"When you peel the mysterious layers of Autism back, it reveals wonderful and beautiful gifts. For it is there, where I found my daughter, Jessica," says author Douglas Dietrichson. Dietrichson brings his daughter Jessica's pictures and perspective to life in this delightful book.
This is a beautiful, bedtime read...or for anytime.
While butterflies are usually thought of us a daytime treat, this read lets them wander into the evening and nighttime hours. The illustrations are simply lovely. There were a couple, which I would have loved to have as posters for the wall—gently detailed with so much richness and a dab of fantasy. The butterflies almost glow from the page and glide through the scenes so peacefully...which makes it perfect for the bedtime read.
The text is calming as well and flows nicely. The vocabulary fits the intended age group and there is never too much text on the page to lead to boredom during read-aloud times. It lets imagination soar and invites to sweet dreams.
I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed getting lost in the pages.
This book was a Goodreads giveaway win. I just received it in the mail and I read it to my 3 1/2 year old. She loved it and wanted me to keep reading it over and over to her. At the end we had to keep doing the Butterfly kisses. (Nothing better than a parent that keeps getting a kiss at the end of story time). So based off of how she loved the book and it really was a cute short story with cute drawings we give it the highest rating.
This is an adorable little picture book, which asks where butterflies go at night. The child asking surmises various locations and adventures. the illustrations are bright and colorful. great book for the emergent reader.
