3.5 smutty stars!!

You guys, this is my first reverse harem book!!

I know, crazy right! But do not worry, it will not be my last.

I'm quite surprised at my enjoyment of this book, especially because this is a brand new author. It's a quick read, but just the start of this story. I think because this is such a new author I didn't have the highest of expectations which means I was even more surprised to enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a perfect book. But I think this author has some serious potential if she keeps tweaking and fine-tuning her characters.

In this book we have 3 Fae guys. All with different personalities and approaches in the bedroom....

Finbar was definitely my favorite of the guys. I'm telling you know, I would definitely pick him if I had to choose.

The story definitely needed some more world building and relationship building, maybe a little more alphaness to suit me from 2 of the guys.

It felt a little rushed at times and there is definite insta-love, but lets be honest you don't read a Reverse Harem for anything but smut.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read to pass the afternoon. We end it a cliffy, but it's not horrible. I will definitely pick up the next one when it comes out.

Lastly, can we talk about how great this cover is, it is definitely what drew me to reading it.

ARC kindly provided by BookSirens in exchange for an honest review.

I usually don't do cover buys, but in this case it was the cover that pulled me over the line. I saw this book in the BookSirens newsletter as an ARC and I was a little bit in doubt. I'm not too much into prison settings, it's a hit or miss, so I wasn't entirely sure if this would be for me. However, the cover is so incredibly beautiful and I could always leave no review if it would really not be my thing, so I ended up giving it a go.

And I surprisingly enough actually really enjoyed this story! Even though the story had a prison like setting, which means that we see little of the world this story takes places in, I quite enjoyed the mythology we heard about and the magic we witnessed. I also quite enjoyed the glimpse into the political intrige that's waiting for us in the next book. Since our heroine was just as new to this world as we were, what little we had to explore was enough to had me excited already.

It also helps that I quite liked the three guys in this story. It happens quite often, especially in fast burns like this one, that by the end of the book I have absolutely no idea who the guys in the story actually are, but in this case I feel like I can tell them apart, I know something about their background and I can really say something about their personalities and goals in life. All three of them were therefore quite interesting to read about, even more since we also got their point of views.

I also really liked the heroine in this story. She had the right kind of braveness to end up in the situation she ended up in, but she also had the right kind of fear to not feel stupid or reckless. On top of that I liked her slow transition into this new world. She was not magically perfect at performing magic, she was not surprisingly enough outsmarting all the other Fae. The way she reacted and acted felt quite natural without it becoming dumb.

I will certainly keep an eye on the next book in this series!

This book took me on a crazy ride after Grace comes home to find her father dying and her brother missing.
With the last words of her dad telling her to run to whispering lsle. Here she finds Aiden, Liam and Finbar and things take on a crazy turn with also a little heat.
To come to a crashing crazy cliffhanger ending leaving Grace with a hard choice to make . Totally recommend reading

slightly underwhelming

This story and its characters just felt a little...meh to me. Can’t put a finger on it...no depth? Just too...will I read book two? The jury’s out on that...give it a go as you may enjoy it more than I did. So a paltry 3.5 stars. Apologies to the author.

Note: I received this book via Booksprout and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

I love most supernaturals but I have to say that the Fae are my favorite, then to combine that with my reverse harem obsession, it's a perfect storm. It's an automatic read so when I came across Thorn Boys by Phoebe May Wilde I had to read it. While it wasn't my favorite fae reverse harem it was a good read. Thorn Boys is a paranormal reverse harem that has three suitors and is told from limited multiple perspectives meaning that the guys have a couple of chapters but the story is told mostly from Grace's point of view.

Grace is a strong, caring, and independent girl who doesn't just break down because things are horrible, she soldiers on and tries her best to come up with a solution to her problems. Grace is also stubborn but she is willing to try new things, try different solutions to get the results she wants.

I liked that each of the guys had a wildly different background but is all somehow related and deep in court politics. Aiden is sweet but has been isolated, Liam is serious and has a dark past and finally, Finnbar who turns out is nothing like he seems. They are all dedicated to Grace but something seems off, things are rocky and it's understandable because it's at the beginning of the relationship but two were keeping things from Grace, and then the other chose to use his information as a weapon against the other two.

As for the story, it was good but the flow wasn't great, something was slightly off. Also, the sex scenes were a little off, I think it was the wording that didn't appeal to me. I wish there was more background information about the fae in general, their magic, the courts, and more about the guys' history. Liam has something dark going on and it's affecting him currently.

Thorn Boys is just the beginning of the Prisoners of Fae series and I am hoping for more information about the fae, the courts, and more magic. I would love to know more about Grace's parents. The ending had a fantastic little plot twist and I am very interested in how Grace is going to get out of the mess she is in, up next is Thorn Court.

I was very surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this book! It would be worth 4 stars, if I didn’t feel that it was too rushed.

I felt that it needed a Prologue, some kind of introduction to the world or the main character, the first chapter felt weird for the lack of context. It would have also been nice to get to see Grace with her family before they were attacked, especially her father.

Essentially, I think that the plot is good and shows promise, and the characters are likable, but it has no real substance, it was too rushed, the romance too insta-love even though she doesn’t know the men enough to know what does she love about them 🤷🏻‍♀️

The attraction I get, and I’m not complaining about it, since it got us some steamy scenes 🔥 but again, it seemed too rushed and forced, especially since the 3 men didn’t like each other. I would have liked to see some character development, Grace getting to know the boys and the boys getting to know each other, more info on their background, etc.

And the ending was so anti-climatic, so sudden, even with the cliffhanger it was very meh 😕

I’m not sure how many books this series will have, maybe we will get this character development in the next books, but sometimes I feel that in order to draw out the story and make it a series instead of a stand-alone, authors turn what could have been a great book into a mediocre one... In the case of Thorn Boys, it could have used another 100 pages (at least) of substance, plot and backstories, even it being in a series.

But I’ll definitely continue reading, and hoping for a richer plot and character development in the next book 🤞🏻

Grace comes home one day to find her father mortally injured and her little brother missing. Before he dies her father tells her she must escape to Whispering Isle as it is the only place she will be safe. Grace is confused but obeys his wishes. After risking her life she arrives, and is surprised to find that it is not uninhabited as the townsfolk believe. If that isn’t surprising enough, she is amazed to find that her imaginary friend from childhood Aidan was not a figment of her imagination, or that he is not the only person on the island, Liam and Finbar are also residents there.

What are their secrets and why are they all stranded on the island?

Why did someone kill her father and kidnap her brother?

How is she to save her brother?

Why is she being hunted?

What secrets have been kept from her? Most importantly, what’s a girl to do when three gorgeous men make it clear they want you, but you can’t choose between them?

I really enjoy fae books as a whole. This is my first reverse harem read and I was not disappointed. The world-building was done well and I can’t wait to see what wild ride Phoebe May Wilde has in store for us as the series progresses. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Fae/reverse harem stories.

I received an advance copy review for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Grace comes home to find her brother kidnapped and her father on death's door. Her father urgently tells her to sail to the Whispering Isle where she will be safe. Once on the Isle, Grace meets Aidan, her childhood friend, Liam, and Finbar Thorns. The three help Grace uncover secrets while their attraction is magnetic. Will Grace have to choose between the men or will she keep all three as her lovers? Will Grace be able to save her brother? Will she find out who murdered her father and why she's now on the run? You will have to read to find out.

This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Wilde, and I will definitely be finishing this series. I love all of the characters and how their mannerisms and personalities develop through out the story. The plot sucks you in and holds you captive while you try to figure out the many secrets that are being withheld. I highly recommend this book to those 18+ due to the explicit sexual interactions. This does end on a huge cliffhanger. Thank you Booksirens for introducing me to a new author and gifting me this e-book. I look forward to reading the rest. This was my honest opinion.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was pretty impressed. The book was pretty fast-paced with lots of hints of intrigue and magic to come further in the series. Each of the characters were well developed, particularily the three male MC's. I was surprised with what seems like a sudden change in Grace's character, as she came across very innocent and naive at first, and suddenly she's seducing her friend. I do like that she is starting to show some smarts and a backbone, which I hope continue to develop along with the series. If you like fae, magic and reverse harem novels I believe that you will enjoy this book. I will be reading the next book in the series as I'm curious to where the author will take us and what other secrets are revealed. Definitely recommend.

This book was a WILD ride! Grace comes home from the Market to find her father dying and her little brother missing. Her father issues a warning & last instructions to go to Whispering Isle and stay there or “all of this was for nothing.”

On Whispering Isle she finds Aiden, how she has known since childhood when she used to come to Whispering Isle, as well as Liam and Finbar. During the initial “re-meeting” Aiden tells Grace he is a Fae and she flips out! Eventually things change & twists & turns end in a little heat.

CLIFFHANGER ALERT …
This cliffhanger leaves Grace with a hard choice to make . REALLY LIKED IT!

I received this as an Advance Reader Copy from Booksprout & after reading, I CHOSE to review it.

Grace’s father is dead, her brother missing, and she needs help rescuing him. She is stuck on Whispering Isle with three Fae men. Aidan, who stole her heart as a child; Liam, who would do anything to keep her safe; and Finbar, the mysterious charmer, are the only ones left for her to turn to for help. Grace is a strong and stubborn female who does not cower when things go wrong.

We jump right in to the story without a whole lot of history that might have made it even better. But the characters we do get are likable and depicted well. I enjoyed the story line and am interested in continuing with the series.

I received this book as an ARC from BookSirens in return for an honest review.

This book was not what I was expecting! It was a fun read, the plot moved along well, the naughty scenes were every woman’s dreams and the characters are very well written.
Come on, who wouldn’t want to spend a night in a tangle of bodies with 3 handsome, charming Fae men?!

Even without the love scenes, the plot is enough to keep you reading and it really starts to get interesting near the end of the book.

I’ll definitely be reading the next in the series, I can’t wait to see how Grace and her Thorn boys get her brother back and avenge her father’s death.

Grace is a young lady who comes home to find her father murdered and her little brother missing. He dad dies in her arms and tells her to go to the Whispering Isle. When she gets there, she finds a childhood friend, Aiden, Liam a quiet young man and Finbar, the man who claims to be the only one telling her the truth. What is the truth? Grace is not who or what she thought she was. What will happen when Grace learns who she really is? Who killed her father and has her brother? What does she do now? This book was very open ended and I can't wait to read the next one! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this HOT story. Thank you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

Steamy!! Well- developed characters, fast-paced, and hot! I’m impressed as I normally end up with an ick-factor on some scenes with themes like this, but not this one. Strong female lead, strong men = great magical romance . Very tastefully done. I was totally caught up in this storyline and enthralled. I can’t wait for the 2nd installment!

I received this as an ARC from the author and Booksirens in exchange for my honest review. Thanks!

This book is a favorite of mine because it is about the fae. They are my favorite magical beings in the world. Grace was instantly my favorite character. My heart hurt for her when she came home and found her dying father and then discovered her brother is missing. The world building is amazing with all the different fae. I was so captivating by this story. I finished it in one afternoon. I loved it.

What a great book. It is so interesting with so many backstories to help us situat that we almost think that we live there and know them. The FMC, Grace is very credible, she is new to all this but manages to fit in with the help of 3 very nice guys! We get to know all of them with their point of view wich is great. It is a very good book.

Good

Grace is sweet and protective of the people she cares about. In the beginning she doesn't know she is fae and use to think her one friend was just imaginary but he wasnt. She had to escape where she lived and go to the island. There she finds her old friend and two more that are fae. This is fast paced and brings spice to their new relationships. I enjoyed this start to this series

This is a very intriguing and interesting start to a new series. The premise is great. The characters are very distinct and set apart from each other. The pace is fast and the flow a bit choppy. Characters are likable. I would love to see more world building in the next book, but overall this is a good read and will read the next book.

Interesting premise

Tropes: #ReverseHarem #Paranormal #FishOutOfWater #FriendsToLovers #TheLostHeir

The plot is fairly interesting, but it was a little slow paced for my taste. While the romance scenes were detailed and not rushed, the author used delicate euphemisms. That's not my jam.

For the most part, the book is well written, but there are some grammar mistakes.
