My 8.5 yo son is starting to feel really big emotions but lacks the ability to communicate them. I enjoy this authors podcast and my daughter loves her other books The Care and Keeping of You and thought to give this one a try.
Well written and illustrated. An easy boom to just keep handy and flick through when needed. She describes the emotions and possible feelings and physiological responses in a simple and relatable manner.
I've noticed it on my son's beds a few times since I've handed it to him which is a positive sign.
I’ve always talked a lot about feelings with my son and I always will. Now that he’s a tween, having a book that lays it all out simply and clearly that he can read on his own is a great bolster for his emotional development.
I read this together with my 11 year old. It lead to several REALLY great conversations and a major break through for him. We are really working to identify fears and triggers and this help him have some better language to talk about feelings. Highly recommend!
