Price of Innocence, by USA Today bestselling author Patricia McLinn, is a sequel to Proof of Innocence that can also be read as a stand-alone. If you love twists and turns, characters who stick with you, and mysteries and romance swirled together, you'll love Price of Innocence. The Innocence Trilogy will conclude with the finale, Premise of Innocence.
NOTE FROM PATRICIA McLINN TO CAUGHT DEAD IN WYOMING READERS: Proof of Innocence and Price of Innocence do not have nearly as much humor as the Caught Dead in Wyoming mysteries, although there is some. They're a bit grittier and darker ... though not in the deep end of grit and dark.

Price of Innocence by Patricia McLinn The Innocence Trilogy Book Two Detective Rutherford “Ford” Belichek and his partner, Tanner Landis, are on the case of a murdered woman. A woman who is the cousin to Ford’s good friend, Maggie Frye. Maggie was one of the main characters in book one, Proof of Innocence. The victim is assumed to be Jamison “Jamie” Chancellor, as the body was found in Jamie’s house, which isn’t easily identified. The detectives are working as hard as they can. Being the body wasn’t found right away, as Jamie was out of town, supposedly, it’s tougher to find answers. Many leads have gone cold before they could start. A podcaster trying to make a name for himself seems to be getting information leaked out of the police department. So many things are going on, a real page-turner full of could-be guilty persons. Great characters and story. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
I suggest you do not start reading this before bed time. You may stay up to long. It is a stand alone story, but the characters are in a trilogy. The first two are great mysteries that keep you thinking.
This story focuses on Belicheck, Landis, and Maggie's cousin, Jamie. It is a second in a Trilogy. A neighbor decides to borrow a book and finds a deed body. The body has been dead and left in a house with the air conditioning off for about a month. The owner of the house was suppose to be gone to finish a book. No one thought she was missing, let alone dead.
This is a fast paced story. It does not drag on even though it is long. I found it hard to put down.
Great mystery with well written cast of characters
If it's a McLinn mystery, it will be well plotted, interesting with twists and turns, and will leave you wanting another when you have finished it; this is true of the Caught Dead in Wyoming series, the Secret Sleuthing series, and certainly this Innocence series. I preorder her mysteries without reading the premise - I am confident they will be well worth the purchase price.
With the usual strong story development of Patricia McLinn, this story grabs you from the beginning and leads the reader down a twisty path. There were a few too many grammatical errors, though, to be one of McLinn best. They should have spent a little more time on editing.
I thoroughly enjoyed Price of Innocence! Excellent character development, a plot that keeps the reader guessing, no superfluous cursing, and protagonists who don’t jump into bed at the first sight of each other. I’m looking forward to the next in series.
Have always enjoyed reading the author's books. I must admit that I was not surprised at the error in identifying the dead body. How the author finished the telling kept me on my toes. Looking forward to reading the next story!
I think this is Patricia McLinn’s best book yet. She does a great job fleshing out her characters and keeps you guessing right until the end. Looking forward to the third installment in this series!
And yes it was to some extent. But thoroughly just as enjoyable as any of her other series, I believe. And yes there was some humor as well. A page turner for sure. Can't wait until I get the next in this series!
