The property has a waterfront view to die for, and someone is about to prove it! Small town politics and big city greed together can create a murderous combination, and somebody has to take the fall. Casey Shaw is going to need all the help he can get from the Mallard Cove gang if he's going to prove his innocence. He has to find the real killer in order to stay out of jail and save his business, but time isn't on his side.
Hi! Glad you took the time to read about me, though my Coastal Adventure Series is really much more interesting. But hey, click my "Follow" button and see what kind of trouble I get into. It beats reading the newspaper! (I try to stay out of those these days...)
I was born in Palm Beach County, Florida, and escaped in Y2K, 40 years and 1.1 million new neighbors later. I hate crowds, and by then the lines at the boat ramps on the weekends were hell... Anyway, in my early twenties I crewed on sportfishing boats. I started flying when I was old enough to see over the instrument panel and got my license at 16. I've logged time in over two dozen types of aircraft. I got my start as a real estate investor in my latter 20's. I've owned retail stores and was even a small-town mayor once. Why? I'm still asking myself that question now, several decades later.
When I moved to Virginia, I fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore (VA & MD), as well as the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and that's why my books are set in this area. I write books because it's fun. I create characters that I enjoy 'spending time with' because I write every day.
You're still here? If I haven't put you to sleep or chased you away by now, please feel free to click the button next to the "Follow" one and send me a "Friend" request. Like Belushi said about grabbing a beer in the opening scene of Animal House: "Don't cost nuthin'!"
I like the way Don Rich allows his characters to be singled out in each book to tell the story from their view. Changing characters from book to book a better understanding is gleaned of the persons depth.
I Coastal Caper Rich does not disappoint as the investment group find themselves at odds with a rough group from New Jersey. Trying to develop the old Cape Charles Railroad yards the mysterious group comes in at the last minute causing delay.
The story develops from there with mystery, intrigue and action but little fishing activity in this book. But, a new Marina and Boat opportunity sparks new interest. Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don Rich continues to make the Coastal Adventure series better with each succeeding novel and Coastal Caper just might be the best yet. In book number 6 of the series, Casey Shaw is framed for the murder of a local government official after he and his business partners show interest in the purchase of valuable coastal property in Cape Charles, VA. As Casey fights for his reputation and freedom, he undercovers the real murderer and it almost costs him his life. Rich conceives a plot that is filled with believable twists, memorable characters, and a story that is hard to put down. If you're a fan of the series, you will love this book. If you're new to the writing of Don Rich, you just might have found a new favorite author.
This was a great read and I was so happy that Casey and Dawn were main characters in this story! Lots of excitement and when the first solution came along I thought we were done...but not so. There was more to come and a surprise at the end. It's really GREAT to have Casey and Dawn in a position to be more included in any new stories!!! If you are a fan of this series you can't miss this entry...
It was nice to see Casey and Dawn back in the primary drivers seat of this story. I think it's a tie with Coastal Tuna as my favorite Mallard Cove series book. I really enjoyed this book and of course with finishing it comes the stress of when you're going through a series you really like and there's only one more released book before you're caught up but it's worth the wait, but that's a good problem. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
The little town of Cape Charles is pretty traditional and the residents like it that way. Casey Shaw thinks he could develop the old rail yard into a money making venture that would be in step with those values. The New Jersey mafia thinks that property would be a good place for a high rise with a casino where they could launder money. If it takes killing Casey to do it, then that is what they will do. They are in for a surprise.
Well constructed plot, complex yet easily followed. Very relaxing read yet hard to put down. I look forward to continue following the characters as they find their next adventure.
Looking forward to the next Coastal Adventure Series
Anyone who loves to read about the boats and water and will like these stories. Have read all the coastal books and find each one hard to put down. Love all your characters even Baloney and Sandy the beer nappers.
I liked the story and it was a good quick one seasons change as well as friends and locations costa Rica is in the season change soon and I'm on to the next story ciao and Pur a vida....
This road has more turns and switch-backs that your mind can handle! Don knows how to build the story to fool you about what you think the final end will be. Mike R.Beche one who dabbles in TV scripts
This book continues the story from books 1-5. Very likable characters. I recommend you read this fun series in order. I grew up near ESVA, and I still am learning things about the area by reading these books. Highly recommend!
Another good book by Rich good plot more character development í like how he makes each story from a different characters point of view. The way they keep adding to the marina it will be a city soon!
Don Rich -Thanks for bringing the old gang back together continuing Casey’s legacy. What a great read for the holidays but with the warning so good you won’t want to put the book down.
Decent story. Lousy dialogue. I also have to point out that I have lived in VA Beach 30+ years and have been to the Eastern Shore many times but have never heard it referred to as "ESVA"...
