Drama filled read with relatable characters. Monique was who Surf needed in his life. Storyline well written. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Good standalone
The synopsis for this book drew me in, but I couldn't finish reading it due to all of the grammatical errors. By chapter 4, I was done! There are so many run on sentences, commas and semicolons used incorrectly, and paragraphs that needed to be divided or separated until it made the book hard to read. I found myself correcting sentences, reading them as they should have been written, just to get a good thought process for the paragraphs. Chapter 1 seemed rushed, telling too much too fast, with no real development. The other few chapters I managed to read where the same with an over usage of the characters names within a paragraph. I felt like I was reading a first grade "See Spot Run" book. I'm not an English teacher, nor did I ace English in school, but I am an avid reader. In my personal opinion, I think authors, who are grammatically challenged, should really start having their work proofread before publishing. This book could be a good read if the author revise it by correcting the grammatical errors and being more descriptive so the reader can "see" the story as it unfolds and not feel like it's being dictated. Author Jay Tha Writer needs to learn how to write. Tell your story in a way to draw the reader in and not push them away. This is just my opinion. Others may love it and think it's the best book written.
This is my second time reading this author and just like the first time, it was so promising but missing too much.... It's like this author has so much too say, so much developing of the story to do, yet can't continue.... Surf and Monique, were so cute and compatible and they both were dealt a bad hand, but there is no way that some one like Surf, grieving the way he was grieving, just saw Monique and then wam, bam, he is in love. He did ask Leena for permission, but what???? This is so not finished... Monique on the other hand, could have fallen head of over heel for Surf, but no woman in this day and age will accept to come second and not until Leena gave a sign, she was in limbo, what??? This is so not finished..... Then, you have the "crew" who for the most part was extremely loyal to each other, even though the author tried to throw a wrench in the story (hint: clean and Monique), nothing happened because again, "this is so not finish".... I would love to give this author another try but now I don't know, but that said it was a cute story. Mia was the bomb in this....

OMG goodness great read will definitely read another book by this author.
Surf and Monique both lossed someone one they loved dearly. Surf was trying to put the piece back together after his wife was killed in a car accident. He met and fell in love with Monique who went thru her pain watching her boyfriend die in front of her it was trying time. Two lose soul found their way back to each after the pain the time for healing start. Monique tried to denying her feelings trying not to get drawn in. Mia his daughter took care of her dad and was older beyond her age. Monique and Surf got married had twin girls he overcame many obstacles deal with his wife murdered was a lot leaving the past behind. Zoey was Surf sister she had a baby with Ralo Jr he was her brother arch nemesis he killed his father in his early years. Ralo paid someone to run into Jimz and Surf wife. Jimz and Clean were close friends like brothers for years. Surf left the negative vibe alone and concentrate more on his family and his three daughters. Great read
I don’t even know where to start😂 i absolutely loved everything about this 1 from beginning to end! I have to admit i was misty eyed at some parts but also was laughing at others! I loved how they were all connected in some kind of way & ended up being each other’s saving grace! ❤️ that was cute! They all have separate lives but the relationships they held with their significant other was the bomb!💯 i have to say Mo & Surf was my all time fav. The fact that surf was still so in touch & in love with his wife was amazing! Especially how he ran everything by her & had to get a confirmation before he actually went thru with anything! It was amazing how you wrote this & it all came together soooo perfect! That’s def a work of art! This read also lets you see that there is SUNSHINE after the RAIN🥰🥰Please keep up the great work 🙌🏾❤️💯
This book is a must read. This book is a true example of everything happens for a reason whether it’s good or bad. I found the perfect quote for this book. “People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together” This quote sums up Surf, Mo, Clean, Kia, Jim, Lily, Zoey, and Ralo. My favorite part of the book was when Zoey was introduced. I love how everybody was connected through love some type of way. This book was definitely out your norm, Jaythawriter but I love different. Keep blessing us with your talent. Love Always, a true fan......
This was a good read. I liked how the characters were written. I sadden me that Surf lost his wife so early on in the beginning, but in return he also received a gift that changed his life for the better. I thought Mia was a little cute addition to the story because she character was also one to keep the readers laughing even through everything that was going on. Mia & Surf had that father/daughter bond that was unbreakable and for 8 yrs of age she tried to keep his spirits up. For being so young she had such a big heart. This shows you that God step in people lives right on time. The author could have written this story totally different, but he chose a good direction to take this story. This book was worth 5 stars.
This was an okay read. Actually this was my first time reading something from Jay Tha Writer but I can honestly say it won't be the last. I will say I wish this was more than a standalone because I felt like it was more that could have been said and some things wouldn't have been rushed. I am glad that Surf found Mo because they both brought positivity in each other life's. I lovedddddddd little Miss Mia she was something else. I don't know how I felt about Ralo even though I know what he went through I'm just still not feeling him. Like I said this should have been a series because pretty much the whole book I was like who and where Zoey was going to come in at and the whole time she was Surf sister we knew nothing about. Overall I liked it
This book was SO good. It will make you cry, laugh get angry and cry some more. It's got plenty of drama a little romance but a whole lot of mystery. The crew is all together enjoying themselves when tragedy strikes in the very beginning. A love is lost and Surf loses his mind. The author created a genius little mind in Mia, she's the glue that ultimately saves them all. One haunting from the past touches Surf, Jimz, Clean and Ralo the enemy and ultimately changes there path forever. Great read with a humorous grown little girl like Mia that will have you wanting more of them.
First, let me say I loved the love the surf and leena shared even after her death. It's hard to find real friends these days but this group minus Monique had been friends since younger and that's def goals. I honestly ain't feel bad what happened to chelly but I'm glad jimz got lily. It's crazy how everyone was connected and Monique was def for surf. For a min I thought clean was up to some mess but everyone really rocked for each other. Lil mia was a mess but smart. It was crazy how ralo jr momma knew Zoey was the one to save him great book 5 stars all around
Omg! The message behind You Saved Me is sooo powerful. I love the fact that it's filled with drama, laughter and love! Surf was a tough cookie but I'm glad Monique held on for the sake of both of them. Mia was just so darn adorable! Reading this book had me so in tuned with the characters and storyline that I felt like I was in the crew😂 If more people could take pointers from this read it'll make for a better world! Great read Jay Tha Writer and I highly recommend it to all readers!!!
A GOOD READ Very well written and the character development was great. I really enjoyed this book. This book was not only about seeking revenge but forgiving as well. Two individuals who have more in common than they would like to think, reacting negatively based off their worlds shattering but all it took was the love they have for the same person to get them to open their eyes and consider the possibility of forgiveness for the pain they caused each other. I was happy that Surf and the crew all found their happiness and were now having families of their own.
Loved it. The characters in this book, feel like ordinary people. One thing, life comes full circle, and does continue. Mia has been here before, wth her only being 8 yrs old. Very smart & will be a Great Big Sister. Surf was such an emotional man, when he lost his wife, he was saved by many Including Mo. I could not blame Ralo for what he did to Surfs Wife, Revenge is all one thinks about, especailly when losing a parent. Glad that Zo was able to save him, and that the death of his mother, showed him something better in life. Well Done J....
I loved every couple. They we're unique in their own way. Monique and Surf really saved each other. Surf was going through such a hard time. Monique came in like superwoman and saved the day. Mia was a mess but gotta love her. Clean and Kia loved each other much. Jimz and Lily what happened with them? I felt sorry for Ralo he went through some tough times. Chloe was his saving grace. This book really hit a lot of subjects such as forgiveness love depression and all. Good job.
This was such a good story with a great storyline and plot that was well thought out.The writer states laying the groundwork from the beginning of the story to what is too become such an entertaining story. There are so many come to truth moments you are going to be like wow! The fact that we don't get a cliffhanger is great because the writer gives a really good ending.Take a moment to enjoy good writing, characters you are going g to like an outrageous little girl that is going to keep you in stiches.
What a wonderful story of redemption, love and forgiveness. I read this book in a matter of hours because I simply couldn't put it down. The world is really smaller than we realize. Six degrees of separation is a fact. Without God guiding our steps we all are strangers aimlessly going through life. I would love to see these couples again in a spin-off of two (hint, hint). If you want to read quality writing with a believable yet unbelievable storyline, then this is the book for you.
So, I needed something to read while I wait for a couple of part 2s & 3s and I asked for a recommendation. My online book club did NOT disappoint. I was so invested in these characters to the point of enthralled. I felt like the author spoke to the spiritual side of me that isn’t religious. I also am a sucker for a male lead character and Surf gave me everything I love about reading. Didn’t disappoint and I look forward to more reads by this author.
My black men....Amazing Standalone. This book was so deep on so many levels. It was spiritual, it was about family, having faith, and finding love. These young black men came up against some strong odds with street mentality but through faith, prayer, God brought these families together in ways you wouldn't and didn't see coming. Love is truly all we need. Heartbreak only makes us stronger. Bravo!!
I have yet to be disappointed by JayThaWriters books. I felt so bad for Surf, but I was also getting annoyed by his drinking and not really thinking about Mia sometimes. Mia was a piece of work and was to grown for her own good(not in a bad way) I love how she cared for her dad. Monique and Surf were good together. Glad that Surf was able to move on from his tragedy. Thank goodness Ralo Jr came to his senses before it was to late. Glad everything worked out for everyone in the end.
This was a good book. Very different than what I was expecting, but that's a good thing. I'm used to reading the same things over and over but this was a relief, a little more real. The only thing I couldn't get with was Mia. Maybe if she was a little bit older her character would have been a little bit more believable. Also, it felt like Lily and Jimz story was left unfinished. But all in all it was a good book!! Good job!!
This book had everything!! I mean every sentence every paragraph kept me in the I want to know more state. The way the characters ended up connecting was brilliant. Each character was utilized in a way that would draw the reader in more. All the elements was there. Happiness, sadness, surprise, love. All I can say is this is what I look for when looking for a good read.
This story had me from the very beginning and the story line was GREAT .I loved the relationships of the characters and I absolutely loved how the writer continued to focus on the GREAT WORKINGS OF GOD who would have ever thought that surf and ralo would be connected in the manner that they were this book screams forgiveness and KARMA This author is new to me but he's just gained a new fan GREAT JOB I'm downloading his other works NOW
Excellent storyline that teaches the depths of forgiveness and how God causes things to happen for a reason from a street life perspective. Character development really helps you to see and understand why the characters behaved in a certain way. I enjoyed this five star read, and recommend to everyone who enjoys great writing. Look forward to reading more books from this author.
Don’t believe the reviews, this dang book 🤦🏾♀️. I’m so confused by a little bit of a lot that happened in this book. People falling in love after talking for two seconds. Plots aren’t explained. People getting shot and you have no idea why. I’m so confused. And don’t get me started on the little 8 year old everyone’s excited about, “she’s so funny.” No. She’s not. I think I may have read a different book than everyone else.
I loved the theme of the book. His don't make no mistakes. All the characters in this book had to go through something to get to the bigger prize. No matter the circumstances, a person has to grow up, mature some, and move on. They saved each other from sure death and destruction. This was a very thought provoking book. It makes you examine love and relationships and getting right with God.
It took me a while to finish this book which is unusual to but it was a good read I personally like more of a drama and more of the characters telling the story then the narrative overalls it was a slight tear jerker and had a lot of humor which was great 👍 keep up the great work I will read others you’ve found a new reader also please double check your work after your test reader and your publisher just a little advice
I loved how each couple was giving a second chance at love. I thought clean was a little of at first too. I.e.glad it didn't turn out that way. The guys were there for each other and true friends. Zoey was a nice twist because i want expecting that. I would love to hear more from the crew
Leena lost her life jimz legs broken due to the accident. Surf taking care of his daughter. Surf bumbed into Monique at his club. Kia is pregnant with Clean baby. Chelly think she is having jimz baby. lily was about to have sex with jimz at Clean and Kia house. Surf trying to seek revenge for his wife death.
This was a good book it taught you about the power of love and forgiveness Ralo was really hurt about his father's murder. All he thought about was vengeance until he met Zoey who was Surf's baby sister the one who killed his father everything came back in full circle and they learned to forgive and take one day at a time
