四书五经，是“四书”与“五经”的合称，是儒家的九部经典著作。“四书”指《论语》、《大学》、《中庸》、《孟子》，“五经”指《诗经》、《尚书》、《周易》、《礼记》、《春秋左氏传》。它们取得“经”的地位，经过了一个相当长的时期。

本书是为了满足现代广大读者阅读这部巨著的需求推出的白文普及本。首先，以中华书局权威版本为底本进行核校，确保了其学术的准确性、可靠性；其次，书中涉及大量古代的人名、地名，不加注明是很难读懂的，因此本书保留了原点校本人名、地名下加专名线，书名下加波浪线的做法，使读者一目了然。

About the author

Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).

If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.
