For as long as she could remember, Ocean Ray has had her fair share of traumatizing experiences. Growing up in Bainbridge, one of the more countries towns in Georgia, racism was still prevalent. It was 2005 and people of color were still separated from those without it. After the country life takes a toll on her family, they have no choice but to relocate to the Big Apple where diversity is celebrated throughout New York City, but never did Ocean think she would meet the man of her dreams there. Bainbridge taught her to respect her melanin and ask questions later, but true love has no color. When logic turns into dust, she will fall madly in love with Nick Rizzo. Nick had never dated a black woman before and most definitely never dated a BBW. After meeting a country girl like Ocean, Nick sees that a woman’s size has nothing to do with her kind, and sweetheart that she possesses. Nick is book smart, and Ocean has a sixth sense about the streets, and even with all the knowledge in the world, love still can’t be taught. When you fall in love it can be a gift from God but In Nick's case, it is Forbidden. His father has other plans for his life. Will his actions alone be enough to hold on to the most beautiful woman he has ever come across in his life, Ocean. He is learning that there will never be enough words to say or to explain what true love really is.
Interesting story written by this author showing how bias people can be toward other cultures and not knowing someone’s story or their beliefs. This character wanted what she grew up with in her household since growing up in the Deep South and moving to a more diverse city where people are entirely different. Also the character development was written well with how not all cultures are what they appear to be on the outside, but based on how a person is on the inside. There were minor grammatical errors which did not take away from the story whatsoever. I look forward to reading more of this authors work.
I think the author did a good job of building the backstory to what I am sure will be an interesting sequel. It's been a while since I read a romance that had very little to do with romance initially. There were a few spag errors, but nothing that took me out of the story. I think book two has the potential to bring romance, drama, and the necessary angst that make romance novels hard to stop reading.
First time reading a BWWM love story and enjoying every moment of it
I wish Ocean would open up more to Nick and the world around her in general. She's a total package but so stuck in her ways and not realizing how much it's holding her back from truly living life. I cannot wait to see what happens next between these two.
I loved this book. I think Ocean and Nick will get together but it definitely won't be easy. That arranged marriage and the chick that got drunk along with his dad gonna place many stumbling blocks. On to part 2. Great job Uniquely Lazy at!
I enjoyed this story. The way the mother stood up in church and made her recently deceased husband jump off embarrassed because she was trying to get known was done at a calm but firm tone it was sad that shortly after she had to fall ill but thankfully their aunt was there to help in their time of need.
Growing up in the south and moving to New York is an eye opener. Especially after tragedy hits twice. But these characters have a soul connection pulling them to each other no matter their denial. Can't wait to read what book 2 has to offer and how they face their obstacles
It’s time for Ocean to leave those Southern ways behind. She’s gonna miss out on a good man if she doesn’t. Nick is that Italian Stallion. His father may have an issue with Ocean, but Momma is gonna love her. Let’s see what part 2 brings.
Pretty good read. It was repetitive at times and some errors, but I enjoyed that the storyline was different. I like Nick for Ocean and I hope she warms up to the idea of them. I'm looking forward to their journey together in pt 2!
Ocean has to let go of that attitude about color because baby this Italian man wants her and she should just let it go and do the damn thang!!! I’m fixing to jump into book 2 to see where they go from here!!!
Great read, I really enjoyed reading this book. I hope that Ocean give Nick a change in her life. I think that they would be a great couple. I'm really am sad that she lost both of her parents died so sad. I hope she open up
Love has no colors, no religion, and no boundaries. Sometimes love can also be frightening. Ocean is this scared woman that is afraid to be loved by someone outside her race. I hope that she gives Nick a chance. This is story is short cuz I’m ready for more
I'm on the fence about reading book 2... Ocean had a rough start but the way the author wrote the begging I thought this was a historical fiction...nope The pace of slow and the happenstance is to far and in between...
I love the way you weaved their stories and helped us understand why their relationship was a forbidden love. I can’t wait to read part 2 and see how far they go.
Good quick read. First time reading this author book. Upbringing can have huge impact on relationship this what these individuals are experiencing.About to read finale
