As if being Satan’s daughter isn’t bad enough, Daddy Dearest shows up on my seventeenth birthday and says I’m required to report to Hell for one year of Temptress Training—joint custody is such a bitch. Not only do I have to take classes like Granting Wishes in Exchange for Souls, Which Demon to Send, and Getting People to Commit the Seven Deadly Sins, everyone already hates me. My dad wants me to stay and rule the kingdom with him, but I’m determined to just do my time and return to my life on Earth. But the pull of Hell is stronger than expected, and otherworldly creatures keep attacking me, making it clear someone wants me dead. Then there’s Tristan, the damned boy with the no-longer-beating heart of gold. Now I’ve got an impossible keep my soul or ensure the safety of the boy I’m falling for.

Since I am currently on a Lucifer (the TV show) binge, it seemed like luck that I got this book. After all, Hell High is about Lilith, Daughter of Lucifer.
This book is different. I really enjoyed it but a part of me is still utterly frighted by the vivid descriptions. Bravo to the author because I’ve never read a book quite like it. Hell High has honestly put the fear of God in me but then I had to remind myself that I was reading a FICTIONAL PARANORMAL ROMANCE. I don’t know how much I can explain it besides the fact that Hell High enchanted me with it’s writing.
I felt the words that Cindi Madsen wrote..I felt the fear, the felt the loneliness, I had this sheer overwhelming fear when she described hell. I felt Lilith’s frustration when she was talking about how she missed the mortal realm of vivid colours instead of grey and red. I felt such helplessness when she fell in love with Ristan, the damed boy with the no-longer- beating heat of gold. I was utterly fascinated by it all! I really enjoyed reading Hell High by Cindi Madsen. I don’t know for certain if this book is going to end up being a standalone or a duet or a series but I beyond curious about what’s more to come.
This book caught my attention and was really good! I was drawn into Lily's world that just got turned upside down when she is forced to leave for a year with her dad. Dad wants her to be by his side to rule Hell and Lily has a year to train to be Princess of Hell. When Lily meets Tristan he makes her life bearable and makes her keep from losing her soul. Lily will do anything for Tristan and proves it. Loved the mystery of who scaring Lily. This book really drew you into Hell and you could really see in detail what Lily was going through! Loved this book!!
Hell High is an all-new young adult paranormal/urban fantasy by Cindi Madsen. I’m not a huge urban fantasy fan, but I am a huge fan of Cindi Madsen’s words, so I had to give this book a try. Honestly, I was a little hesitant going into the story, but what it turned out to be rather quickly was a very pleasant and surprisingly addictive read. And it’s live just in time for the Halloween season.
What I Liked Most About the Book: Our sassy, snarky heroine, Lily. Told completely from Lily’s point of view means that Hell High is full of sass, snark, and sarcasm…three of my favorite things to read. And then there’s Tristan, our handsome, sexy, brooding reformed bad boy who made the ultimate sacrifice for someone he loved. *sigh* At 17, I’d have wanted him too!
NICUnurse’s Rating: For a book set in Hell, you’d think this would be a pretty heavy read, but there’s enough sarcasm and snark to keep it light in places. I was pulled in from the very beginning and honestly had a hard time putting it down to actually get some sleep. After living in one of the most difficult times we’ve faced in my lifetime, escaping into Hell seemed…odd at best. But Cindi Madsen is a very talented writer and storyteller, so I shouldn’t have been surprised that she gave us almost a comedic escape that also had some heavier underlying themes that didn’t actually feel like they were weighing me down. I’m still not quite sure how she pulled all of that off, but she did it brilliantly in this book. I’m not always a big YA urban fantasy fan, but if she decides to write another book like this, I’m definitely going to be picking that one up, as well! If you like YA, paranormal romance, or urban fantasy–or all three–I think you’ll end up loving this book too. And even if you don’t, I’d still highly recommend giving this one a try.
I give Hell High by Cindi Madsen 5 out of 5 stars!
Cindi Madsen is one of those few authors whose writing I like in multiple genres.
Lily has just turned 17 and is required to attend training by her father. He wants her to stay and rule with him but she wants to return to her life on earth. What follows is a story with humor, action, snark, and romance.
Cindi writes smart, interesting YA characters who don't feel like they are already adults. They seem like real teenagers trying to figure out their way in the world. The writing and dialogue are snappy and engaging and I flew through this book.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
What a good book. This book has a little bit of everything. There is romance, intrigue, hate, fear, love and so much more. The author has taken on what it would be like to be Satan's daughter, and she does it so well. I felt like I was part of this story, I felt like the story, was somehow my story, and I was fully meshed with the characters. The writing is imaginative, and well done. The characters are well developed, and totally relatable. This story also makes you think about what is right and wrong. Well done, do yourself a favor and pick up this story that is told in first person pov.
HH by C. Madsen is a ya stand-alone. A paranormal, urban fantasy story, intriguing. Meet Lilith, daughter of the lord of underworld. When she's 17 she has to live with her father and complete her education. There she meets Tristan and quickly falls for him. Who knew this place has a highshool - I never had dreamed of it. I loved how the characters are interacted, I loved the sassiness of Lily, her wit, her cleverness. The book has a bit of everything, releases just in time for halloween, fitting. A great read, 4,5 stars.
I enjoy Cindi Madsen's romances, so I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. But Lily did not disappoint - she captured what it was like to be a teen albeit in a different setting since her father is the Devil (yeah, with a capital "D").
Tristan was a swoony YA counterpart and this was an entertaining yet sometimes serious read.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
