In The Future War of the Church , Chuck Pierce and Rebecca Wagner Sytsema shared a vision from God. They showed lay people, intercessors and church leaders how to advance God’s Kingdom and use worship, prayer and spiritual warfare to overcome the lawlessness and violence in our society and the world during the current 7-year season of war from 2001-2008. Readers will not want to miss this revised and updated edition with a brief historical background at the beginning of each chapter, which offers an update on the prophetic words from 2001 and what came to pass. The authors urge readers to press on as the Lord is still calling His people to come against works of darkness with boldness and power from on high. "No demonic force, including lawlessness, will be able to stand against a fully functioning Body of Christ. Operating properly in the gifts will lead us back to love where we can work together according to the heart of God."
I've just finished this book more than twenty years after it was published (obviously just prior to 9/11) and it hasn't lost its relevancy.
I was pleased to see detail on a matter often remarked: that the plagues of Egypt showed God's ascendancy over the gods of Egypt. While that is often stated, the comment is usually without any follow-up material. The original material comes from "The Plagues of Egypt" (Catholic Lay Voice): (1) Rod becomes serpent: Apep and Edjo (2) Blood in Nile: Khum and Hapy, deities of the Ninle (3) Frogs: Heqet (4) Lice: Geb (5) Flies: Dua (6) Cattle: Hathor (7) Boils: Imhotep (8) Hail and Fire: Horus the Elder (9) Locusts: Shu (10) Darkness: Ra (11) Firstborn: Osiris, Isis and Horus the Child (p141ff)
The idea that to "be poor is to be spiritual" has its roots in Gnosticism and the notion that matter is bad and the mind is good. (p175)
Ants in Israel are often associated with threshing floors. (p178)
Replacement theology is not alone in denying the people of Israel their rightful place in God's providence, so is dual covenant theology. (p214)
