INTRODUCING MATTHEW FARADAY...The train-top murder of one of his female operatives has thrust Matthew Faraday, the wily chief of Faraday Security Service, into the dark and twisting tunnel of another railroad mystery, and a coded message in the dead woman's pocket is the only clue. Don't miss this novel in the Faraday western trilogy by bestselling author Robert Vaughan.
Robert Vaughan is an American writer. He has also written a series of contemporary and historical romance novels under several pseudonyms including "Paula Moore" and "Paula Fairman". His father served in the military and Robert followed him in the 1950s, entering army aviation. His early books reflected his military background: the first novel was about the US Army along the DMZ in Korea, followed by a trilogy set in Vietnam. There are more than 9 million of his books in print under various names. He was inducted into the Writers’ Hall of Fame in 1998.
Not the normal storylines I am use to reading by Mr. Vaughan, as his westerns were somewhat more entertaining. Maybe because being a Southerner and the fact all the bad guys were Rebels. Nevertheless, there were some captivating experiences throughout this novel and the basis for outcome really wasn't all that disheartening. There were some moments of glory in both directions, so I have already purchased the second book of Faraday's ongoing adventurous escapades, and anxiously awaiting the next ongoing excursions of this new found Hero!
I am hung up on Mr. Vaughan's outstanding western adventures and actually anticipated this to be another of his descriptive western folklore. Anyway, I awarded the story four stars based on the in-depth descriptiveness of probably somewhat believable stories of the war between the States. The characters were definitely befitting of their assigned roles and the storylines, in some I stances were a little drawn out. I guess, at heart I am definitely a dedicated reader of western gunfighters, and these fights were perfect for their settings just wasn't what my first perception was looking for. The story is definitely worth reading, especially if you enjoy espionage. I definitely recommend the book to those of you seeking special stories of this war, as there are some pretty awesome tales that are definitely representative of several important leaders of that era! As previously stated I bought the other book in the series and looking forward to see what it has to offer!
Another great book by Robert Vaughan! This series is the first I've read of this author but it won't be my last. I love the way he keeps the story moving along and the characters in the book are realistic. The fictional stories seem real and at times I found myself questioning myself if this was true or fictional.
Being a history buff, I especially enjoyed the Civil War timeframe for this book. It is well written, as are all of the Robert Vaughn novels. Highly recommended.
I've enjoyed reading the first two books in this series and am looking forward to the next book in the series. Well written action with a bit of romance thrown in to liven the plot. Good stuff.
A Well Written, Constantly Suspenseful Western! Be prepared to be quickly dropped in an abyss of constant suspense that doesn't let up to the end, interwoven with ever increasing excitement! Vaughan is a master at creating the highest lever of entertainment!
