The Windborne #4

Keepers of the Sea Cliffs

Confident and carefree, Salm can speak with dolphins, but he hasn’t managed to talk his way into getting his own ship. At eighteen, he wants to protect the Windborne coast and waters, but to sail the rough seas ahead, he needs a partner—one his hyper magic gets along with.

Luna keeps the beacon burning in her family lighthouse to guide sailors safely along the windswept Scotland sea cliffs, but she feels as lost as the orphaned gull she rescued. How can she ever spread her wings, knowing that would mean leaving her widowed father and motherless sisters?

Danger lurks along their precious coast, tipping the balance for people and wildlife.
Salm and Luna merge their magic to help—until he accidentally spills a secret that pulls her family deeper into the shadows of grief, and she takes refuge. Can the fellow who wears his heart on his sleeve persuade the cautious Luna to finally trust her own feelings?

KEEPERS OF THE SEA CLIFFS explores the struggles of older teens setting their own course in life, while still holding true to their magical connections to nature and community.

Laurel Wanrow loves misty mornings, the smell of freshly dug earth, petting long-haired guinea pigs and staring at the stars. She sees magic in nature and loves to photograph it.

Before kids, she studied and worked as a naturalist—someone who leads wildflower and other nature walks. During a stint of homeschooling, she turned her writing skills to fiction to share her love of the land, magical characters and fantastical settings.

When not living in her fantasy worlds, Laurel camps, hunts fossils and argues with her husband and two new adult kids over whose turn it is to clean house. Though they live on the East Coast, a cherished family cabin in the Colorado Rockies holds Laurel’s heart.

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Coming of age, being a teen on the cusp of adulthood is tough enough, not quite fitting into a neat little cubbyhole. For Luna and Salm, they were not quite old enough to pledge themselves to each other and with all the turmoil in Luna’s family, she seemed to have too many doubts. She also had a need to feel independent, to make it on her own and be an adult, before she committed herself to Salm.

Laurel Wanrow’s KEEPERS OF THE SEA CLIFFS explores coming of age, finding love, dysfunctional families, petty minds and all of it is neatly wrapped in a tale that speaks to older teens with the clarity they can relate to. Salm seems to have his mindset in the right place, perhaps with a touch more emotional maturity, but he didn’t have all the responsibilities on his plate that Luna did at home. I think I liked how well Ms. Wanrow unveiled that responsibilities do not equate to emotional maturity on every level!

A fun fantasy that manages to bring kindness to earth and its creatures into play as part of this fantasy world!

I'm such a fan of this series. It's been great getting to know the characters better with each book. This one coincides with Lost Whisperer of the Seas and focuses on Coral's brother Salm. Salm is trying to find his place in the world and wants his vision of the future fits to include Luna. He has it all planned out, but she does not seem to keen on his plans for their future. We really learn who Luna is in this book and why she tends to keep to herself. I enjoyed watching her come into her own and be able to make the decisions that were best for her. I was really happy with how this ended, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for all of my favorite characters.

The Windborne series continues with Salm and Luna...
I really enjoyed reading their story
The book synopsis pretty much spells out what the book is about so I won't go into any of that
The story brings back many characters from the others and I like how to find a mate your magic has to get along with the other..
Salm talks and trains dolphins his family is also keeper of the seas
Luna talk and heals birds...her family is keeper of the lighthouse
They are both strong characters and want to be themselves...can they do it?
Can they become bonded even though they each have their own ideas of what they want in life?
Such a great story...my only one problem is some of the words they use are confusing for me and I have to try to replace them with english words...
All in all a wonderful story and I can't wait for next installment of the Windbornes!

Thank you to Laurel Wanrow for allowing me to read a digital ARC of this book

This was a fun read. I enjoyed finding out more about the magical Windborne people. Besides a building romance there was a lot of action and adventure for the main characters. I liked how it was taking place in the same time period and place as the third book in the Windborne series. It had new ways for the characters to showcase their magical talents. I like how all the characters take care of nature and see the importance of preserving their special environment.
