I grew up on a steady diet of adventure both real and imagined. It was never quite enough. So what is a girl to do? The answer: live in a fantasy world.
This is by far one of my favorite horror series I have read. It was honestly like watching my favorite show on Netflix. This book was the perfect ending to this series, nothing was left undone, and I was left satisfied. It can be difficult for an author to end well after a series like this, but Purrazzi did it so brilliantly! Note that it does get a bit gory in parts, if you are not a horror reader, it might be a bit shocking. However, it builds up throughout the series, as if to prepare you. I am very much looking forward to other horror stories written by this author in the future. Ten out of ten, highly recommend!
I love the feeling of finishing a good series! Season three consists of a nice variety of haunted locations and unique ghosts. Purrazzi did an excellent job giving the visiting spirits engaging backstories and using vivid descriptions to make the creepy settings come to life.
The thing I liked most about this final collection was the empathy I felt for Kyle. I feel like I finally understood the hurt he was experiencing and why he tried so hard to push everyone who cared for him away. It was nice to see some of his inner-thinking and the emotions he was experiencing. I was also very satisfied with the conclusion and the closure it brought to the series as a whole.
I haven’t read much in the horror genre so I’m not an expert, but these stories definitely seemed well done in the spookiness department. The settings and the storytelling gave me chills and I know they made me a little reluctant to go down in the basement to switch the laundry.
I did notice some missing punctuation at the ends of a few sentences throughout the book and an occasional random typo, but they didn’t distract from the stories. If you’re sensitive to certain content, there’s fairly frequent mild swearing, mentions of voodoo and astral projections, and depictions of rotting ghost flesh (the series falls in the horror genre so that shouldn’t be too surprising).
I’d definitely recommend all three seasons of The Raventree Society if you like binge-watching shows. This series is like Netflix in book form and it was rather entertaining as a whole. It was extremely easy to get sucked into the next episode and I loved having the opportunity to finish out the final five episodes!
The third and final book in The Raventree Society Season trilogy must stand on its own and pay off the ten stories that came before in Season 1 and Season 2. Five segments comprise each Raventree novel, and each of the five is the length of a short novella. All fifteen episodes across the three novels have a similar structure. They describe an encounter with a deadly spirit in different settings. They also move forward the overall narrative of a family targeted by an evil presence. Looking back on the entire series, the Raventree Series pulls off fifteen scary stories adeptly. The setup, the building of suspense, and the payoff work across all the tales. Purrazzi’s talent shines in each book. Does Raventree Season Three live up to its predecessors in terms of a solid horror novel? Yes. Does it bring the trilogy to a satisfactory ending? Yes. J.E. Purrazzi’s one-of-a-kind organization of horror novellas not only works, but sets Raventree apart from other ghost stories on the market.
What a wonderful end to the series! Gets pretty intense there for a bit! Some real creepy scenes! No spoilers! You'll just have to check it out yourself!
