Great book! I had expected something like a book describing a couple of modern technological products. In fact it is much more than this: The author really manages to open insights to both: abstract technological principles on the one hand and concrete hands-on technical systems. Phantastic pictures and drawings. Seems as if the author had produced them all by himself. Apparently no standard professional graphics and stuff. What I like most is the writing-style. The author has a sense of humor I like very much. Maybe it is difficult to describe but I try. Here is an example: "If the normal semiconducting diode was a person, she had to be rather offended - day after day she does her job silently and unnoticed in dark electronic circuits, while her chic sister, this, this ... light emitting diode celebrates brilliant triumphs in public." (p. 231) Unfortunately the book is available only in German.
