I’ll admit, I’ve had a swoony place in my heart for a good pirate romance ever since watching Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly in Pirates of the Caribbean. Lone and Hunter have all that sizzle and steamy chemistry on the high seas! 1688, London. Lone is attending a ball when she learns upon the death of her father that he was secretly a privateer, hired by the crown. As his firstborn, she has to take on his contract. It goes without saying that she is not eager to become a lady pirate. She accidentally boards the wrong ship, that of her father’s enemy, Hunter, who she has instant chemistry. The lavish descriptions and lyrical writing made this a delicious treat. I loved the sword fights and rogue pirate attacks. The tension filled scenes below deck as Lone and Hunter exchanged barbs over sharing one bed (one of my favorite romance tropes!)
The story took us on lots of twists and turns. No sooner have This is a deliciously steamy read with lots of passionate interludes between the newlyweds historical romance readers will love. This was my first pirate romance by Raelle Logan and definitely won’t be my last!

This was the first book by Raelle Logan that I've read and I was not disappointed at all.
The characters were interesting and charming, and a little sexy too.
I adored Hunter. The chemistry between him and Lone was brilliant.
The only issue I had with this book, and the only reason this is not 5 stars is because I was often confused as to who was speaking in the scene. I felt there was a lot of head-hopping, but this could just be me.
Nevertheless, this story was delightful and I would certainly recommend it to others.
A brilliant story that was well-paced, with plenty of steam.

Another outstanding adventure on the high seas. Mystery. Intrigue. Seduction. All in perfect harmony! More than a swashbuckling tale and a one you most certainly want to read!

I have to commend Raelle on her absolutely brilliant synopsis. It manages to somehow spoil nothing, and yet reveal everything. It is by far the best synopsis I’ve ever read. Unfortunately, it has to compensate for the lackluster title, so its ultimate influence on the book rating is minimal. The cover has a good design as well, but I think it fails in displaying what the book actually has going for it, or what it pertains to have going for it. The TL:DW for what comes next is: if you like romance, you can very well give this book a go. It has a lot of big personalities clashing in a variety of ways. If you enjoy watching those kinds of sparks fly, and can handle a rendition of old-timey manners of speaking, this book has you covered.
For those who want a little more detail, for example regarding the plot, there is only so much I can reveal without going into spoilers. Suffice it to say, this book has A LOT of twists and turns, a lot of changes and alterations to its existing dynamics. I will, however, commend it for focusing all or most of these changes on the main couple, as a romance really should. The main couple consists of Lone (I assume that’s how her name is pronounced) Stafford, a wealthy young lady with ambitions of finding an auspicious match, and Hunter Draylin, captain of a pirate ship on the prowl for a treasure his father died to keep secluded. After her father’s death, Lady Stafford learns the rumours of him being a privateer weren’t just rumours, and it is up to her to pick up his mantle. As she wraps her head around that, she ends up crossing paths with Hunter, and the two go down a winding, twisted path filled with reveals, desires, accusations, and longings, with various actors trying to sow discord between the two for their various reasons.
One thing I will commend this book on is the plotting, all the revelations and changes to the status quo that they bring come in exactly when they need to show up, and spice up the narrative in ways that fit the established archetypes of the characters. Speaking of, Raelle’s character work is overall good, she is very deliberate in her establishing efforts, and knows how to keep these characters consistent. She is acutely aware of how they work and what their reactions would be.
My main issue with her character work is that she is often shallow in her approach. I don’t know who Lone and Hunter were before they met each other, if they have goals besides wealth or treasure, where did they get an education from, or what stuck with them. While the main or principal characters have distinctive presences and auras, other characters, aside from a name and a role, and admittedly their own distinctive voices, other characters have even less definition. Annilique in particular suffers because of this, her role in the story is to be the cheerleader of the main romance.
This underdevelopment has a domino effect on other aspects of the book. The romance in particular comes across as superficial, and the story becomes much more melodramatic, driven more by ego and regret than by a concerted desire and effort of the two leads to stick together. They don’t work for it, they just kinda tumble into it, because the plot brings them to that point. There are some inconsistencies in the plot as well, inconsistencies that are only partially explained by the incompetence and hypocrisy of other characters. The worldbuilding of the story is limited as well, I know as much about privateering and what it takes to run such an enterprise at the end of the book as I knew in the beginning, the operation of a ship is a woefully underdeveloped concept. Nevertheless, it makes up in part for this deficiency by employing the parlance of the time, which I found thoroughly entertaining and immersive, in spite of some inconsistencies.
Overall, while I am of the opinion that the story comes across as hollow, I still have to commend Raelle’s skill in presenting it and displaying her world.

Romancing a Pirate by Raelle Logan

I've never ventured into pirate readings, but this time, I've give it a go. And I was pleasantly
impressed.
A well-written story with fantastic characters, then there's Hunter and Lone, oh my sweet
heart, you definitely can't miss them.
The author sent us in 1688, a time very far from our days in many respects. We meet with
Lone and her sister May. During a ball, Lone, who hates social evenings, hides herself to
avoid the gentlemen who want to dance, but the same cannot be said of her sister, who is
with her admirers. Lone waits for her father to show up at the ball, considering that young
ladies alone at a ball was frowned upon by the aristocracy, but their father did not come.
Returning home, a gentleman, the constable, knocks on the door of the manor and
announces that her father was killed not far from there. Shocked and speechless, she
remains incredulous but must be strong for herself and for her sister.
A week after her father's funeral, Lone is summoned by the solicitor, who explains that her
father has left a substantial inheritance to the two girls. What Lone does not know is that his
father was a pirate, a hired pirate, who by signing a contract with the British crown,
committed him for life. Having died, the firstborn took over. How could a woman become a
pirate? Yet the choice would have been that or end up imprisoned for life. She walks in
search of a decision to take and goes to the dock, searching for his father's twenty ships,
and gets on the first ship she finds.
By the time she meets Captain Hunter, the ship had already sailed and could not turn back
so that she would be his guest on the next voyage. Couldn't he, or was it Hunter who didn't
want to? Obviously it was him who didn't want it both because he discovered that she was
the daughter of the man he wanted to take revenge on and because he was attracted to
Lone too.
But what happens next, are Hunter and Lone destined to be together? Will Lone choose to
be a pirate or she will break the contract with the Crown?
I think I spoiled a lot more than necessary, but if you want to take an adventurous journey
and follow in the footsteps of Hunter and Lone, that's it, buy the book, lower the sails, and
set sail, pirates.

A pirate's love
Lone believed herself to be a Lady amongst the elite of society. Hearing of her father's death, she soon discovers her life is not as it seems.
Now having the responsibility to fulfil the duty of the crown, Lone is left in confusion and feeling betrayed by her father. She has been thrust into a life of a privateer, her a refined lady. If she refuses, there would be dire consequences and the responsibility would fall to her beloved sister.
After hearing the news, Lone enters a ship on the pier wondering if it was her father's ship, which would now belong to her.
This is where the story grows, as this was not her father's ship but his enemy, Hunter.
Hunter is taken back by Lone and her beauty which stuns him, but he is weary of her intentions.
Their chemistry between them continues to sizzle. Hunter little by little wants to believes she is innocent of her father's doing and she isn't after the knowledge of the hidden treasure that Hunter has the missing piece.
As their journey presses on, Lone adapts to the life of being a Lady Pirate and grows more in love with Hunter with each passing day.
This story has many twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat. Not only was this a story of Lone and Hunter who had to battle for their love each step of the way. This story had the authenticity of the time, with the writing done beautifully.
There were many who battled against Lone and Hunter, desperate to not see them together. Lone also was on a path seeking revenge for her father's death, which set a deadly course in action.
This story had sizzling romance, suspense, and a plot of a pirate's battles and hidden treasure. If you like stories about a pirates and romance, you will love this story!!

Raelle Logan's, ' Romancing A Pirate' is my first pirate read and I was not disgusted or put off as I thought I might have been. I was impressed that the writer held her readers with loads of intrigue, suspense ,gripping tension and the 17th Century language used. Reading through, the writer makes us realise that appearances can be very deceptive and all that glitters is not gold even amongst parents and their children. There are some heart warming incidences such as the love between Lone and Hunter, Jonathan forgiving an enemy and sacrificing his wealth to reconcilie with his daughter, and the sibling bond between May and Lone. This was a book that kept me to the very end as my curiosity was aroused to find out if Lone succeeded in her quest to find her husband and if he was still alive. Also to find out what became of Kincaid - the villian in this story! And Farren? Ileave you to find out!!!

I read this following a friend's recommendation on Twitter.
I was immediately surprised by the stylish, colourful language that drew me in from the first page. It really stands out from many of the books I've read in the genre and helps paint an atmosphere of a murkier, more violent, yet somehow more poetic past. The 17th century setting is well-researched, which adds to the gritty authenticity that keeps the pages turning. The romance between Lone and Hunter is well done, and develops over time in a manner that doesn't feel forced or rushed. The allure of the romance is perhaps overshadowed by Lone's passion for justice, in seeking to find the man who murdered her father, but this is not bad thing and adds complexity to the tale. I'd heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in pirates, romance, or a stylishly-driven narrative.

WOW, this book takes you on a wild ocean adventure. I was hooked from the first page. I love how Lone Stafford finds herself stranded on the ship of her father's enemy, pirate Captain Hunter Draylin, only to be seduced by him. What she doesn't know is Hunter hides the secret behind why Lone's father was murdered by pirates and this secret may lead Lone and Hunter into a web of death they cannot escape. The tantalizing chemistry between Lone and Hunter sizzles with every footfall and every page. Absolutely Love this book and look forward to reading all of Raelle Logan's sizzling hot pirate reads! Awesome job, Raelle!!

If historical fiction and pirates are your thing. Ms.Lgan is by far the best author, I've ever read.
Her writing is akin to the Gods, with accuracy that kills. Right down to her verbiage it's a true step back in time. I highly recommend this book!

To start off, I tend to hate strictly Romance books. I LOVE Romancing a Pirate.
The voice takes a little getting used to, but it sinks in after a few chapters and is beautifully written. Poetic and vivid, but not just Romance. It's got a nice balance of Adventure, Thrill, Suspense, and Action that'll keep you on your toes and biting your fingers. I honestly didn't think I would like this book but wanted to support a fellow indie, and I cannot wait until I complete Logan's collection on my bookshelf.
If you haven't read this, pick it up now!
