What makes this book so special is the era discussed. Allen documents Northrop's many designs between 1929-1939, many of which set a considerable number of records and were flown by notable aviators such as Charles Lindbergh. The accompanying images create an outstanding visual for the reader. Allen stops in 1939, the year that Northrop left Lockheed and joined a few forward-thinking gentlemen to establish a new company, Northrop Corporation at which time he began further development of his flying wing concept.
