Can a sister who’s lied to everyone find truth with the wrong man?Secrets are everywhere…From the moment she met her sisters in a Qu’Appelle Valley orphanage, Oriole has rewritten her past to protect her present. Now Lark is married, Wren is lost, and Oriole is on a mission to find Wren before their cruel and controlling troupe manager does. In order to succeed, she must cling to her lies and evade the only man she ever let come close, the beguilingly talkative Llewellyn brother who deserted her without a word.Second chances are few… From the moment he first heard Oriole sing with her sisters in a Cheyenne saloon, notoriously scatterbrained Heddwyn Llewellyn’s desire to change gained focus. Until tragedy struck. To protect his brothers and sister, Heddwyn turned his back on love and the only woman who’d ever riveted his attention—all while refusing to talk to him. Now, after two years apart, Oriole’s finally back in his life and so is a shot at redemption. The Songbird Sisters’ quest for freedom may have reunited Oriole and Heddwyn, but it’s also tearing them apart. Her sadistic troupe manager is more than happy to maim and murder to get his money-making musicians back. Can two hearts always on the run finally stand still long enough to save each other and their love too?A note about story A Bride for Heddwyn is the second book in my Songbird Junction series. It includes characters (such as reader-favorite Grandpa Gus Peregrine) featured in my Noelle, Colorado, Christmas stories: The Calling Birds (set in 1876) and A Christmas Bride (set in 1877). All of these stories are Western historical romances with a dash of mystery and a heap of adventure.SONGBIRD JUNCTION SERIESBook 1 - A Bride for BrynmorBook 2 - A Bride for HeddwynBook 3 - A Bride for Griffin (coming 2022)Welcome to Songbird Junction, where Welsh meets West in Colorado 1878. The journey to find a forever home and more starts here. Brynmor, Heddwyn, and Griffin Llewellyn are three Welsh brothers bound by blood and a passion for hauling freight—in Denver, where hard work pays. Lark, Oriole, and Wren are three Irish-Cree Métis sisters-of-the-heart bound by choice and a talent for singing—in any place that pays.
I love historical romance adventures of all sorts, including those set in the Wild West. My love for frontier tales with grit and passion came from watching Western movies while growing up on a cattle farm. In addition to winning the Laramie® award, my stories have won the RWA Golden Heart® once and been nominated three times.

Lies and stubbornness, loyalty and sacrifice, they all tangle together to weave a sweet love story - not only for Heddwyn and Oriole, but of siblings and family.
The price of freedom has the life Oriole and her two sisters built crumbling around them, more so for Oriole than the others. I adored the determination and abounding love she had for her sisters and others, even as much as I so wanted her to be able to believe what her heart was trying to tell her, and trust her newfound family to help carry her burden and to let go of assumptions and worries. However, old lessons die hard. Heddwyn was endearing in his steadfast pursuit of Oriole, despite his sweet blunders, and his desire to take care of those he considered his. The sense of family, whether blood or not, flowed deeply throughout the pages and is one thing that I love to see made significant in stories.
Throw in a cute puppy, a troop of gypsies, and meddling family, and the charming adventure is complete (for the moment, hehehe).
The continuing saga of Songbird Junction is just as wonderful as the first, and I'm looking forward to how everything is wrapped up in the next book. If you're looking for a charming sweet love story with adventure and family, this book and series is one to pick up.
This is a sweet love story with a cast of strong characters centering on Heddwyn and Oriole. The author does a beautiful job developing their story and pulled me in with all the emotions and family love. She does a wonderful job painting her scenes with her detailed and descriptive writing. It's a heartwarming romance and I loved reading it !!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
A Bride for Heddwyn is the second book in Jacqui Nelson’s Songbird Junction series set in 1878 Colorado.
It is the story of three young women bound together by an orphanage upbringing and a love of music, and three brothers who will do anything to protect the women they love.
Oriole knows how dangerous it can be for a single woman, she and her sisters have been under the thumb of a controlling man for too long. When he is caught and jailed, she decides it’s time to chase down her missing sibling. But the man who calls himself their uncle escapes prison and is determined to force them back into a sideshow- entertainment to earn him his fortune.
Heddwyn has been fascinated by the quiet Oriole from the first time they met (and kissed). His awkwardness makes it hard for him to communicate his feelings, but when danger erupts, threatening Oriole and her sisters, Heddwyn gets the chance to prove his devotion.
I love Jacqui’s ability to create characters that warm the heart!
I really enjoyed this story. Oriole was so protective of the others, kept her own secret, and doubted others could care for her. Heddwyn knew he wanted Oriole, and I enjoyed his attempts at getting her to see herself as he did. The danger surrounding her kept everyone on their toes and brought all of them closer. Truth wins out, and Oriole and Heddwyn find their love, but danger continues to lurk.
I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.
I'm really enjoying this series and the characters. I loved Heddwyn and Oriole's story. It was great catching up with some of the characters from previous books. I look forward to more books in the series.
Jacqui Nelson never disappoints! The story of Heddwyn and Oriole continuance Bryn and Larks story ended. Oriole still searching for her sister. But when Heddwyn joins her it becomes very interesting!!
This was an exciting book to read. The main character Oriole will go to great lengths and many dangerous situations to find her sister. Jacqui hit a grand slam with this!
I enjoyed this romance with its characters based on some found in the West, but who are hardly typical. Not only do opposites attract, those with weaknesses and quirks can too. Quite a journey as the hero and heroine look for a missing sibling, only to find much more. A good read.
A beautiful continuation of the storyline and the book picks up where book one left off. Oriole continues to keep her secrets to herself and she is now urgently trying to rescue Wren from wherever their cruel troupe manager has taken her. Heddwyn is determined to change his life and now that he has heard Oriole sing his determination has intensified leading him to assist her in any way that he can. Their love story is so sweet and I loved how he was able to get Oriole to see herself as a woman worthy of love and respect. Something she has never believed for herself. A wonderful love story with a beautiful ending but there is so much danger and unanswered questions still to be overcome. How will this end for all of them?

Totally splendid piece! I have had the privilege to review some wonderful western authors but Jacqui Nelson is one step about them all her work is outstanding. In this love story, you have a splendid cast of characters Heddwyn and Oriole are first-rate. The writing is so detailed that it is easy to picture every scene. This is a book that will be re-read over and over again. If you are looking for a great book to spend time with my I suggest this one? Okay, I will be honest you will not go wrong with any work done by Jacqui Nelson. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The second book in this series is Heddwyn's chance to win Oriole's heart. The Songbird Sisters, three orphaned girls who have been enslaved to an evil man who makes them perform to fill his own pockets is still trying to be free from their "Uncle." The oldest of the sisters is married to the oldest Llewellyn brother and the youngest is still missing and in hiding. Oriole must find her younger sister, and Heddwyn vows to protect her. What ensues is mayhem, both funny and heart warming. I love all of Jacqui Nelson's related novels about people who choose each other to become family.

Jacqui Nelson writes sweet romance, always with a saucy adventure intertwined.
Oriole loves her sisters and will do everything to help them, especially when danger lurks.
Heddwyn loves Oriole and will do anything to pursue her. His sweet disposition, his love and sense of protection toward those he considers family, makes him loved in this book.
Cute story but felt like I started in the middle, I had not read book 1 in the series. But the story gives enough info that you catch on to what has happened. Strong characters who are working through their own stuff while getting to know others.

A sweet romance set in days gone by. This is Oriole's story, her mission, her adventure and her love story. A strong sense of family here, she will find her sister no matter what. We have a clan of gypsies and a puppy thrown in the mix. A kidnapping and a bunch of bad guys all made for exciting story. A well written journey of love and family, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The second book in the Songbird Junction series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Oriole and Heddwyn Llewellyn’s story of suspense, drama, danger, villains, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A western romance with adventure and bad guys added. A well written story that has a believable plot and characters that you can believe in whether good or bad.

I have read Western romances by this author for a while now, and I absolutely adore some of her books and her other series. But I was not wild about this book, unfortunately. I thought the heroine acted in a not-so-smart way too often. I don't like it when damsels willingly (and wilfully) throw their way into distress!
Honestly, I could not suspend my disbelief after this first point, greatly detracting from any enjoyment of what happened later in the book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
You gotta love Grampa Gus. Jacqui Nelson's style is easy to read and held me turning pages until the end of Book One. These girls have a lot of potential for a series. The overarching plot is good with a sweet romance between a strong woman and studly male. Does it get any better?
Usually when I finish reading a book, I immediately write a review. This time, however, I held my review for several days as I decided to re-read this story. I loved this couple and they fit together perfectly. Heddwyn is perfect for Oriole and she for him. I love this.author and her writing and that is why I decided to read this book twice. I wanted to make sure I had all the information I needed to write this review.
This book is part of a series but there is enough information given to be a standalone.
A Bride for Heddwyn is the second book in the Songbird Junction series and is a sweet western romance.
I loved this historical western second chance romance. The ongoing story of the Songbird Sisters has wonderful characters who are loyal and likable. The story is well written and enjoyable, with danger, suspense, family, and a second chance for love.

This is a heartwarming, suspenseful and romantic story. Heddwyn and Oriole are both caring, family oriented people, and perfect for each other. Drama is the theme throughout the story, but love overcomes all of the bad that happens. This is the second story of the series, and both have wonderful characters and a string storyline.
