I pre-ordered this book and was chomping on the bit for it to be released. I didn't even make it to the have way point before I quit. It's is awful. The author must be an elementary school drop out. He can't hold a thought for more than a paragraph before he's rambling about something else!

The author of this book is a well known rapist who have openly made a joke about rape victims recently on his Twitter account. He belongs to the prison.
In addition his book is a fiction with no evidence to support his baseless claims.

Worse than the book being complete trash, the author is a disgusting pervert who went on Twitter to comment about how he enjoys seeing rape and sexual violence perpetrated against innocent women in the midst of war. He refuses to apologize for his comments glorifying rape and I would recommend using the book's pages as back up bum wiper for when you're on the john and a little short. 1 star is generous for this freak.

I have heard about this book and wanted to read it. Unfortunately, I found out that thw author is very problematic with lewd comments on twitter and other social media. He was recently mocking victims of GBV(rape) on twitter.

I'm writing to inform you the author of "The History of the USA in Eritrea" named Amanuel Biedemariam tweeted on 1/9/21 at 10am saying that "I am sure you want your sisters to hv sex with Eritreans". He was cheering on & essentially advocating for the rape of Tigrayan women in northern Ethiopia by the Eritrean armies. Currently, genocide is happening in Tigray by the Ethiopian and Eritrean government. The Tigray people have been killed, starved to death, raped by the Eritrean troop, have no food, water or electricity, no communications and over 50 thousands people fled to Sudan. Please be aware whose book you are selling on your platform. Mr. Biedemariam ideology supports revenge by raping girls and women of Tigrayan. Would you really want to support this man? I am sure it is violations of your policy. As Amazon removed his book form selling it, I hope you do the same. Thank you.

Very Disappointing.
I read this book a couple of time & some of the pages of this book again and again , as there were conflicting names and redundant events.
I foundly it poorly researched on most on the policies of the United states' political and bilateral relations with the state of Eritrea.
Eritrea is known for its dictatorship but the writer seems to sugarcoat the depopulation and oppression of the people of Eritrea on the basis of what he calls wrong perceptions of the West on the political idealogue of the current Eritrean government. It misses a lot of important political miscalculations of the Eritrean government and its anti-democratic positions on most of the internationally accepted norms of democracy.

The writer is also an enabler of rape as a means of subjugation. He openly about this on the social media.

The Author of this book is currently supporting the soldiers of Eritrea and Ethiopia raping minors and women in the current war in Tigray. Per his tweet later removed, he blames the victims for wanting to be raped. We have asked Amazon to remove his book and they did, we also expect goodreads to stop supporting such person who hurts our community with his remarks of support for child rape. I started reading about the authors glorification of rape by his Eritrean Soldiers, at this point should I read his book?
The answer is absolutely NO, the order will be canceled if possible otherwise returned to the seller.
goodreads as a company should immediately take this book off its shelf and show solidarity to rape victims all over the world. Amazon has terminated this authors marketplace account immediately his outrageous tweets started surfacing on internet.

This "Scholar" is an Eritrean media personality who openly promotes Rape of young girls and women in tigray by the Ertrian and Ethiopian troops on his tweeter page. Disgrace. Dont buy his book

The author has the lowest moral value. His recent tweet regarding a report about women in Northern Ethiopia (Tigray) who are being raped daily by military forces in the area, he left a disgraceful message supporting rape (Which he deleted after a few hours but people kept screen shot). His book has been removed from Amazon for this reason and shouldn't be selling anywhere. He is a disgrace for humanity.

The Author lacks integrity. He has been inflicting harm to people in his social media activities. He encouraged raping, spread violence and hated among communities in East Africa and posed himself as pro war. Amanuel Biedemariam needs training on how to live in harmony with other communities, basic human rights and checkup of his health status.

the author of this book is funding for sex trafficking in Ethiopia. You should not buy this book on other hand you should not support sex trafficking. The Eritrean military have molested uncountable woman in Ethiopia tigray region, so the the author of this book stated in his Twitter the woman who has raped was wanted to be raped not the men's fault.

It is very difficult to trust the authenticity of the accounts and "facts" stated in this book. The writer of the book doesn't have good reputation in the society he belongs and at the same time, he fantacises rape as a tool of satisfaction open on social media. Very pathetic individual and I highly discaurage anyone who wants to read his books.

The book has has eight short chapters. It started with historical background of colonization in Eritrea and finished with an optimistic view that Eritrea will start to focus on economic development and peace.

The cardinal thesis of the book is that the US used Ethiopia as a vehicle to solidify its presence in the Red Sea soon after WWII.

The author conducted a historical investigation by uncovering previous confidential US government documents to disclose the unjust and unfair measures adopted by the US to accomplish the goal of securing a position in Eritrea. These documents reveal how US policies perceive prospective independent African and Asian countries and the diregard to self-determination after the culmination of colonization in Africa and Asia. The author put the Eritrean case under this subtle and important context.

Also, the author made an attempt to demonstrate the parallels of US foreign policies toward Eritrea during two critical times in world history post WWII and post cold war eras and described some of the consequences of these wrongheaded policies.

What's more, the author included some interesting photos from the post WWII of Massawa and the secret US base located in place called GURA' [32km South West of Asmara- the capital city of Eritrea].

On the negative side of the book - the author did not use footnotes and the book does not have a bibliography. In addition, while I understand it is cumbersome to publish a book, I want the author to do a better job in editing and restructuring this wondeful book.

Finally, I want to applaud the author for his courage to write and publish a book from Eritrean perspective.

I read this book it is a great legacy for generations to come . All the awful comments here about the book becouse simply the writer is an Eritrean who always positively try to help his country and people . The negative comments are you can see it is a lot recently since the war in Ethiopia started which is one of the Ethiopian activist campaigning against the writer and his book . Please read the book before you judge. I personally believe listen both sides then find out who is telling the trust . Great book must read .

The author of this book publicly endorsed rape of ethnic minorities in Africa. His Twitter profile is laced with profanities and genocidal propaganda against minority ethnic groups, and he uses funds from this book to finance dictatorial and oppressive governments in Eritrea and Ethiopia. By buying his book, you are providing tacit support to the suffering of people in Africa.
