The Girl in Apartment 19 is a fast-paced psychological thriller with twists and turns that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. A year and a half ago, Cornelia Winthorp was in a car accident that killed her fiancé, placed her in a coma for 226 days, and left her with brain damage causing chronic paranoia. Now, she lives every day feeling like someone is watching her. Following a friend’s untimely death, she takes steps to rejoin the world of the living. Desperately short on rent money and starting to feel pinched, she recognizes opportunity in a well-dressed man and slips a few hundreds from his wallet, only to find a flash drive bearing a logo that - just like him - seems oddly familiar. Upon further examination of the strange medical documentation it contains, she learns At some point during her coma, she was awake – and he was her doctor. Now, he’ll do anything to bring her back under his care. THE GIRL IN APARTMENT 19 follows Cornelia as she uncovers what really happened while she was sleeping. With the help of a nurse who always had her back and a coworker who would literally run into a burning building to save her, she rediscovers love and friendship, and - upon learning her fiancé might still be alive - develops a taste for vengeance.
This is the worst book review I have ever given. The storyline of the book was good. I have never read a book that had so many grammatical errors, misuse of pronouns and a confused author who couldn’t remember from one page to the next what beverage her main character was drinking. My advice...buy and read at your own risk.
Alexandra Williams created a thrilling and phycological story full of intrigue, mystery and drama. I really liked it! It was my first time reading one of her books and I must say that I am truly amazed with The Girl in Apartment 19: A Psychological Suspense Novel. Williams writing is lyrical and complex and will leave you astonished with the darkness of some moments and how faith on the other hand can be so wonderful. The human being won’t take chances when it comes to survival. Cornelia is without a doubt my favourite character and I am sure that she provided us many jump scares. Cornelia had a car accident which killed her husband and left her in a long coma. When she woke up, she got several brain damages which led her to live in a perpetual state of paranoia and fear. She believes that she is being watched 24/7. One day she meets a man that is familiar to her and after trying to know who he is, she understands that it was her doctor, but what has he to do with this? Is he following her? Cornelia keeps feeling that she’s not in control of her life, but is she a puppet in someone’s plans? Don’t expect this book to be a simple thriller, because you will find so many different topics: grief, love, family and exploitation. You can expect a roller coaster of emotions. It is well paced and masterly written. Believe me when I tell you that it is addictive.
Dr. Liam had not finished his experiment when Cornelia escaped from the hospital with the help of a loyal nurse –Renee. So what could possibly happen next? “The girl in Apt 19” was a great and inquisitive read, and the author Alexandra Williams has effortlessly developed the flow of this exceptional story. It was a distinctive plot that featured this young woman Cornelia and her journey from being ordinary to extraordinary. After a fatal accident, she unexpectedly becomes a victim of this bizarre experiment, and her life begins to change since then. The characters were well developed, and the author brings many elements like anger, fear, or curiosity, together to create a wonderful story. If you are up for mystery fictions, this would be a great pick for you.
I thought this book was so good. It wasn’t like any book that I have ever read. I truly could see this becoming a movie. I hope this book gets noticed by a solid publishing company and help this author write more books. I didn’t notice many issues, but then again, I don’t look for them. I was so captivated by the story itself and the characters I didn’t worry about any “issues” I would recommend this book!
After being in a terrible car accident, we only wish the best for everyone. Well the best is usually in medical care, but it’s not for Cornelia or Nate. While other family members die, these two end up in a “memory unit” and end up fighting for their lives. As they try to regain their strength , Cornelia realizes she’s just someone’s Guinea pig. A true victory for every women out there struggling to get her life back.
I think the premise of the story is absolutely intriguing. I also think the author hasn’t quite found her writing style, which I struggled to follow. The book was never one I wanted to give up on… and I’m looking forward to more works of fiction by the author. I think she will blossom.
When you get to the last page you will get why it was worth the struggle to read… and all you’ll be doing is smiling.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the action and suspense as well as the bittersweet ending. How sad to love and think you lost, to gain it back and then lose forever. I felt many things throughout this book and am grateful for them all. Still not sure what I think of the nurse. I know she was trying to atone for what she had been a part of but in some ways she seemed as obsessive as the doctor.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It kept me engaged throughout. The one thing keeping me from making this a five star review, is the ending was not as hyped as I thought it would be throughout the book. The dramatic ending was short and literally sweet- not as juicy as I had wished.
Bland. It never takes me more than a couple of days to read a book and this one was painfully slow. A few grammatical errors as well. I finished because I don’t like to leave a book unread, but I wouldn’t recommend this one.
Still can't believe I wasted the time. Almost feel like this book was a prank. Definitely should've stopped when the grammar became so distracting. Pointless and plotless.
Took me a few days to finish this and truthfully almost DNF’ed it. I wasn’t getting super into it at first but after about half the book it got fast paced and really interesting!
Not my favorite. Plot had promise but the storyline was choppy, I guess intentionally because she’s lost her memory, but it didn’t flow together well enough to put me on the edge of my seat.
It had major potential. Obviously this was an author that did not have a big name publishing company behind her. The story line was good. Could have been a 5 star with some editing.
This book is clearly self published and self edited. Its got its fair share of grammatical errors, and even a couple of structural errors. DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU!
The premise of this book had me in a chokehold, and I have a very sure feeling that if Williams’ had a publisher and editor, this would have been a best seller. The premise is entirely original, and the twists and turns are gripping.
