The United Stats Constitution is the oldest federal constitution in existence. This document, along with The Bill of Rights, lays out the rights and responsibilities of its citizens. The Founding Fathers embraced the principles of the Enlightenment and a vision of liberty and justice for all.

Educational, enjoyable, and appropriate for young readers!
Today, as never before, our children need the lessons of history, and as with all their other books, the Mojicas have delivered another astonishing educational book for children, packed with historical wisdom, realistic photos, and illustrations.
As always, the famous Miss History is perfectly embedded in each historical act, which provides a flawless learning experience that helps children understand the foundational principles of our Founding Fathers and their vision of liberty and justice for all.
Children will learn some facts about Independence Hall and its history and what happened inside and outside this significant landmark.
I hope that “Little Miss History Travels to Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution” will inspire young readers to love and honor the history of the United States and help them better understand what Independence Hall represents.
These books aren’t full-blown history books; they are small teasers, learning tools, packed with important facts and scenes, easy to remember and understand, small but important starters for something much bigger, which inspire kids to read and learn the most important themes from American history.
And don’t miss a bonus at the end of the book: a glossary that emphasizes what children can learn from this awesome educational book!
Volume 12 of the Little Miss History series tells the readers about Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution.
An illustrated history book is a great idea. I especially enjoyed the combination of the photos of famous historically significant places and the drawings of our guide, Little Miss History herself. Her poses and facial expressions add some emotions to the facts the readers learn, thus making them more accessible.
The book covers a crucial part of history and it must have been hard to squeeze everything of importance into a relatively short book for kids. There is quite a lot of information and I believe it's likely to be challenging for children to read all at once. So this one should probably be used as a long read, something that you take in in short installments and can discuss with your children at length. The glossary at the end of the book provides a great resource for that.
My only gripe is the mismatched suggested age of readers and the actual difficulty of the book. I'd say it would be a good fit for 10-12 year-olds, but probably not much younger because of the sheer volume of information, difficult vocabulary and concepts discussed.
Little Miss History takes readers on a delightful adventure to Philidaephia where they can learn about the founding and forming of the United States government. A lovely combination of illustrations and photos show the 'room where it happened.' Ben Franklin's resting place and the Liberty Bell are some of the sites that are explored. Mojica describes the starting points of the war and a few highlights, as well as the surrender of the British. A wonderful introduction to our country's birth and the dedicated group of radicals who spun the world on its axis.
My daughters and I enjoyed reading "Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INDEPENDENCE HALL & The Museum of the American Revolution." The book is a mix between real life photos and illustrations of Little Miss History mixed in with the photos. Some of the illustrations of Little Miss History are very funny and sure to make kids laugh, all while learning about the history of Independence Hall and the American Revolution. For kids who think history is boring, this is a sure way to get their attention and interested in reading. The real life photos are a great way to visit Philadelphia from the comfort of your own home. There is a glossary in the back of the book that is very useful for expanding on the terms within the book. This could be very helpful for teachers and for homeschooling. The book is a little on the long side, so taking a few days to read through and go over the definitions could be a great learning activity for kids. My daughters and I would recommend this book to kids around ages 7-12 as a great educational resource for learning Pennsylvania history. Disclosure: We received a PDF copy of this book and we are voluntarily sharing our review to help others with their buying decisions.
In her journey through the past, "Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INDEPENDENCE HALL & The Museum of the American Revolution" and takes us along for a fun and informative journey. As in previous Little Miss History books, Mr. Mojica's genius employment of mixed media transports young readers into the past so they can virtually experience the historical drama. In this book, readers visit the famous Independence Hall, where they learn about the Founding Fathers' foundational principles and their vision of Liberty and Justice for all.
Kudos to author Barbara Ann Mojica for another fabulous edition, which is sure to garner yet more recognitions of excellence to this multi-award-winning series.
“Independence Hall” is another appealing, accessible history book by Barbara Ann Mojica. It’s a creative combination of drawings and photos, with interesting historical details. I had never seen the huge copy of the Declaration of Independence carved into a wall; it’s inspirational. There’s information on the Liberty Bell, American Revolution, Connecticut Compromise . . . all important to the formation of the United States of America. The detailed glossary at the end is also useful. It’s a great addition to this history series!
As a Philadelphia native, I’ve walked these cobblestone streets, visited the homes and shops on Elfreth’s Alley, and stood in the hallowed Halls where American Freedom and Liberty were born. Today, as all of our freedoms teeter on the edge, it is more important than ever that we impart this history to our children. As with all of the Miss History books, the vivid and realistic photos and illustrations are both nostalgic and entertaining, with the added touch of the iconic image of Miss History implanted into each scene. I would have liked to read more of the conflicts and courage of our Founding Fathers as they talked, argued, and compromised to create the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, their prescience in knowing how fragile these tenets are, yet how strong a foundation they gave us in creating a representative government. Still, with the inclusion of the Glossary of important terminology, Mojica has provided a perfect tool for educators to create a syllabus of study and an opportunity to expand on the facts presented in the book. One of Victor Ramon Mojica’s illustrations (I won’t divulge which one; I’m sure you will discover it) stands out for me as a gesture of reverence for the liberties that we hold dear and must not lose. One of the many reasons to add this book to your child’s library.
Barbara Ann Mojica hits another pitch-perfect note with her latest offering in the Little Miss History series, “Travel to Independence Hall.” I’ve only driven through the city of brotherly love, but I feel as if I had a jolly tour after reading Barbara’s newest release.
This non-fiction/graphic novel combo makes this period in American history come to life. Artist Victor Ramon Mojica overlays photographs with playful illustrations of period-dressed Miss History (love her cool 21st-century sunglasses with old-timey garb!) as she explains each site’s significance. She also spotlights tidbits to engage kids, like George Washington’s camp tent and real cannon used in battle.
I highly recommend “Little Miss History Travels to Independence Hall” for grades 3 and up. The book’s graphic novel style will appeal to reluctant readers, too. It’s perfect for a classroom social studies unit (with a glossary of places and events from the book) and is a must-have for any trip to Philadelphia with kids.
Please note: I received an advance reader copy of this book and want to offer my honest, unbiased opinion of its content. Cat Michaels MS, Ed.

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INDEPENDENCE HALL & The Museum of the American Revolution is a book that brings history to the reader. It touches on the beginnings of the American Revolution as well as the importance of Independence Hall during the Revolution. Miss HISTORY shows you the insides of Independence hall as it stands now as a museum then goes back in time to show you how it was important during the Revolution. She illustrates what issues begat the war, where it started, George Washington's gallant efforts and where the war ended. Then there is a nice helpful glossary in the back. Very well constructed and written to instill interest in this part of history in young minds. I received a copy of the book from the author for free.
