First In Series Sampler, Volume 1

Rate this book
Do you enjoy samples, say a box of chocolates, filled with assorted samples to pick from? Here is a box set of cozy mysteries and cozy paranormal mysteries to try out. Each book is the first in the series to give you a taste of what the series will be like. I've set all the books in tropical South Florida, where the beautiful beaches hold more than sunny days of fun. There is plenty of murder and mystery, pets, and amateur sleuths following the clues. Mist At The Beach House brings Morgan Seaver to her childhood home only to be blamed for the murder of her aunt, and a family legend of mermaids and revenge that must be sorted out. Along with a mysterious Kitten from the mist, Morgan begins to unravel the past. Killer Focus finds Piper Avery having a bad day, an awful day. A pink slip, her 50th birthday, and being notified her mother and mother-in-law have bought the house across the street are only the start. Because the next thing she knows, she has discovered a body on the beach. Add in a new dog, a bit of a diva, and Piper's life begins to change. Whispered Voices are what Mac now hears after a dangerously close hit by a bolt of lightning. But these aren't the friendly voices of friends or family. No, she can now hear the voices of killers as they plan the next murder. Mac must listen to the voices in her head to solve the mysteries before it's too late. And she must accept that not all fairytales are make-believe. Murder for Neptune's Trident is about Megan Cassidy's witnessing a brutal murder and her efforts to figure out why the young man was killed--before his killers find her. Along with the help of her clue sniffing beagle, Barney, Megan finds out that the past can really haunt you.

Fun Cozy Mysteries, Paranormal Mysteries (with a fantasy twist) all set on the Florida Coast. A Romantic Christian Series, with a strong sense of family set in upstate New York. These are the stories Victoria writes.

A hopeless animal lover, Victoria adds plenty of cats and dogs in each book, and her love of gardening shows through the characters. As a storyteller, it is important for Victoria to draw the reader into the story; to make you feel the sultry tropical heat or the numbing cold of the north.

Victoria and her husband live in South Florida and own a landscape garden service. Two feisty cats make themselves at home, usually on her desk as she writes.

A lover of a good mystery, she is an avid reader and likes to be outdoors. When she is not reading, you may find her working on a needlepoint project.

Highly recommend!

I read two out of these four books. Amazing!!! Two of my favorite books ever!

Whispered Voices
I absolutely loved it!
I was immediately pulled in, I loved the characters, I loved the setting. Well written, pageturnery; really really good! From the first page it was immediately exciting. The kind of exciting when you know you’ve got a great book in your hands and will have a wonderful time reading it!
Mac lets the one thing she’s been warned against her entire life happen: she gets struck by lighting. And boy does that have some major consequences! I liked Mackenzie form the beginning. She discovers her new powers, she forms new friendships and there’s of course the mystery. But I won’t spoil anything about that, just that I couldn’t put it down! It was that suspenseful!!! And Shaylee, the kitten, is super cute! And wise… with all-knowing eyes…

Mist at the Beach House
I loved it!
A really well-structured book with a good flow, good pacing, a nice cozy feel, likeable characters, a cute cat, and it had pageturnerability. I felt pulled in and I immediately liked Morgan and was interested. It kept my interest throughout. And I kept thinking about Morgan when I finished the book, so it’s a memorable book. When I finished, I was left with that nice, excited feeling of wanting more.
Like I said: I really loved Morgan, and kitten Misty! Morgan’s character is well developed and I can’t wait to see her grow more. Gabe I also loved. I think the author has done a wonderful job with the characters! And I love Morgan’s profession!
And I loved that paranormal element!

I did also read later books in the other two series, and loved those as well. The characters are amazing! Why don’t you try for yourself? You’re going to love them, I’m sure!

An excellent value box set

This is an excellent value sampler set of the first books in four series by this author. Mist at the Beach House my personal favourite and Whispered Voices are on the paranormal side of the genre and Killer Focus and Murder for Neptunes Trident are on the standard side, all have attractive settings in the American South and have excellent characters, entertaining plotlines and cute pets. The writing is generally excellent my only quibble is the proof reading should have picked up numerous spelling and grammatical errors but other than that an excellent introduction to this author and one I will be reading more by.

This author needs a better proofreader and some creative writing tips. Seriously, to mix up they're and their, then and than is not OK. I finished the first in the series, but I don't feel compelled to finish any more.
