As summer begins, the wood comes alive with new sounds, but without a distinctive one of her own to join in with, Rabbit feels left out. With the help of his friends, Fletcher decides to put on a show where everyone’s talents can shine. Combining emotive, lyrical storytelling with an engagement with nature, the adventures of Fletcher coincide with the characteristics of the four seasons, inspired directly by author Julia Rawlinson’s experiences with her own children and their inquisitiveness about nature.
I grew up in London, close to Richmond Park - a beautiful deer park big enough to get lost in, where I got to know lots of the animals who have since popped up in my stories.
I have always loved writing poetry - I enjoy the sound and rhythm of words and the first things I published were poems. When I had my children I started writing stories for picture books, and my first book, Fred and the Little Egg, was published in 2005. Since then I have written lots of stories about rabbits, bears, mules, dragons, hedgehogs, squirrels, mice, a kind-hearted but easily confused fox... and a girl called Molly.
I have been lucky enough to work with some wonderful illustrators, and my books have been published in many languages.
Rabbit thinks she is talentless when she compares herself to the other animals in the meadow, but Fletcher helps her find her talent of bouncing and jumping better than other animal and puts on a show for the other animals to see Rabbit showcased. Cute and heartwarming with beautiful watercolor illustrations. Read on hoopla through my library.
