The Seven Sons Ranch Box Set includes Rhett’s Trivial Marriage, Tripp’s Trivial Tie and Liam’s Invented I-Do. Each is an entertaining story about a marriage of convenience between one of the rich brothers and a woman he adores who likes the him but needs the marriage for other reasons besides love. Each of the women has a hard time with relationships. It’s a bit of a stretch to think all three brothers could do the same thing, and I would think they’d learn from the others’ experiences, but oh well. I guess, money can buy anything, even love. Each book tells a complete story, but they also introduce relationships for future books. I do hope the brothers in the books after the first three have relationships that aren’t bought and paid for. These women in these stories strike me as a bit shallow and undeserving of their husband’s hearts.
Rhett’s Trivial Marriage is about Evelyn, a match maker, and Rhett. They get married because Evelyn can’t get business as a single woman. They’re friends (both with crushes on the other), so it kind of makes sense. The relationship goes through it’s ups and downs. It sometimes feels like these characters purposefully make trouble for themselves. At least this one isn’t about the money, even if Rhett is ridiculously rich.
Tripp’s Trivial Tie is about Tripp and Ivory, a single mom who’s ex is trying to get custody of her kid because she’s broke. It would sure be easier if she’d just let him help her financially, but it should be a good match anyway, except Ivory is a cold hearted woman who has a hard time with emotions and can’t recognize or admit she’s falling in love with her husband.
Liam’s Invented I-Do is about Liam and Carli, Evelyn’s sister who runs the next door ranch (into the ground). Carli is sweet but ridiculously financially irresponsible. She hasn’t paid her mortgage for a year and instead of asking for help from anyone including her billionaire neighbors (and brother in law), she hides the fact. To top it off, she doesn’t have a clue how to run a ranch and has run it into the ground. It’s a good thing Liam rescues her, though perhaps she’d be better off without the ranch she doesn’t know how to run. I realize she’s too proud to take money from anyone (except her husband/ fiancé), but a much easier solution would have been for Liam to buy her loan, then she could have taken her time dating and getting to know him instead of rushing into things.
The narrator of the audiobooks does a nice job.
