The final revenge is on John Remington’s twin brother, Jake. Their lives had finally settled down, both raising families and completely out of harm’s way. No more killing or running, and no more cancer. Life was damn near perfect until the enemy returned, making Jake their pawn. A bargaining chip for yet another cure that hasn’t been found. The race is on to save his life.
Held in captivity, Jake’s only options are to either escape his captors or become a killer. Kill or be killed.
Remington will have to risk his family to save his brother from the same people who held him captive, tortured him, and tried to return him to a life of crime. Their mistake was counting Remington out. They didn’t plan on his willingness to give up his life again for his brother.
Jake has been through a lot. He survived cancer, outlived having a hitman going after him and has finally found the love of his live, Zoe. Jake and his twin brother John have always been close. When his brother went missing, Jake took care of John's wife Brooklyn the best he could. Jake and Brooklyn managed to free John from the demons that held him captive and they've been living in peace for the last four years. Jake is looking forward to becoming a husband and a father for the first time. Jake has his own garage and he has to go and deliver a car to one of his clients. When Jake doesn't come back home like he's supposed to, Zoe has no idea what to do. Why didn't Jake come back and who's behind his disappearance?
Brooklyn has always been wanted because of her brilliant brain. Her worst enemy and the man who has tried to take Brooklyn and John out before, Knox, needs her to create a cure for his disease. Knox is a coldhearted man, who won't back down before he gets what he wants. He knows that the only way to get Brooklyn to do what he needs, is through her loved ones. John has vowed to never be the killer he once was again, but he'll do anything to keep his family safe. When evil is closing in from every side, which choices does he have to make to keep everyone alive?
Jake is a kind and caring man. I fell in love with him ever since I first met him in Taking Down Brooklyn. Jake has a big heart and he'll stop at nothing to keep his loved ones happy. He never had the dark side that took over John in the past, but he'll kill to escape if he has to. Jake has learned a lot from John and he's skilled in taking advantage of every opportunity. Jakes loves Zoe very much and he can't wait to meet their little baby. I was rooting for them to succeed in taking out the man who's been after them so many times, so Jake can get the family life he deserves.
Taking Jake is the third book in the Brooklyn Series. I loved the first two books and have been hooked ever since I read Taking Down Brooklyn. Taking Jake is a story about finding true love and making impossible choices. K.B. Andrews and Kelly Moore are brilliant authors and I love that they're even more amazing when they write together. They have found a writing style that works for both of them and that makes their descriptions easy to follow. Taking Jake is a fast-paced story filled with action and suspense. I couldn't wait to find out how the series would end and I read Taking Jake in one sitting. I'm a big fan of these two authors and already know I'm going to read every single book they will write in the future.
Finally, John's sweet and goofy brother Jake gets his own story. He is healthy, happy, in love, and a soon-to-be father. However, we know that in this series, things to get turned upside down very quickly. Although in prison, Knox is back in the picture, Jake is kidnapped, and Brooklyn is under tremendous pressure to find a cure for Alzheimer's. And of course, everything has to go wrong when Zoe is extremely close to her due date with her and Jake's first baby.
Brooklyn continued to amaze with her skills in the lab, moving on to cure Alzheimer's - since she's already cured cancer. There's a part of me that found this element almost too much and too far-fetched, but I reminded myself that this is, in fact, a fictional story so I just went with it. Overall, I love everything about this novel, especially all of the silly pranks and jokes between the two couples.
These two ladies have blown me away, once again, with suspense, romance, exciting characters, and an addictive story line. I loved the new character of Zoe and of course, loved reconnecting with John, Brooklyn, and the rest of their family. Taking Jake has plenty of humor, sad moments, and moments so happy that I wanted to jump up and down and clap! This one should definitely be added to your TBR, but remember to check out the other two books in the series first or if won't be nearly as fantastic a read!
Kelly meticulously creates characters in her book that are so compelling I know ahead I’ll be up til the wee hours unable to stop reading. This is such an interesting series so if you haven’t read the first 2 books, I would start there. You will get the most out of this trilogy that way and they are both fast paced, quick reads. Jake and John are twins. John is a retired killer who fell in live with his hit in book 1. He was hired to kill Brooklyn but instead fell in love with her. They are married now with 2 beautiful children. Jake is engaged to Zoe, Brooklyn’s assistant. In book 1, Brooklyn was targeted for her cancer cure. Now Brooklyn and Zoe are working on a cure for Alzheimer’s. Knox who hired John originally is now living in a minimum security prison. As the title suggests, this time it is Jake who is kidnapped and Knox is using him to get John and Brooklyn to do something for him. I don’t know how Kelly continues to come up with these amazing original stories, but thank goodness for us, she does. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book but purchased a copy as well.
“She gave me something I didn’t know I needed; a life, a real life with family, friends and love.”
Someone hidden in the dark is desperate and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, what will save him and for that, he is willing to use and destroy anyone in his way. John and Jake went thru hell and back but now they live a happy life with their loved ones. They are finally free. But……..when they finally feel at ease in their everyday life and buried their past…. a piece of hell still lurks around the corner.
Once again John will have to let his old hitman side resurface when some evil soul threatens his family….and now all hell will break loose. Jake has something to really fight for and he won’t let anyone or anything come between him, his fiancé and their unborn child. The brothers will fight to end it once for all; they deserve their happily ever after…. Will they all come out alive?
Loved the action, the drama and of course the strong bond you can feel between the brothers and the struggles they are going thru.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series about John and Brooklyn as they are my favourite couple of all time and this read delivers once again with heart pounding action with some suspense as John once again is thrust back into his old world when his brother, Jake, has been kidnapped. The story picks up a few years after the last book and Jake has a girlfriend, Zoe, who is pregnant with their first child. Everything is all rosy until someone from John’s past resurfaces, threatening not only Jake but his whole family. The Remington brothers don’t stand for anyone wanting to hurt their families even if it means for John to return to his old ways and Jake to do everything he can, even kill, to survive and return to Zoe. I devoured every page, and even when I was done I still wanted to read more. Not only is there action throughout the story, there is quite a bit of humour that had me laughing with some of the antics of the brothers and the descriptions are spot on with everything making me feel like I’m right in the room with the characters. The story flows beautifully w/o missing a beat, the steamy scenes...oh my...the steamy scenes, and what I loved the most is the variety of the POV’s of all the characters...genius !! The love that John and Brooklyn have shine through with the fireworks and sparks still there even after many years and now Jake and Zoe are right there with them. I could go on and on and on but what will always remain the same for me is that John and Brooklyn are still #1 in my heart. Thank you to the talented authors for continuing their story and I’m keeping my fingers crossed there will be more on the Remington’s.
After having read and enjoyed the first two books in this series, I was excited to see Jake get his own book. Although, don't worry, series favorites John and Brooklyn, are essential to this story too. It's been four years since the events of the last book, and Jake is settling down with his girlfriend and about to become a father. Out of nowhere, John's past comes back to put everyone in danger. This was a great add on to the Brooklyn series, almost like catching up with old friends. Plenty of romance and suspense, what a perfect combination!
I have to admit that I had my doubts of a book about Jake being anywhere near as good as John’s story, but was I ever wrong! This book is fantastic!
Who knew Jake was such a hottie? Along with his prowess, Jake has some serious survival skills. I love the full-on hard action and suspense this entire book brings as well as hot and heavy smexy stuff! It’s not all serious when minions are involved and a fiancé accidentally sees “things” she can’t unsee. There is awkward humor and sweet stuff to smile about as well as down and dirty privates kicking suspense!
I love the family bond these characters portray and the selflessness of helping people despite the imminent danger involved. The characters in this book have great chemistry which makes this story so real, believable and well worth reading. Its well written, fast paced danger and nail-biting suspense keep this story exciting and the reader turning the pages. But at the end of the day, this is a very sweet love story that you don’t want to end.
I was given an ARC and here's my honest review. When I started reading this book I didn't expect this! I thought of Jake' story as a separate one from John and Brook's, instead I was happily surprised to find the characters of the previous books back! Now everyone is older and has a lot to lose: a partner or children. The sense of family is very strong, I liked to see everyone fight together to save and help a member of the family. I loved the fast paced action, the banter that was present even in critic situations. I think this is the book I liked the most of the whole series!
I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. It was nice to see Jake getting a turn at kicking some @ss and showing his protective side. Although this is Jake's story, John, Brook, and of course Zoe, are all included. And since this book begins four years later, even L. J. and Jack make appearances. Even Matthew is back! This was an exciting read and I recommend it!
The gang is back with another suspenseful and twist n turns story. I am glad Jake got his story. John and Brook are still bada**. Jake was kicking butt too. I enjoyed every second of this book. Go Remington's. I hope Kelly & K.B. write another book together.
Another great book written by these a authors. I wasn't expecting Knox to be present in this book but I was glad to hear a little more about him. Jake seems to have grown in this book & became so strong. It was nice to see him become stronger, sexier, & funnier.
Suspense and surprises around every corner! I love that, even though this story is technically about Jake and Zoe, John and Brook still play key parts! Is this the end of the Brooklyn series? I hope we get more from this fantastic author!!! 5 stars!
Jake and John Remington are twins. John is a retired killer. He was hired to kill Brooklyn in a previous book as she came up with a cure for cancer. Instead of killing her, he fell in love with her. They are married and have two beautiful children. Jake is engaged to Brooklyn’s assistant Zoe who is about to have a baby. The two are working on a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Knox who was the greedy man that had hired John to kill Brooklyn has been moved to a minimum security prison. Jake is kidnapped and Knox is using him for leverage to get John and Brooklyn to do something for him.
This was another exciting book where John is trying to find his brother so he doesn’t have to do Knox’s dirty work. Jake is put in a position that he may have to hurt people, which is something he has never done. Time is running out for everyone. I never could stand Knox and I wanted him taken out! I loved seeing John and Brooklyn happy with their children. I strongly encourage you to read this book, but not until after you have read the two before it to get the full effect of the story. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Well written book 3 in The Series about Remington twins. Few years passed form Brooklyn and John's books. They have children. Jack has gf and baby on The way. Suddenly old demons arise and They Try to hurt Them on every possible way. This book will keep you in State of feeling constant danger and being on The Edge.
For the last four years Jake has fought hard to build the happy life he now enjoys with his pregnant girlfriend Zoe. He has overcome cancer and he and his family have triumphed over the danger that pursued his family due to her research so he is not going to be brought down by the people who have taken him captive.
Brooklyn’s research is being targeted again except this time they have gone after Jake rather than his brother John. Jake has learnt well from John and will do whatever is necessary to make it back to Zoe while John is on a mission to bring his brother back and make sure the culprits who are responsible are dealt with no matter the cost.
This story takes you on an adventure filled with suspense, twists but the most important part is love and family. This is an amazing addition to the series that is not to be missed. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Splendid Read – Intrigue, Danger, Family and Romance!!
Please read these in order – they are quick read, because you will NOT be able to them down…… (Yes, they are that good).
The title gives it away – Jake is taken for an impossible ransom – not money, but certain specific requirements. In an earlier book John is taken – his world was danger and killing so he is better able to deal. Jake on the other hand, has led a fairly normal life, and does not have the training/ background to deal with his situation.
John has one of the impossible tasks, and his wife Brooklyn has one of her own. Struggle and guilt plays a part as their past come back to haunt them and threaten Jake. These books show great depth of character and it is a pleasure to return to their world and join them in this piece of their life.
Fast-pace, emotional, sexy and creative – a compelling read!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
The ending of this series about the twins that has not had an easy life. Fate has thrown a lot down on them. This is a story that takes place a few years after the two first books in the series. A kind of an update. But it has a lot going on in it. The mix of action, drama, darkness and emotions makes it worth the read. It is very fast paced but it suits the story. Likeable characters that are well described they have passionate attraction and develops nicely through the story. I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating.
Once again a story that puts you on the edge of your seat with action, suspense, and heat. I was happy when Jake got his own story. He's a sweet, funny, charming character and after everything he has endured he deserves his own happiness. As the other books in this series, I devoured this story in one setting. Strong characters and a storyline that keeps you wanting more, will have readers devouring this book.
I’ll just say I’m so glad that Jake gets his own book! I loved him from reading the previous two Brooklyn Series books and if anyone deserves a happily ever after, it’s Jake Remington. This book starts out with Jake and his girlfriend, Zoe expecting their first child. In this book, Jake is the one that is kidnapped. An enemy of John and Brooklyn knows about the love of this family and he knows that they will meet his demands to keep Jake safe. What if they can’t though? Brooklyn is tasked with finding another cure, like it’s no big deal. I’m not going to leave any spoilers, but I recommend this book, especially if you’ve been waiting to read more about Jake.
Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you read Book 1 & 2 so that you really enjoy the backstory and really understand the story.
After overcoming Cancer and finding his happily ever after, past circumstances catch up with Jake. What follows is an action packed thrill ride in the form of words! It will definitely keep you turning the pages!
After everything John & Brooklyn went through in the first couple of books, I knew Jake's story will be a good one, and although I wish we got to see more of the beginning of his & Zoe's story, I was still really happy to read about their now. A great thrilling romance.
And they knock it out of the park again. I went into this book expecting it to be similar to the previous stories but more along the lines of just Jake and his struggles and triumphs. To my surprise and pleasure, the story is told from multiple point of views. The whole book has many different events take place and at every plot twist, you may get to see John's perspective or Jake's perspective or Brooklyn's perspective or even Zoe's perspective. It was a different way of writing a story. It was nice to see what's going on in John and Brooklyn's life. And I really liked that we got to see flashbacks to how Jake and Zoe became one but didn't take away from the story of what's going on right now. I truly enjoyed the story and it was a nice add on to the series from the first two. I truly hope that I get to stay in there happily ever after. All four of them.
This series is one of my very favorite series ever, of all time!
Kelly Moore and K.B. Andrews have written such an incredible series here that it's hard to find the words to convey just how truly awesome it is!
It is so suspenseful that sometimes you forget to breathe! And the passion and romance, takes your breath away at times. The characters are wonderful (even those you truly hate) and the writing is some of the best I've read. Once you start, you won't be able to stop, and you won't want to, not until you've finished and you know how it all turns out!
If you don't read this series, you're truly denying yourself some of the best writing you will ever read!
A exciting well written ending to a great series I had to finish it in one sitting the suspense was to much. The story flows smoothly and is suspenseful, full of action, twists and turns, and let's not forget the steamy scenes (holy cow hot). Basically finding true love and making impossible choices. It is written in a variety of the POV's of all the characters. Jake is kidnapped and Knox is using him to use Brooklyn for her disease during skills again. I voluntarily reviewed and loved how the series wrapped up.
This is the third book in this series and I have loved each book. I am so glad that Jake get his story and his happy ending with Zoe. This is fast paced with lots of action, drama and romance. Author Moore and Author Andrews have quickly become two of my favorite Indie authors. You won't be disappointed with this series or any of the other titles by each of them.
this is the third in the series, I have loved Jake all through and am glad to finally get his story! Jake and Zoe are ama-zing! This story is fast paced and full of action and emotion and will keep you on your toes right to the end! I received an arc of this story that i happily reviewed
Solid 4.5 star I just love with this series after each book you think it is the end and then there is another one as well as how the books all link together even though a few years have passed. I thought it was great that Jake got his own book as he is a big part of Brook and Johns lives as well as their kids. This time around not only does Brook and John have something to lose but so does Jake in a bog way, but while reading you are left not knowing if they can do enough to all get out alive at the end!
I loved getting to read the final book in this series. There was action, humor and of course romance. This book was fast paced. I was to the end before I even realized it. Jake let nothing get in his way to keep him from being there for when his daughter was being born. I loved the story of when Jake and Zoe met for the first time. I laughed so hard I was in tears. It has to be one of the great stories they will have the chance to share in the furture. Not everyday you wake up wearing a bra and wearing make-up and are completely clueless to how you got that way. I love how Jake has found the love of his life Zoe. Knox reappears this time wanting John to freed him from prison and wanting Brooklyn to create the the cure for Alzheimers. Brooklyn and Zoe have been searching for the cure for years. Knox gets exactly what he deserves in the very end. Karma way of repeating itself.
I’m so glad for Jake to have his own book! I love this series! These characters are all so strong & have all been through so much. I love the action, romance & suspense that has been artfully written into every one of these books. I’m so glad that Jake’s book happens a few years from when Taking Back Brooklyn ended. I’m happy for the family updates & really enjoyed Jake & Zoe’s story.
OMG they have written another must read.I couldn't put it down.It has every thing you could ever want in a romance novel. Wonderful characters, terrific story line with love, passion, mystery and a very HEA. This has been a terrific series.I received this book as an ARC and this is a honest review of what I thought of the book.
