Colony X

Rate this book
The ambush came out of nowhere.
Our fleet was decimated.
We were flung deep into uncharted space on the far side of the nebula.
Then the signal came—a mysterious distress call from an unknown planet.
I’m Space Marine Corporal Jeremiah Helgerson and my job is simple. Find the source of the distress call and save whoever is still alive. Get in, get out. Easy work for a space marine. But no matter how well trained you are, missions never go as planned, and this one was a disaster from the start.
Now we’re stranded, and they’re hunting us.
Those nightmares.
Ferocious, unstoppable.
And so very hungry.

Very imaginative. Great character development.

I enjoyed the storyline. This author has high potential. The book itself needed human proofreading, as I read at least 20 correctly spelled words used wrongly, caused by computer spellcheck. Not enough research concerning military ranks and customs, but probably not noticeable by non military. I was very bothered by the use of “Dr Mangler” in genetic engineering. Clearly much too close to Dr Mengle of WWII German SS fame. I would also suggest one syllable names for the main characters. It would be easier for the writer and readers.
This is the first time I have read a work from the author, and I mean my criticism to hopefully benefit him. Great imagination! Review by 70 year old retired lieutenant colonel and attorney.

Loved this story idea!

Great story of space marines going off task to initiate a rescue of colonists in an unknown world. A world inhabited with horrible monsters that the marines are no match for. It was so exciting that I had to read it straight through. Lucky it was the weekend! Such a surprise ending also!

Great Adventure And Action

This is a great story with non-stop action. If you like space opera and fighting marines you will like this book. The storyline is well written and developed. I found it easy to dive into. The characters were easy to identify with and follow. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

10 little indians

A decent enough story, but reads like it was dictated by someone with bad pronounciation to a machine with no knowledge of English homonyms. Example: liquid kept in a VILE???

Excitingly Different

This book is a different take on what humans will do to reach the stars. This book is exciting and fast paced. It has sad parts as all Military books do. Give it a chance, it might surprise you.

A little like alien

A good fast moving read with a lot of interesting twists. I like the way he involved the alien gestation to the story.
