𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱: 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼 𝗕𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱: 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗱𝗱𝘀 𝟮 𝗕𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹.

Before hoping directly into my opinion regarding this book, let me tell you that this is the second book in the series of Beating Odds. I’ve already read and reviewed the previous book and praised the author for doing an excellent job. Now, if we talk about the second book “Hardhearted”, it’s a dazzling title and develops a lot of assumption in the reader’s mind about the story. However, by the end of the story, everything will make sense and will fall into the place. I’ll suggest everybody to read rather assume.

We’ve three main character in the story, namely, Swag, Tyler, and Travis. All three characters have their own distinctive personality and they develop as the plot advances. Trust me, you can’t choose one favourite because everyone has their own story and they are interconnected and one is incomplete without another. We find that these friends escaped out of Brazil with the assistance of Cartel and landed in San Jose, Costa Rica. We’ll get to see a ton of new adventurous in the new city. Indeed, they are taking orders directly from King Kia Costello, and King isn’t one to play around. Life doesn't stay pleasant and mundane for long and soon after, friends become foes a great deal of savage things occur close by.

The author has written a wonderful story and he himself claims that he is going to take you on a wild ride. I felt that the plot was quite interesting and author doesn’t let it become boring for once. Who doesn't like a story which incorporates love, murder, deceit and revenge. It’s all about the chill and the thrill. I liked all the twists and turns in the story as they were plotted very wisely. I pretty much loved everything about this book. MUST BUY.

The series moved at a moderate pace. The plot was clear and the characters, while only 2 were interesting, were developed. I think there were a few missed opportunities to strengthen the series. But, I will be honest and say that my feelings about the book may have changed had I read it instead of listening to it. The narrator did not have the rough edge needed to deliver this story in a way that was engaging. Between the lack of power and the mispronunciation of certain words (granted that could have been because the manuscript had it written that way), it distracted me as a listener from the story multiple times. While this series was not for me, I can see the author's creative mind at work and will try another novel or series.
