Time-Traveler's Highland Love #3

To Win a Highland Scot

Rate this book
Fate brought them together—or was it something else entirely?

The Fae took everything Scottish warrior Boyd Macleod had. Cursed and alone, he existed for a hundred years but never truly lived. Not until she arrived. The Sassenach is quick-witted, outspoken, and entirely too beautiful for his peace of mind. She stirs in him a hunger he hasn’t felt in…he can’t even remember how long. Now, that hunger won’t be quenched by anything short of possessing her—mind, body, and soul—forever.

Maya Harris has no idea what kind of strange magic threw her into the past. All she knows for sure is that she doesn’t belong here. She can’t afford to let herself get too attached to Boyd. The powerful, sensual Highlander is not for her. But the longer she spends with him, the harder it becomes to remember why she shouldn’t give in to his heated seduction…

A river of time flows between them. Will love be enough to bridge it? Or will Boyd and Maya remain star-crossed forever?

What could be better than being thrown back in time with a fierce, braw highlander? Well for Maya, her unexpected journey brings her back in time from the current century!

Laird Boyd MacLeod is cursed to live forever, thinking to never love again. But when Maya ends up in his castle, it seems his heart may come back alive!

In usual Tamara Gill fashion, prepare to be entertained and not be able to put it down until the last page!

Although time travel is not my cup of tea, I love highlander historical romances and I love Ms. Gills books. I also love steamy romances so I guess I got the best of both "worlds" in the romance, *no punt intended.
There were sad time, happy times and funny times that made the book so enjoyable.
Thank you for the ARC and I look forward to reading more from the author.

A tapestry, a twinkle in time and love like no other work together to end a curse. I normally don’t read time travel but I’m so glad I tried this. I have gone back and got the other two before this. I can’t say enough about the work the author put into this to make all the pieces fit together. The characters all have such depth and draw you into the story. It’s a little trip back in time for you too.

Scottish warrior Boyd Macleod thought he was happily married to Sorcha until the Fae took her & cursed him to immortality until he found a greater love. Cursed and alone, he existed for a hundred years but never truly lived. Not until she arrived. The Sassenach is quick-witted, outspoken, and entirely too beautiful for his peace of mind. She stirs in him a hunger he hasn’t felt in…he can’t even remember how long. Maya Harris has no idea what kind of strange magic threw her into the past when she touched a six hundred year old tapestry. All she knows for sure is that she doesn’t belong here or does she?
This is the third book in the series & is very easily read on its own although a couple of characters from a previous book do make cameo appearances. I loved this very well written, engrossing book, I was drawn in from cover to cover & left wanting more. I loved both Boyd & Maya, he’s the quintessential highland laird, strong on the outside with a soft centre & when he fell for Maya he fell hard even though he tried to fight it. She coped so well with travelling back in time & was strong & down to earth. Their chemistry was electric, I loved how the sexual tension built but also loved their verbal banter. I absolutely loved the road to their HEA, which took me on a gamut of emotions, from being on the edge of my seat to crying.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I loved Maya and Boyd story and how they navigated their way around the curse of the Fae queen. Maya is drawn to the tapestry that hangs on the wall of Druiminn Castle which depicts a scene of times gone by when lairds and clans fought and believed in the Fae. When Maya touchs it she is transported back in time to fourteenth century Scotland where she does not belong to the home of Boyd Macleod chief of the Macleod clan. Boyd and Maya interactions are lovely to read and their story had it's ups and downs especially with the Fae Queen popping in and causing mischief.

Transported across the centuries, the unsuspecting Maya lands up in the keep of Laird Boyd Macleod. Whilst she is aware of the history and Boyd's loss of his half-fae wife, as well the legend of his immortality, Boyd thinks that Maya Harris is yet another young lady being thrown at him in the hopes of winning his hand in marriage. This story is romantic and full of adventure, war, and tension between the mortal and fae worlds, making it an entertaining read. I loved both Boyd and Maya's characters and the fact that despite time and distance, they are so well suited to one another. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Highlanders and time travel
To Win a Highland Scot is the third book in the Time-Traveler’s Highland Love series by Tamara Gill, but although the stories are connected, each book is a stand-alone novel. This book is fast paced and I was drawn into the story as Maya and Boyd discover what is important and what they really want from life, despite their very different backgrounds. Throw in a curse, clan battles and a vengeful Fae and you get this action-packed highlander romance. Recommended read.
I read an Advance Reader's Copy (ARC) of the ebook and I'm leaving a voluntary review.

A great time travel story with Maya bring thrown back 500 years in time where she meet Boyd MacLeod and do their story starts. Boyd, cursed by the Fae, is immortal, at least until he meets a woman who wins his heart and breaks the curse. The story is full of adventure, with a clan war mixed in and two people who discover love, even though they are from different times. It is a great love story that is a fun read and will pull at your heart strings. I would highly recommend it as a great read.

Faeries, a magic tapestry, and a romping good romance!

Fast paced story that quickly captured my attention, mixes fantasy with romance for a light-hearted read that I could not put down! Even though the plot was a bit predictable, I enjoyed this story. As there are steamy scenes, I would recommend for a mature audience.

This seems to bring the series full circle with Boyd and Maya's story. Maya works in the Druimainn Castle in 2021 and is taken back in time to 1510 where she meets Boyd McCleod. Boyd has spent the last 100 years cursed by the Fae Queen, missing his half fae wife, and dreaming of revenge against the Fae queen. Maya and Boyd manage to overcome all odds, fall in love and hopefully get their HEA.

I absolutely enjoyed this outstanding book, so much. Boyd is so stubborn, I loved how Maya was able to thaw his heart without even trying. The descriptions and action through most of this book keeps you turning till the end. There is so many parts of this book I want to tell you about, that I enjoyed immensely, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. In fact I purchased a copy after receiving an advanced reader copy, since I liked it so much.

Maya finds herself thrown back in time and lands in a keep that belongs to Boyd Macleod. He feels cursed as his wife was killed and she was half fae. He sees Maya and thinks she there as other women before her to try and convince him to marry them. But Maya being from the future knows some of his history and is spunky and doesn’t let what’s happened keep her down. But the two are drawn together and it hot as they try to figure out their way together. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

To Win A Highland Scot tells a great tale of Maya, who is from the year 2021 who time travels back to 16th century Scotland. Marrying the laird is the last thing she wants, but time and a little magic comes into play. A fun story for time travelers!

e in qualsiasi epoca,

ma senza carta igienica, beh,

quella era tutta un’altra storia.

Vi invito a leggere questo romanzo e a fare un salto nel passato, iniziata la lettura non potrete che divorarlo.

She one day touches a forbidden tapestry she is cleaning and boom she is in the sixteenth century! The castle Druiminn housekeeper notices immediately that Maya is a time walker, Yet Boyd still insists he has no romantic interest in Maya. However, her time travel origins are kept hidden from the Laird, as he would blame the hated fae if he knew the truth.

Yet he can’t seem to stop feeling things for Maya Harris and feeling things he has not felt for over a century!

Now the fae is showing up again because he is feeling things for Maya and if he feels love again the curse will be broken. Boyd would finally be able to die in peace and stop watching the ones he cares for shrivel up and die. He needs an heir before he dies, something he and Sorcha could never accomplish. Can he open his heart again? Would that make him vulnerable to this enemy clan to murder him and his people and overtake his lands and clan? Will Maya open her heart just to break when she must leave and return to her own time?

This is the third book in Tamara Gill’s “A Time Traveler’s Love” series. I was happily surprised seeing the main characters from previous books in this series which I always enjoy. This is a enchanting, action packed, fast-paced, passionate, romantic time-travel tale weaved with true historical facts too. I know the MacLeod highland history. I knew the fictional Druminn castle, was based on the Dunvegan castle in Skye. It was for obvious reasons which I do not want to spoil for readers of this book. Also the Mòr name was mentioned in this story, but the real Rorie Mòr MacLeod is one of the first MacLeod Laird’s in history. So I love that this fictional books is on true Scottish history, but obviously a lot of Ms. Gill’s imagination too. This is a book both historical and paranormal readers will absolutely enjoy. You can read as a stand alone book but I highly recommend you read all three which I enjoyed immensely.

I wish I could give this very special story more stars. I have read a lot of Tamara's stories but this one is so special. The depth of Boyd's love for his wife was amazing. Boyd Macleod has been cursed by the Fae Queen, Titania a hundred years ago ! He had his beautiful wife Sorcha taken from him by her.
Sorcha was half Fae, when the Queen tried to take her Boyd tried to kill her and she put a curse on him. He would be immortal till he found other to love. Many lass's have tried over the last hundred years to temp him but he has stayed true to his wife and not touched any of them.
Maya Harris was an orphan who never knew her parents. While in Scotland she takes a cleaning job at Druiminn Castle. She feels drawn to Scotland like nowhere else she has been. The Castle is beautiful, and she hopes she can keep working there after the summer season. There is a Hugh tapestry of the Laird Boyd Macleod and the wife he lost to the Fae Queen. Maya has heard the story from the head house keeper, Mrs. Holmes. She has a favorite tapestry that she loves to look it. It is of Laird Boyd and Sorcha to show how she was taken by the Fae Queen. Laird Boyd is the most handsome, strong and very large man Maya has ever seen. She is drawn to this tapestry most.
When left by herself she touches it and immediately finds herself back at the Castle year fifteen hundred and ten !!!
Oh, my now the story really gets started. There is so much going on in this book.
Boyd is now a hundred and twenty-five and still looks twenty-five. He doesn't need other women trying to marry him. But when he first meets Maya, he knows something is different about her.
She thought the man in the tapestry was wonderful well he is so much more in real life.
How they work thru all the problems they will have with the evil Queen sticking her nose in
again, and other clan wanting to start a war is a story you will not want to miss.
This is a very deep story and you really need to read the events in order without spoilers to ruin it.
This is a love story that will have you laughing out loud, crying too and sighing too...
This is the third book in this series but I had no problems even thru I had not read the first two books.
I received and ARC from the Author and want to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am voluntarily giving it.

Tamara Gill’s “To Win A Highland Scott is simply magical! I love a great time travel story and this is one fantastic story that captures your imagination and holds you spellbound until the last word.

Her characters are created with depth and personality that bring them to life. Our hero, Boyd, is a man who’s been cursed by an evil Fae Queen for daring to love a woman, Sorcha was half human and Fae and taken from him. Boyd, Laird of his clan in the 15th century, is a wonderful hero that he is wracked with guilt over the loss of Sorcha. He’s resigned himself to never love again and for the past hundred years even though many women have come before him he has yet to fall in love… Until of course Maya, a 21st century woman working in his castle which has become a tourist attraction is transported back in time to Boyd’s world and castle. It’s been a century since anyone has been able to stir in him the feelings and emotions that he has for her.

Both Boyd and Maya are strong, wonderful characters that you immediately feel for. Maya, entranced by history and Scotland acclimates to the time wonderfully. This is a fated love story of two people so perfect for one another.

With Ms. Gill’s amazing imagery, dialogue filled with wit and emotions, attention to historical facts and creative imagination this story unfolds beautifully. The plot is unique, fast-paced and filled with action packed scenarios. There’s so many wonderful things to say about the magical story. I was thoroughly entrance and couldn’t put it down. Boyd was my hero and his love for Maya would melt the coldest hearts.

Thank you so much Ms. Gill for this beautifully written, enchanting tale of hearts and souls of these two lovely people destined to be together. What a lovely way you have of transporting your readers to another time and place. I look forward to catching up on all your books in the near future.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series, you do not have to read the prior ones to enjoy this. I haven’t read them BUT after reading this, I will definitely be doing so.

Boyd Maclean is laird of this clan. In the early 1400’s, his wife (Sorcha) was taken from him as she was half human and half fae. The Queen of the Fae placed a curse on Boyd. He was to be immortal until he can find love again. Boyd lives 100 years without his precious Sorcha. He will not be breaking his vows as she is alive but in another realm. He keeps hoping that she will return but so far she hasn’t.

Maya Harris lives in the 21st century. She is working part-time in the castle that once belonged to Boyd Maclean. There is a tapestry that has fascinated her. It depicted the scene when Boyd’s wife is taken from him. Maya is just a cleaner working there part-time. She is hoping for permanent employment as she just feels a connection to the place. When the tapestry’s protective coverings are removed for cleaning, Maya is enchanted to touch it. She has always wanted to touch the beautiful piece. It is like it calls to her. She may never get another chance. When she is left alone with the uncovered tapestry, she does indeed put the pad of one finger on it. Something happens and Maya is awakened in the 16th century in Boyd’s castle!

This book is written in a multiple POV format. I love that as it gives me that glimpse into the characters’ thoughts. I can more fully understand the characters and their actions during a scene that way. This book just put a spell over me. I couldn’t stop reading it from the first paragraph. I felt like I was watching a movie. Seeing these two go through so much was at times heart-wrenching (really it started in the Prologue with Sorcha being taken away from Boyd.)

This is a very sexy read. If you love time-travel with a Scottish laird of the 16th century with a 21st century modern woman, then this one is for you (at least if you are 18 or over!)

“To Win a Highland Scot” is book 3 in the Time-Traveler’s Highland Love series by Tamara Gill. They are interconnected stand-alone stories, and you do not need to have read the prior ones in order to enjoy this one. The characters from the previous books are mentioned in this one, and 2 of them actually appear in the story.

Boyd, the hero, is the strong and stoic Laird of his clan in the 15th century. For complicated reasons, his wife was stolen from him and he was cursed with immortality by a vengeful fairy Queen. Maya, a 21st century woman working at a castle in Scotland that offers tours to the public, ends up transported back through time right into the same castle, but when Boyd had dominion over it. She is very much a modern woman, but she is but beguiled by history – especially that of the castle where she works. When Maya meets Boyd, his wife has already been gone for a century. I’m not going to write much about the story itself because I always avoid giving spoilers. Especially with a story this carefully constructed, I think it’s best to let the author unfold it for you.

I will tell you that this story pulled me in right from the prologue. The characters were excellent and well-defined, and the chemistry between them was sizzling. There were some very funny moments when the gender norms of the times for the lead characters clash. I think the author did an excellent job weaving together a lot of different elements into an entertaining tapestry of emotions. This is not a quick read; This is a book to meet when you really have time to focus on and think about what is happening in it.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

To say that romance novels are my guilty pleasure is more than an understatement. Add to that a new Tamara Gill book and, let’s just say, I know I will not be sleeping on release day. In this instance, I was extremely fortunate to be gifted an advance copy of this story. WOW – Tamara did not disappoint!

This is a love story filled with friendship, passion, danger, magic, tragedy, and its own brand of justice…not to mention one of the hottest highlanders ever to grace the pages! Boyd is loyal, compassionate, protective, brawny, sexy – the list goes on and on.

With the exception of Outlander, I had yet to find a time travel series that was truly captivating. I’m thrilled that is no longer the case. Tamara’s particular mix of fantasy and romance resulted in a story that is both unique and imaginative, with well developed characters who fit perfectly into the beautiful backdrop of medieval Scotland. This is absolutely an adventure that I would escape into over and over again.

While this can be read as a standalone, I’m a series reader, and this book’s way of tying the series together was nothing short of magical (pun intended). Origin stories can so often make or break a series; this one I am happy to say does everything right. I am so excited to see what might be next for the Macleod clan and the descendants of Boyd and Maya.

**I am voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy; this is my honest opinion.

Scottish warrior Boyd Macleod, Laird of Clan MacLeod has been living a cursed life ever since the Fae took his wife from him over one hundred twenty seven years ago. He lost his heart and soul, but he continues to love on taking care of people, his Clan. When an English lass shows up he thinks she’s there to convince him to marry her and break his curse. Maya Harris touches a beautiful tapestry in the twenty first century and is thrown back through time to medieval Scotland and into Boyd’s life. Maya can’t help but be attracted to the ruggedly handsome highlander, he’s everything she dreamed a highland would be. She is quite fascinated by him, while he’s fighting his attraction and fascination with her. He loved his wife and still considers himself married after all these years, but to break the curse he must love with his whole heart. What a captivating emotional filled story filled a tragic story of young lover torn apart, a curse by the Fae, a passionate young woman traveling through time encountering a highland warrior who loves his clan and his people, who has a kind heart, but has vowed to never love again. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent story.

When the Fae are involved, unexpected things happen. Although Maya feels drawn to Druiminn Castle, being thrown back in time is not something she could have anticipated. Boyd Macleod is the attractive but cursed Laird of the castle and is not emotionally available. For Maya, that is just fine since returning to 2021 is her only goal. I enjoyed watching this story unfold as details are revealed and Maya and Boyd warmed up to each other through every day interactions. The Fae Queen popping in and out unexpectedly made me wonder just how much control of the situation with Maya and Boyd she had. With so many things unresolved near the end, I just couldn’t put the book down. Near the end I also really liked the involvement of the characters from the previous novels. When dealing with time, things clearly don’t happen in a linear fashion. I really enjoyed the story and the satisfying way things ended.

Another amazing read! This is a book three in the series, but easily can be read as a standalone. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Maya is working in 2021 in Scotland as a cleaner in Castle Druiminn. She loves her job and was excited to be helping clean the Plexiglass protecting one of the beautiful tapestry. The figures on it always called to her. Finding herself alone she dares to touch the face of the Lord on the tapestry and finds herself thrown into the past. The year of 1510 to be exact.
Lord Boyd Macleod is 127 years old, immortal, still mourning his wife who was taken away from him. He was cursed by the Fairy Queen to live forever and not see his beloved Sorcha again. The only way to break he curse is to love again, but he has no desire to ever love anyone again. In his heart he is still married to Sorcha.
If you want to find out what happens, it’s a must read.  I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story given to me by the author.

To Win a Highland Scot. I had so much fun read this Highland love story. Sigh. It was so beautiful. The writer of this romance novel has won me over ten times fold.
Oh my gosh. The writer definitely knows how to tell a story that has her readers craving for more. And believe me, I was wanting more from this book. The plot was totally not what I was expecting, but after I was really into the book, I was hooked. I couldn’t get enough of it.
The entertainment was sweet. I do not think that I came across one dull moment in the book. The writer just kept giving me more and more of a gripping story that I so easily lost myself in. The drama was sublime. Maya and Boyd, the romantic couple, were outstanding.
Their romance and their love story was full of emotion. Intense love making and passion that sacrifices were made of. I enjoyed the action along with the entertainment. What I loved the most was the romantic love story of Maya and Boyd. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Until next time my fellow readers... read on!

WOW… WHAT A GREAT READ! To Win a Highland Scot by Tamara Gill is book 3 in A Time-Traveler's Highland Love and I am just loving this medieval romance series. Yes… I actually shed a tear in this one which tells you how emotional this story was. The sparks that fly between Boyd and Maya are ones that every girl dreams about and the banter in the beginning is great too. I found the writing to be supervisor and the story very original. Tamara know how to write a story I can tell you that. This story has a lost love, a evil Fae Queen, battles, feeling alone, greed, honor, being cursed, new friendships, kindness, sacrifice, thieving, rape, murder and falling in love but can that love survive? You will just have to read to find out and I highly recommend that you do.

**Disclaimer I received this book free as an advance reader copy**

I enjoyed this book very much. This is my first time-travel romance book that I've read. I've always liked both genre's separately I didn't know until recently that it was a genre together.

The book starts out in 2021 and goes back to the 15th century. The time travel is that of fae magic making the way of time travel believable/plausible. Maya the female lead in the story is a very relatable character, she's independent, modern woman. The male lead Laird Boyd Macleod is what you'd expect from a 15th century highlander, stoic, a leader and of course handsome. I like that this story doesn't just jump into the romance it builds it. I also like that there are other aspects to the story like a battle between clans.

This story leaves room for a spin-off story which I would love to read.
