IChickenMoon. Photographs by Joakim Eskildsen. Text by Cia Lungile Rinne. Shuttle 99, Oslo, English/Nordic, 1999. In Norway. Unpaged, 60 color illustrations, 8x12¾". The fruit of a cultural/artistic exchange between the Norwegian and South African governments, IChickenMoon is a unique and inspiring tale. Eskildsen and Rinne traveled to South Africa twice where they met, spoke, and lived with the residents of several tiny villages. What emerged from their encounters were vivid social portraits, texts, and a group of rare field recordings of the villagers singing. Beautifully printed, this book deserves wide acclaim and a home in many collections. Music CD included.
A very, very beautiful book about the life & culture in small places in South Africa, written, designed and photographed by Joakim Eskildsen& Cia Rinne. The whole book, with inlaid CD, is an mazing piece of art. I consider Joakim one of the very best of Danish photographers: http://www.joakimeskildsen.com
