One Wild Weekend with Spencer

Rate this book

Her desert island fantasy is about to become sizzling reality…

When my newly divorced cousin, Beth suggests we take a weekend break at a resort in Miami, I reluctantly agree to be her wing woman and her sober driver.

After a night babysitting her at an exclusive nightclub, I’m beyond annoyed she decides to ditch me for being too much of a party pooper.

Worse she’s accidentally taken my car keys.

Luckily, the gorgeous bartender’s shift is ending, so he takes pity on me and drops me back at the resort.

I think he’s just doing his job, but when Spencer knocks on my door it’s to invite me to a private island he has access to.

After a sizzling day in a stunning location, we’re all set to return when the motor on the boat seizes.

Now I’m stranded with an incredibly sexy man I'm pretty sure is lying just to get me to stay on the island.

But after a hotter than hades weekend, I'm not not sure I even care...

WTF did I just read? There is NO character chemistry!

12 books into a series, and nearly 40 books overall I expect more from an author. This is so badly written it’s cringy. I pegged this author to be from New Zealand early on, and she’s proudly “Kiwi” in the ‘about’ section at the back of the book. If you’re going to write American characters, please have an American (who knows what they’re doing) go over the book and Americanize the language. There were several instances of “Whut? An American would NOT say it like that!” in the book. So yeah…

Then there’s the overall story. No, I haven’t read the first 11 books of the series, but as a standalone I should be able to jump in at any point and enjoy the story. That I did not. The characters were bland, a little too 2-dimensional - I couldn’t connect, have any empathy with them or feel any kind of sorry for them. The smut wasn’t all that smutty at all, my eyes glazed over a few times so I ended up skimming through most of the smex.

This was supposed to be a high paced book, but for a book of less than 40,000 words, it took me 3 days and 2 nights of falling asleep in the middle of a scene to get through this book. It just wasn’t engaging! I don’t know who signed off on this book and told the author this was “her best yet” (the yes-people all say the same thing every time), but she needs new friends. And new alphas and betas. And especially new editors. This is a big “nope” from me.

Lexi Hart has written a 5-star book. Audrey is in Miami with her cousin Beth and she meets Spencer in the bar. He is the bartender. Spencer ends up taking Audrey back to her hotel room since her cousin took the car keys. The next morning Audrey answers the door and Spencer is there. He asked, "if she wanted to go with him?" Unknown to her he is not on the up and up. Things get nasty since the F.B.I. comes to see Audrey. Spencer and Audb.rey end up going into hiding for a day or two. Audrey finds out her dad is being investigated and she might be in trouble. Audrey finds out the connection she felt for Spencer and thought he felt for her were not real on his part, he was just using her to get information on her dad. Betty's ex-husband has gotten word that Audrey needs to leave town and he and Betty are the ones who get her out of town. She gets mad at them when they take her to meet Spencer. Spencer is not out of trouble, the F.B.I agent has gotten Spencer in a spot he can't find a
way out of without doing what she wants. He has also done some research about Audrey's mother and has found she was planning to do something with Audrey before she was killed.
Will Audrey be able to trust Spencer after everything he has done to her?
This was a great read and I would recommend it to anyone.

This story is as wild and unpredictable as the others in this series. The hookup between Audrey and Spencer is unexpected. Spencer is interested, but Audrey is too tired the night they meet at the bar. Spencer gets the deal of the island overnight and invites Audrey along the next day. It is unusual Audrey goes for the random hookup. It is the mutual attraction and lust talking. They have a great time on the island. Things start to blow up in their faces when they come back. Audrey is from a family of cops and Spencer is in shady business. Audrey’s relationship with her father is complicated. The circumstance of her mother’s death, FBI’s involvement, plus her father’s power drive their situation into a three-ring circus. Audrey is a classy and tough lady. She has a close relationship with her cousin, and they are true to each other. With the lie for her father in college ruined her career and psyche, she wants to find the truth and get out from under her father’s thumb. Spencer is a rogue with a tender heart for Audrey. He is a charmer with smarts to match his pretty face. All in all a very entertaining story.

I loved this book! It's time for another wild weekend and this one is most definitely a whirlwind! Audrey is in Miami with her cousin Beth trying to help Beth get over her divorce. When Beth leaves the bar with a new guy, she takes Audrey's car keys with her. Spencer is working the bar that night and offers to give her a ride back to her hotel. She agrees and he will end up showing up later that day to take her on a job with him to a private island. She doesn't know what he does but she goes along and they have a hot and steamy time until Beth calls and Audrey rushes back. What she doesn't know is that her time with Spencer has started a chain reaction that will threaten both her and Spencer. It will also bring up her mother's death ten years ago. What she will find out will unravel everything and lead her and Spencer to be forced to leave the country for their safety. He will do everything he can to make her see that he's sorry for the part he played and that he truly wants to start a new life with her.

This series is fantastic. The characters are very secretive of their past lives, so you are always trying to figure out what they are trying to hide. Audrey is intelligent, attractive, curvy female who doesn’t let loose. She is in Miami for a weekend with her cousin who has just went through a divorce and is not taking it well. They are at a bar and she is not drinking but catches the eye of the bartender, Spencer. At the end of the night her cousin leaves with a guy and Audrey’s car keys, so she must find a ride back to the resort. Spencer offers to help her out, something he would not normally do. Audrey and Spencer have an attraction to each other. Spencer wants to act on it. Next day, Spencer comes back to the resort to invite Audrey to spend the day on a private island with him. This is an adventure with drama, suspense, danger, twists and turns, ups and downs and smoking hot passion, lust and so much hotness! It will not disappoint. It’s a page turner and the story continues up until the very last page. I loved it and I’m eager for the next one.

Secrets
This book is about Audrey and Spencer. Audrey is holidaying and enjoying herself in Miami with her cousin Beth. She meets Spencer at a bar where he works. There is a mutual attraction, but he’s not being truthful initially, and is deceptive.
He takes her back to her hotel to make sure she gets back safely. He also turns up there the following morning under false pretenses, as he has ulterior motives. There’s a connection there with her father, and there’s FBI involvement too. There was a lot going on – plenty of drama. And I wasn’t sure what to make of Spencer and times, and whether to trust him or not.
It is suspenseful, sweet and steamy. Feelings and trust issues will definitely be tested along the way. Another entertaining read in this series.

This book has a bit of everything. Some drama, suspense & definitely lots of hotness. The chemistry & dynamic of this couple was great & had me hooked from the beginning.
What started out as a night out with her cousin turns into Clara being on the run, with her hooking up with the hot bartender who has a dubious background. There are also some issues with her past coming back in a big way to haunt her, especially with her controlling father who is running for Chief.
There's quite a lot going on in this which keeps you on your toes & wanting to find out if Clara will escape her past & get her HEA.

This was a really great story. It had everything from drama and mystery to intrigue and romance. The characters were relatable and easy to fall in love with. It was hard to know whether Spencer was a good guy or bad guy. The plot twists kept me interested and trying to guess what would happen next. This was an entertaining and enjoyable story that had me captivated till the very end. Spencer and Audrey were great together and I just loved their chemistry. I enjoyed this story and I would definitely recommend it!

This book has so much drama! Every time you think you’ve figured out what’s happening everything changes. Audrey is on vacation with her cousin who is recently divorced and heartbroken. Audrey decides to let loose and ends up with Spencer, the hot bartender, who offers her a ride back to her resort after her cousin leaves the club with the keys to the rental car. The next morning he shows up and invites her to a private island for the day and she decides to go. That decision starts an avalanche of secrets, danger, revenge, and a lot of heat.

This was a fantastic book. Audrey was in holiday for a few days with her cousin Beth when she meets Spencer the bar tender at a pub.
This book had it all. Drama, suspense and mystery. It was hard to know for most of the story if Spencer was a good or bad guy. I liked that we were kept guessing. It was very hot in places, lots of steam and beautiful moments where the romance took over. I have to say that I highly recommend this book. It was a pleasure to read.

I really enjoyed this book except for the ending. I feel like the ending could have had more to it.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. The storyline as well as the characters created a page turner that I had a hard time putting down. I read the book in 2 days and am looking forward to the other books in the series. There were a lot of errors in which I was forced to reread entire sentences to ensure I was getting the correct meaning.

Torrid mystery and romance
Excellent romance quite unpredictable by the secret life and the past of the two heroes: Spencer and Audrey
The story seems to begin as a simple romance, but quickly Spencer's actions, and Audrey's slowly unfolding past, turn the story into an FBI-police adventure, and brings its share of twists and turns.
The story is very hot and gripping from start to finish with heroes that are not so cute but make the story addicting.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short and steamy romance with several twists and turns thrown in. Spencer and Audrey meet when she is ditched at a bar by Beth. It seems that Audrey is what her family, a hot bartender, a private island, and the FBI all have in common. Go figure. These two have some secrets that they are trying to keep hidden. Trust is hard to come by but they have to figure it out.

Spencer is the bartender in the club that offered Audrey a ride home after her cousin, who had her car keys, ditched her. The next day, Spencer appeared on her door and invited her to a trip to an island -- a day trip that turned into a weekend. What follows next is a wild adventure that is more than a fling for Spencer and Audrey. It has mystery, suspense and danger. It was more than the story I was expecting. I enjoyed reading it and will be reading more stories from this author.

This book is absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed it. Audbrey went with her cousin for a weekend get away and met Spencer at the bar, one thing leads to another and found themselves in a compromised situation, thankfully all went well for them. Its a standalone and a page turner, interesting and entertaining, too much drama and suspense and very steamy. I recommend this book. I received an ARC for my honest review

There is so much to learn about Spencer and Audrey. Audrey goes away with Beth. Audrey meets hot bartender Spencer who is hiding secrets and his past. Audrey's father is wanted by the FBI. Spencer and Audrey go into hiding. This is a great book twist and turns and plenty of action. Not what I expected but that is a good thing. Great characters and a really good story.

This was a very intense, fast love story. I love how Lexi brought this couple together. She has you wondering from the start what is the big secret they are both holding back from another. It is rare for it to be kept hidden for most of the book with them both so intensely wanting the other to tell them more. I would suggest you read this to find out what they are keeping a secret about.

Audrey meets Spencer when she is ditched at a bar by her recently divorced cousin and he drives her home. A bartender he is not as the slip away to a private island of hedonism. She gets back to the FBI at her hotel room door. Who is Spencer and why can’t she get enough of him? Love this series and author.

It's time to spend the weekend with Spencer. Spencer is a bartender at the bar Audrey was dragged into one night. After she loses the car keys to her cousin she was hanging out with, she ends up leaving with Spencer.
I loved the dual, first person point of view, which is always a deal breaker. This was a sweet story, Spencer was a great hero.

Man these weekends turn out to more than two or three days. Oh well, the series makes you think about what kind of suspense adventure you will have when you open the book and read the first chapter that seems sooooo innocent. Ha! gotcha! like the "what the What!" type of craziness. read it.
