The world is in ruins. Scattered pockets of humanity rule over their own territory, and by the 24th century, a merciless political group known as the Party has seized control of the nation through military force.

They'll never let that power go.

Party soldiers patrol the streets around the clock, and the citizens are watched day and night by cameras and drones. Freedom is dead, but from the darkness comes a glimmer of light - a hope of overthrowing the vicious regime.

The perfect soldier has been created. Now, it is up to the young members of Project Genesis to take the fight to the Party. But the Party have their own secret projects lying in wait, ready to counter this new threat.

Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.

He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.

His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.

Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.

Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.

Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.

A confusing storyline, too much going on, as well as a cliffhanger.

You have a totalitarian state, a bunch of pure born rebels, and a group of alien cats. Too much going on in this storyline. I do enjoy the characters except I feel this too much page space given to a psychopath. I think in this day and age we need books with positive characters who get the most out of the storyline. Not too much was made of Adam and eve. The only thing we learned was that they’re both train from birth to be killers nothing more. Too much time was spent on the bad guys in the series. Besides that the book was left Open ended on a cliffhanger. I said it before and I said it again no book should be left on a cliffhanger it should be open and close ended, who is to say that that author is going to even get to the next book. If you don’t mind cliffhangers give it a read this is it for me.

Interesting storyline

What a concept. A segment of the world in post apocalyptic times. To see the two sides against each other and the way they work at confronting each other. The characters are well developed and the story unfolds in a way to keep your attention. Looking forward to reading more.

I needed to have more time to read this first book, but raced to the end at last. I was captivated from the first and the characters were fascinatingl and well constructed . I would recommend this book to everyone who loves action, mystery and a well constructed story line. I want the next book now please.

Wow ! This was a thrilling start to this series and I was absolutely hooked. Loved the main characters and really hated another. Was easy to get really involved in the story. Can't wait to get started on the next books.

Stopped reading when author started putting his liberal BS spin on what is going on in this country right now. Not offended, just chose to spend my time on other books that don't push the authors political views instead of entertaining people with a good story. So no stars.

The story was interesting, but it jumped from character to character too abruptly - I got confused at times of who was talking in the story

I was a bit nervous to start this book as I am a big fan of the authors previous series - didn't think he could match it ! I am so glad I have it a chance, it's different but a good different.

I enjoy the detail that Devon puts into his characters, they seem to come to life. There was a lot of plot setting which I like and I feel it gives the book longevity in terms of a series of books. Looking forward to the next book.

Another great Devon C Ford offering

This is very different to other books by Devon but every bit as gripping and addictive. I am now excited to read the next 'chapter ' so I hope you are writing furiously Mr Ford as you also have to get the next Toy Soldiers finished as I'm already suffering withdrawal symptoms having read all you have written and am eagerly awaiting more, more and more. Thank you for taking me away from reality with your excellent writing.

I had the privilege of getting an advance copy of this book, and wow! If you're a fan of DCF or even just a fan of futuristic dystopian you'll love this. What makes this great is although it's set in the future, the events that cause this future state could totally happen. Fast paced, exciting and a real page turner. I can't wait for the next one.

Excellent reading for the unexpected

I liked the book because it showed the depths of which others might go to retain their freedom from a dictatorship.
