Oasis in the desert and other stories' is a collection of nine short stories, each having a unique setting, each having a unique element of originality attached to it.

Every single story takes you on a different road, where at times you're inked with the feeling that the destination shall be someplace you've already been , something you've already seen, and someone you already know, It talks about life it’s meaning, purposes and most importantly Hope.
only after reading them you’ll be able to understand the true meaning of them and of their titles.

An Oasis in the desert, The wheels of memoirs and The imprisoned Cocoon are my favourites from the nine.
These collection weaved into short stories shall definitely make you credit the author and the her thoughts. .

It is said, “The smallest thing takes up the most room in your heart” and for me those are the short stories. The collection of short stories let you experience different kind of situations in just couple of hours where you can frame your own perspective.

A book with an assortment of nine short stories holding different emotions and situations that you are bound to experience because it is life and that you cannot escape from it. The book, “Oasis in the Desert and the other short stories” by Arushi Vats comes with a complete package of love, emotion, compassion, affection, life lesson and much more. Each story portrays a moral in a very simple and beautiful language.

The stories that I liked the most are Oasis in the desert, Real Touch and the Dark Woods that were beautifully explained with emotions where you connect yourself and start thinking about the characters in the story, I certainly did. The journey of reading book was amazing as it is just a short read and you can finish it in one sitting having cup of coffee.

This 70 pages long book is divided into 9 short stories. Each story will help you see life and its subtle messages through a creative lens. The stories beautifully draw a contrast between the struggles of life and the life we intend to live in. The book resonates a pleasing message of love, care, faith, family, warmth and emotional understanding at a deeper level.

Overall, this book is a complete package of stories from different aspects of life with a few stories that also have a touch of magical realism. The writing is very simple and easy to understand. I really enjoyed reading the stories but I wish the book was a little longer. This book is a perfect fit if you’re planning to pick an easy read during the week after a hectic day. I highly recommend this book to beginners and short stories lovers.

Oasis In The Desert and Other Stories by Arushi Vats is a collection of 9 short stories which mainly highlight various emotions. Each story is different in terms of the storyline but I found a common theme amongst most of us. It was, loss, the turmoil after the loss and finally, acceptance. The writing style is very engrossing and so is the plot of most stories. Lucid language add to the experience.
It's a short and quick read with stories which will keep the reader engrossed and evoke a few emotions.

The stories An Oasis In The Desert, Dadu, A Last Letter Of Hope were my favourite. If you like short stories, I would definitely recommend this quick read to you.

Recently I am picking up light reads and the Oasis in the Dessert and other stories by @authorarushi is a collection of 9 short stories that will teach you a lesson.
Each story is different trying to convey a message to live each moment in life. Each story is based on different themes that keep the reader engaged throughout.
I liked how the author came up with different storylines that one could relate to. Each story is refreshing making the reader think about their actions twice. Yes, you never know how life may take a turn and the author wonderfully expressed that through her stories.
.
Based on the themes of Love, hope, loss and relationships the author blends the emotions well. My favourite stories are The imprisoned Cocoon, Real touch and Reborn. I loved these stories.
.
The simple and engaging writing style of the author and fast-paced stories filled with drama makes this book more interesting.
There were some stories which I thought could have a beautiful climax as they ended up incomplete. I wanted to know more about what will happen next there.
.
All the stories are simple and appealing. The crisp narration and varied interesting plots make this book interesting. Not to forget the beautiful cover!.

Genre - Fiction (Short stories)

Rating - 4.5/5

I am into short stories and I love reading them because one book is enough to read and let you know about different topics. But up to now, I've just read non-fictional short stories but not fictional so I was super excited when I received this.
.
.
In "Oasis in the desert and other stories" there are totally 9 different short stories which are about lost love, relationship with grandfather, and about a mother who lost her baby due to miscarriage, and more.
.
.
Trust me when I say this the author maintained the quality in the stories and deep meaning into them. Each short story will make you think about something or the other deeply once you read the chapter completely.
.
.
You will feel a thousand different emotions when you are reading these short stories you will cry, you'll be happy, and recall your childhood memories with your grandfather.
.
.
The language is easy to understand and anyone can read it. In all of the stories, it is slightly hard to pick your favorite but here are my most favorite stories that I love in this book:
-Dadu
-The Imprisoned Cocoon
-The Wheel of Memoirs
-The Missing Idol
-Real Touch
-A Last Letter of Hope

These are my favorite short stories from the book. Especially "The Imprisoned Cocoon" when I am reading this chapter tears were filled in my eyes.
.
.
Favorite Lines:
"To those who dwell on past memories,
I say live in them when its nightfall
When time ticks fast,
Your skin withers,
And you'll find what you were
seeking
All this while."
.
.
You won't get bored when you are reading this book and you crave for many more such stories. And I want to read the author's other two works as well because I am in love with her writing.

This book has 68 pages in it you can read this book in one sitting but take it slow feel every word and feel the magic in the authors writing which is lucid but incredibly amazing.

A MUST BUY!

"Don't lose hope when despair knocks your door every time rather believe that the seed that you have sowed will blossom into a wonderful plant. All you need to do is have faith in it."

With 9 super interesting short stories, this book is a small surprise. Written in a manner that gets to you and holds your interest and packed with beautiful metaphors, these 9 short stories leave you asking for more. There are no cliches and there are stories that are heartbreaking and others that leave you asking for more. There are people who are losing hope and others who find them.

There are a few stories that have a fantastical element to them and although I am not a fan of the genre, per se, the stories were intriguing to say the least. They held me in their grip completely. The book not for once seems preachy or high on moral grounds but it conveys important life lessons through wit. The only complain I had was I wished I got to read more stories because the way the author has written them is fun and exciting. I will take the risk and say that the book is unputdownable.

My favourite stories were- 'The Wheel Of Memoirs', 'Dark Woods' and 'Reborn' because of the topics they revolved around and how beautifully they were told. Nothing about these stories seemed made up and they don't seem to give you a false sense of hope. They are genuine and honest.

One of the issues with the book were the minor grammatical errors. I hate them so I was a bit let down but other than that everything about this book was great.

This is a book that everyone should read. It's a quick read, simple yet packed with many underlying messages of hope. I recommend it to anyone looking for a short, interesting and meaningful read.

I usually enjoy reading short stories for the different contents that they offer in a very short time. But for some reason, I have very mixed feelings about this book. After reading its blurb and cover I thought I would discover some very inspirational and uplifting stories, but all the stories were set in completely different sets and didn't fit in expectations I had from them.

Till now all the collection of short stories that I have read were built around some specific theme, but I am not sure if I observed or noticed any theme with this one. This book has nine different short stories and among them, I only liked 'Dadu' and 'The Imprisoned Cocoon' because of their overwhelming emotional presentation.

I couldn't grasp some of its stories because I felt like it lacked something. Either it was 'Real Touch', 'The Missing Idol' or Jumanji-like 'Dark Woods', these all stories were well executed and author Arushi Vats undoubtedly created their premises quite realistically but they had nothing special to offer that a reader like me could remember for a very long time.

This collection of short stories could have been better if all the stories might have created around some same theme. The author knows her way around words, descriptions, and emotions but I guess she still has a very long way to go to redirect all these skills to create something remarkable. This was not a bad read neither I was disappointed by it but I see it as the author's way of experimenting with something different.

Nine short stories make up this book. Such books are my favourite to read. There are only about 68 pages in this book. It was done in less than an hour. This was an enjoyable and easy-to-follow book. The author has used her stories to convey a variety of different points of view. Her ability to narrate a story is commendable.

"The imprisoned cocoon" and "The wheel of memoirs" are two of my favourite stories in the book. It's about a small child whose mother has a placental abruption and falls into depression in "The imprisoned cocoon." That tragedy has to be borne by the child. This saga is about a woman who, in the midst of her grief over the loss of her child, neglects her other child.
A dying woman longs to see the fulfilment of her adolescent fantasy in The Wheel of Memoirs before she passes away. What she got, however, was exactly what she wanted, or was there more to it than just that?

Overall, I found the stories to be enjoyable to read, and the narration was excellent. My opinion is that the narratives at the beginning of the novel are far superior to those at the end of the novel. There were a few stories that I didn't enjoy as much as the first ones. However, as a whole, it was an enjoyable read. There's something appealing about the book's cover. I'd be interested in reading more by these authors.

While reading short stories most of the time I feel like, the ending is too early,as It needs more elaboration. As Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore said, ‘শেষ হয়ে হইল না শেষ’.This phrase truly resembles with short stories.
Btw if you have time then try to read the History of Short Stories it's incredible.
Oasis in the desert And Other Stories by Arushi Vats is a decent book consists nine short stories.
The stories are enriched with various emotions, her sense of writing, character development is quite good. I especially love A Last Letter of Hope, The Imprisoned Cocoon, Dadu, & The Wheel of Memoirs. Truly appreciate her storylines and her writing style, and this book is written in a Lucid language. It's quite a small book of 68 pages hence I was a fast read for me. Overall a decent book with some really good and some average stories. I think the author will definitely bless us with her creativity in the upcoming future.

Title - Oasis in the dessert and
other stories
Author - Arushi Vats
Publisher - Notion press
Genre - short stories
Format - kindle

This book is a collection of 9 short stories and each story revolves around the concept of hope and life lessons. These stories help us to see life and it's subtle messages through different way. The author has expressed different emotions through these stories like broken relationships, loss, hope and all the small things of life.
The cover of the book is intriguing. The title could have been better because it is the name of the first story itself.
Each story has a deep meaning which convey a message. Some stories are outstanding but some are unnecessarily dragged.
Language used is simple.
Characterization could have been better. As it is very difficult to give justice to each character

Overall,a nice read.

Book : Oasis in the desert and other stories
Writer: Arushi Vats

This book is a collection of 9 short stories. This book is predicated on hope and the author has effectively shown through the stories how hope is the essence of life. Many folks have not been able to live a peaceful life without deep hope in our hearts. Life is unpredictable, difficult and sometimes very infamous. Things often get out of hand and out of your control. Hope helps us keep fighting and improves our chances of creating our lives better. The stories are short and fast. All the stories are emotional and interesting. My favorite is that the last letter of hope and the wheel of memories. The writing is impressive and delightful . The title of the book are attractive and admirable and can be read in almost an hour. In all, it was a  thoughtful reading.

I wasn't able to get upto reading novels because I had other commitments but this book was just there to fill my void.

A collection of 9 short stories with each about 5-10 pages long, each story can amazingly stand out as its own novel.

The stories were endearing, enticing and intriguing. It kept me hooked as the book was so short and lovely! The writing is also exquisite with amazing characters and plot for a short stories book.

I loved and found the author's perspective on a few things in the stories and you can clearly see the author put a lot of thought and effort into each story.

If you're looking for a short read amidst your busy day or a small book to get out of the slump, here you have it!

If you are up for some nice light short stories with nice plot and some moral then would surely recommend you this book. It have 9 short stories in total and every story is different from each other but correlated somehow and that's the beautiful part.

This book is a short read. If you want you can complete it in a go. My favourite one would be the imprisoned cocoon, dadu and wheel of memoirs.

The Imprisoned cocoon is about a woman who lost her baby when it was in her womb and she starts ignoring the child which is alive. After she lost her child she suffers from depression and a lot more.

Writing style as well as the author's way of story telling is captivating.

I think I will not tell much about others but they are awesome. Check this book out.

Its a collection of 9 beautifully crafted short stories. Each one of them is uniquely presented with an inner theme. Some of the stories are sad and upsetting, yet a couple of lines put a smile on my face. I enjoyed each and every one of them. In each of the stories, you will get fully engaged, and nothing is left out, as its barely an hour read. The stories are quick to get through and flow very well, takes you about 10 minutes to read each one of them. It can be read in a single sitting. Stories were unique and refreshing. Worth reading stories are packed well in a short book.

“The Imprisoned Cocoon”
“The Wheel of memories”
“Real Touch”
“A Last Letter Of Hope”

The above-mentioned titles in this book are, I think, masterpieces, and affected me more than I would have thought. I don’t mean just the quick plot, but the writing, the characters, the atmosphere, and the overall impact.

While a few stories took time to make sense, most were quite interesting. But didn’t feel monotonous at any point, things didn’t feel out of place. So, for me, it’s a 4.5 Read.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves a quick, easy short story just to get us through the odd moment of boredom. Truly a Unique collection.

This book is a collection of 9 remarkable short stories, which all have a different perimeter of life lessons.

Each story stands for the ethical value of life. I have enjoyed the reading. Because these stories are muffled with emotions. That makes sense to the dignity of the characters.

The language is rational. The characters are strongly built. Each story has a different end but implies a considerably efficient lesson one should know to cope with life.

This book is a collection of 9 short stories. These collection of stories is a very subtle way to depict the today’s scenarios, while adding the element of hope and love. The stories hold a dark shade of emotion and meaning. The writing, narration and language is very well done. The aroma of positivity is very prevalent. The cover however could be better.

As the lockdown started lifting, I was in lookout for a book that I can finish in few hours. I came across this and somehow the beautiful cover enchanted me and compelled me to pick it up.

It's a collection of various short stories which makes one feel that he has been there, seen all those happenings, all those events unfolding but is helpless. The reality again dawned on me when I read this book.

The narration is beautiful and characterisation is captivating. Various facets of life are covered elegantly. The stories at the start are worth mentioning as they bind the readers to complete the book in a single sitting.

Looking forward to read more books from the authoress

Oasis in the desert is a fascinating story of Aryan, a desert traveller with a past to ponder about. The ambience was plushingly described with every detail of nature around in that beautiful yet harsh desert. I literally felt like I was wearing VR Glasses watching the story around me. I didn't want the story to end, but my heart skipped a beat in shock when I turned the page and did not find any continuation but a new different story to start with.

Fav lines: "Aryan looked above at the dreamless night sky where the moon shone bright, cascading its luminescence over the desert."
There are more such beautiful lines in there in every story..arranged like a garland for its readers to wear.

Other stories:
Dadu - A child's mini-adventure with a train in search of his grandfather. Awesome. I was pumped up with the detailing. Still don't know how a child had reached the chain.
The Imprisoned Cocoon - An apt title for the story; All I could feel happy for was that the butterfly is out of the cocoon in the end.
The Wheel of Memoirs - A woman's fantasy journey from her kitchen to a wonderland to reminisce the beauty of her life spent. Subtle.
The Missing Idol - The detailing of Aniruddha's character was splendid. Not much of a story to discuss. Felt like an alter climax for OMG movie.
Real Touch - Unlike others, a contemporary tender story of the tinder generation. A small town girl risking to meet her online boyfriend in real life. Cute. Didn't expect a happy ending.
A last letter of hope - A letter of hope, promise, and request from a sobbing wife to her dying husband "One last hope had been delivered to the hopeless soul". Well.. It was more poetic than a mere story form. Even I would die after such a lengthy letter. Just kidding.
Dark Woods - A kid's trip to a Jumanji-like world, ended up with a message to save the wildlife. Good one. Would recommend making a short film out of it.
Reborn: Oh My... Cannot explain how much I liked this story. It was not just a rose and a note, but a larger quotation of life being said.

I was completely head over the heels with the narration of every story. I just want to own a paperback and keep it with me to read it again and again.

Congratulations @Aarushi

This book presents to us an assorted collection of short stories which surprises and makes us rethink. Author Arushi Vats has put to work her intricate observation skills to narrate stories from far and wide, which come to be diverse and thought provoking.

Each of the stories are subject to a quality of vagueness and ambiguity. Be it the backdrops of the characters, or the locations where they play their part—it is all marked by a certain out-of-the-box analysis and deep introspection. Most of them are very short and precise, and they do not meander much to reach the brink of expression. When carefully looked through, it is understood that Ayushi has equipped her tales with the dreariness that comes of unsatisfying relationships, or the grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. The voids and emptiness depicted in the stories are mostly pertaining to voids that can be fulfilled by love, care and harmony.

Having said all this, I loved how there was an interplay of innocence and simplicity lingering in the lines. The characters evoke sympathy and kindness and they make us feel as if the world is really very scarce of warmth. Even with such a promise of delivering tales that are meant to stay with the readers, the stories were not completely up to the mark. Much could have been dome with the plots as far as its imaginativeness is concerned, but the stories always culminated too soon. The endings were presumably supposed to be open-ended and they meant to trigger curiosity, but somehow, they fell short with too much information left unsaid.

The writing style of the author comes with simplicity and with a vivid attention to imbibe a panoramic approach to storytelling. The narration, although very crisp and direct, conveyed what it was supposed to. Nevertheless, a little less haste could have been expected towards the denouement part of the story. Overall, ‘Oasis in the desert and other short stories’ deserves a read from readers willing to come across some simple yet impactful fiction.

Oasis in the desert is a collection of 9 different but perfect on its note.
1. An Oasis in the Desert 2. Dadu 3. The Imprisoned Cocoon 4. The Wheel of Memoirs 5. The Missing Idol 6. Real Touch 7. A Last Letter of Hope 8. Dark Woods 9. Reborn
It perfectly shows how people tend to leave out things which can bring them immense happiness.
They do not try to obtain happiness from small things and always aim for larger ones.
People are just materialistic these days and generally tend to miss out small bundles of happiness.
Kudos to Arushi for making a perfect blend of optimism with maturness and inspiration.
Reading every story, it makes your imagination grow broader questioning yourself whether you ignore such happiness and are materialistic.
It's a coffee table book and can be read in one go.
But relishing each and every story is what a perfect book needs.
Realising the fact behind every story and forming an imagery in your mind leaves you speechless feeling that the book is worth reading.
It also shows that sometimes choosing your loved ones is not always the correct option that can get you happiness.
You have to find happiness even apart from them.Dadu is by far my favorite.
The story shows how the narrator hallucinates her grandfather's presence.
It ends on a vague note without stating whether her grandfather really came to meet her on it was all a zilch.
The Imprisoned Cocoon:-How worse can life be with a small child.
Losing your unborn sibling, father, grandmother, Sunita in form of an ANGEL sent be God and having a mother who didn't even care about the world lost in her own thoughts will make you miserably sad.
Won't give a lot of spoilers here but this is by far one of the best short story collection which I have read.
Writhing short stories is a great task as one has to jot every point and describe every aspect in a certain limit.
Arushi has definitely matched this and beautifully penned down 9 amazing stories..
The cover is minimalistic and eye catchy but taking zilch about the content.
Overall a great one to be rated 4.5/5

This book is an assortment of nine short stories, that address the topics of adoration, misfortune, demise, broken connections, and not to overlook, trust. While a few stories are fairly miserable, they will leave you exceptionally cheerful of life; and if there should be an occurrence of certain accounts, teary. We will in general ignore the seemingly insignificant details that bring us tremendous bliss and harp on those episodes that leave us miserable and feeling hatred towards our life. Arushi Vats, through her short stories, has attempted to help to remember us of these straightforward delights, and rouse us to search for them📚❤️📚

📜 Each and every story takes you on an alternate street, where on occasion you're inked with the inclination that the objective will be somewhere you've just been , something you've just observed, and somebody you definitely know, It discusses life it's significance, purposes and above all Hope. Simply in the wake of perusing them you'll have the option to comprehend the genuine importance of them and of their titles.📙📒📚

📜 Generally, this book is a finished bundle of stories from various parts of existence with a couple of stories that likewise have a dash of otherworldly authenticity. The composing is straightforward and Beautiful. I truly delighted in perusing the tales however I wish the book was somewhat more. This book is an ideal fit in case you want to pick a simple read during the week following a wild day. I strongly prescribe this book to tenderfoots and short stories darlings.🥰📚📚

📜 In the greater part of the narratives out of the 9 stories assortment creator kept the tone idealistic and moving. Truly there's sorrow yet it never gets dismal. The composing isn't the top evaluation yet the book has all the heart in the correct spots and once in a while that is truly matter.📙📒📚

I am always in awe of short story writers, their courage mostly. Its not easy to tell one in just a few pages. There’s not enough space for the characters to develop, yet they somehow adjust to the limited canvas. Uncomplainingly.

Oasis in the desert and other stories is a careful blend of everyday lives with nine stories of hope and disappointment. And the search for meaning to life.

They are titled as:
1. An oasis in the desert
2. Dadu
3. The imprisoned cocoon
4. The wheel memoirs
5. The missing idol
6. Real touch
7. A last letter of hope
8. Dark woods
9. Reborn

All nine had a myriad of emotions at display. A broken and a new relationship. Another that even time couldn’t break. Instance of courage for the people you love. Apart from these, the book’s reflections on spirituality, chronicles and nature had me thinking of our materialistic and superficial desires. How in the chase for big, bigger and the biggest, we have forgotten to enjoy the little things in life.

Reborn and Dadu, my favourites of all were really moving. I am anyway a little biased when it comes to a plot with grandparents, having missed out their company my whole life.

Some of the stories ended on quite a vague note. Or maybe it was just me. Also, the narration felt unengaging, stretched at some places. The characters in some of them I felt needed a bit of furnishing. But otherwise they did ring through me. A well-thought attempt at short story writing!

I would recommend this collection for anyone, everyone who feels lost. Especially during times lke these when hope and courage are hard to come by. And you are away from the warmth of human hands;grab this book then! It will feel almost the same.

"Oasis in the desert and other stories" by Arushi vats.
This is a collection of stories that club together lead you to a different world. We are living in a world where there are many possibilities to happen. There are many uncertainties, there are many emotions tied together, we may lose love, we may lose souls, we lost many things and searching for it throughout our time. That is the life we say.
In life many things happen even without our concern, whatever it is, all the incidents are stored in our memories where we start to recall it when we come close contact with anything that relates to it.
We all have that one love which we couldn't have, we all have that one soul that we lost and searching for it, we love to visit our grandparent's house more often and feel so sad when we have to leave. We all bind with one thing that is love. Love is everything. The love between mother and son, grandparents and grandchildren, between lovers. But do we all receive those, is that love eternal? What will happen when we lose someone who is so important to us?
If you have all these questions... You need to read this work... This work is written in a way that the author put all the possibilities and the reaction in it. You will be one of the characters in this collection... That's how it is knitted.
It is written in well-structured language... For light readers, it is a good recommendation... If you want to break from your routine I suggest this work to you.
Overall it is a good work with clean storyline. It is philosophical and emotional. You can see the life in it

" The answer to the question is found in the place where noone sees and yet it is omnipresent, always, before our eyes in the spire of our ignorance".

Some books leave a permanent impact on the reader and this book belongs to that category .Short reads have always been my favourite and many of us enjoy short reads.Have you all ever wondered ,how difficult it is for an author to tell the story ,explain the characters in a restricted area. I must applaud author for this amazing piece of literature.
This book contains 9 stories which show different scenarios of life which will make reader imagine things as if it's happening infront of their eyes.
People often run behind materialistic things throughout their life, ignoring other important aspects.Author emphasizes that happiness can be found in simple things and says it in an effective manner.
Each and every story is different from one another.Dadu and The Imprisoned Cocoon will surely take you into their world.I was completely mesmerised after reading them .The Imprisoned Cocoon is the story of a small child who has lost his father ,unborn sibling and grand mother at a very young age ,The child's life with a mother who is not bothered and busy in her own world makes its life more painful.
This book is the mixture of spirituality , morals , chronicles and many more .The author has tried to keep the positivity in the story even though stories have a lot of emotions.I feel the author wants to tell us that there will always be a ray of hope in life .
The language is lucid, engaging plot, well planned portrayal makes the book brilliant .One can finish the book in one sit .
I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to all..One should give it a try.Read and tell me how was your experience with this book.

4.5/5 ⭐
This book is a collection of nine short stories, that touch on the themes of love, loss, death, broken relationships, and not to forget, hope. While some stories are rather sad, they will leave you very hopeful of life; and in case of some stories, misty-eyed. We tend to overlook the little things that bring us immense happiness and dwell on those incidents that leave us hopeless and feeling contempt towards our life. Arushi Vats, through her short stories, has tried to remind of us of these simple pleasures, and motivate us to look for them.
I do not read a lot of short stories, and this collection has touched my heart. And I found it extremely difficult to rate this particular book. More often than not, interpreting the meaning and the lessons behind short stories are more challenging than that of a novel. It is so because a writer tries to fit a message through one single instance, or event, which otherwise could have been expanded to be written in a hundred pages.
My favourite stories from the bunch of nine here were "The Wheel of Memoirs" and "A Last Letter of Hope". Both of these felt so hopeful and sad at the same time- it shows you how even in the direst circumstances, there is hope, if not of the situation being forgotten completely, then definitely of overcoming it. The two have also motivated to make peace with myself.
However, the characterisation felt off in some parts, which has led me to rate this 4.5 instead of a full 5. Overall, I highly recommend this short, motivational and very hopeful read to all, even if you do not read a lot a short stories, you will love this collection.
