A vampire in the ultimate seat of power?

There’s only one way to destroy the Caspian vampire dynasty, but it‘ll be like finding a penny dropped in the middle of the ocean.

Everything Morgan thought she knew about vampires has flown right out the window. She’s settling into her new life as a victim of the Winterborne legacy, but there’s no time to get cozy with her new reality—especially her thirst for blood. An ancient line of vampires from which all others descend has arrived in New York City, and one of them has his eye on the White House.

But appearances can be deceiving.

Just when Morgan thinks things can’t get any crazier, her immortal uncle returns from Scotland with a family secret. Together they’ll have to hunt down a set of ancient boxes that hold the key to destroying the Caspians before the vampires invade the city and take their political candidate all the way to the top. The only problem is her other uncle keeps throwing obstacles in her way and will stop at nothing to oust her from the Clan Winterborne throne.

I have read all of Luanne’s other books. She is a master of fantasy and suspense. Savage Sons is the excellent 2nd book in her House of Winterborne series. I could not put it down and cannot wait for the third book.

“I haven’t killed him yet, have I?”

„Savage Sons” the sequel to “Dark Legacy” in the “House of Winterborne” UF Series is even better than its predecessor, don’t ask me how Luanne Bennett did it, but she fully succeeded 😉

Morgan is slowly getting into her role as head of the House of Winterborne, right on time to learn about the Legacy (or should we call it by name and refer directly as curse) and (as the old saying goes disasters follow the rule of three) face a new threat posed by the primordial vampire linage who sired them all, while (as the old saying goes disasters follow the rule of three) dealing with the unexpected visit of her uncle, who….. no… I would not tell you; you have to find by yourself, I don’t want to be accused of spoiling a single scene of this fantastic ride 😊

Luanne Bennett’s writing style is – as always- fantastic, the book is very well edited; the story action-packed, a veritable page-tuner with a balanced mix of fast-action and in-deep description, fully enjoyable from start to finish, with a smart plot that will delight urban-fantasy fans and off-genre curious readers alike.

Follow-up books in a series usually tend to be a let down. They usually lack any plot development and are often place holders within a series that could have been shorter. That is not the case with this book. I have found that with LB her books are journeys not only for the characters to grow and develop within the story, but for the reader also. This book is no different. I felt like it was possible better than the first. We get to experience what it means to be part of the House of Winterborne and Morgan's role in it in greater detail. There is the struggle for power from within between niece and uncle that gets to be explored as well as Morgans blossoming romance with Hawk. Will the Legacy end up being a blessing or a curse?? There's so suspense and I found that I couldn't put it down.

I received a free copy of this book via Luanne Bennett and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Luanne Bennett’s imagination and creativity have no bounds with this second Winterborne book. This sequel deals with finding the missing boxes and goes into greater background details of Morgan, Samuel, Hawk and Edward, plus all the other main characters. Morgan’s powers are getting even stronger and finding out that you’re more like your father is not a comfortable feeling either. Hawk has more secrets to deal with too and what will that mean for him and Morgan’s relationship? If you’re looking for something extra special then you really need to read this. I thoroughly enjoyed this second Winterborne book and can’t wait for the third book to land in my lap. I would like to thank Luanne Bennett for allowing me an ARC for this honest review.

This is an amazing continuation to Morgan and Hawks story. As the main character continues to metemorph into a strong and powerful leader, the characters that she is surrounded by, flash their lights and leave you searching in the darkness for more of them! Just when you think you have it figured out, the world of darkness sorrounds you and you are thrown into another dark hallway. The characters each have a story hiding in the darkness, just waiting to be found out. Just what you need to keep you interested?.........just wait till you read this book!

One of my favorite new series! I'm reading this as an ARC, but hadn't read Dark Legacy, so I had to read that first. I love love love Morgan! Smart, kick ass .. all the good things we want in our female characters. Her relationships with Hawk, and with Fetch are growing by leaps and bounds. One of the best things about Morgan, for me at least, is her family. The dynamics are equally hilarious and annoying. Pretty much what you would expect. I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Winter is coming

Wow I can't decide who I enjoy more Morgan or Jakob but without a doubt the war is coming and winterbornes have to win. The first 2 books of the series halp us understand the pain Morgan feels as a stranger in her own family, even though she is Queen , no one cares to listen. Cabot reminds me of all boomers and it is too bad he is still around. Ant wait for book 3!

I just can't finish this book at the minute, I'm finding it such a slog.
The romance just seems so far fetched. The feelings and intensity are too much for people that barely know each other.
The heroine does not come across as a person who would have been raised by a strong, powerful woman to be queen.

ARC member review.

No spoilers. I couldn't put it down, and I cannot wait for the 3rd installment. I have read other series of Luanne Bennett and this one brings it just like the others. A great paranormal read with lots of intrigues.

This picks up where Dark Legacy left us hanging at. This next installment of The Winterbornes was not a let down. It sucks you right in and you cannot put it down as you'll be dying to know what other secrets this family had and what is in store for the Queen!

Great read about Morgan & Hawk family saga! Love the character developments throughout the family members. Hope Morgan & Hawk decide to choose for themselves only. Cannot wait for the next installment of the series.

Thank you to the publisher for my ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that if I could have given this a 3.5 I probably would have. That being said, this novel was much better than the first one in the series. I enjoy the plot and the storyline but I’m baffled by some of the relationships between characters. I’m all for suspending my belief but Morgan’s relationship with Hawk feels fake and there’s not much substance to it. I do enjoy the ongoing tension and power struggle between Morgan and her uncle though and I’m curious how that’s going to end up.
This book offered more plot, more backstory, and a bit of a closer look into some characters. It’s was just alright for me but I would want to read the third one when it comes out to finish off the series.
