General Wauchope

A biography of a 19th century British military figure, Major-General Andrew Gilbert Wauchope (1846–1899). Wauchope came from a prominent and wealthy Scottish family, which had a long history of military service. His career saw him involved in military conflicts in Africa and Europe. A political conservative, he unsuccessfully stood for a parliamentary seat in 1892. He died in the Boer War.
