A wonderful fantasy to please everyone. Having your life saved by the very one you don’t trust, is not easy. Being the Queen makes the decision difficult. Loved it.

As the third installment in the story, it picks up and runs with the adventure.
We rejoin the characters as they continue the struggle, while also questioning a traitor among their midst. Is there a traitor? Who could it be? Why? As a reader, I can't help but make my own guesses (and possible motives for why that character would do that). There is adventure, suspense, and a main character who is searching for her own identity while being driven to stand up for others and do what is right. I received an advanced copy of the book (and voluntarily leave this review) so that I could read the story as soon as possible.

It is a fun read with enough energy to keep me turning the page to see what happens to the characters next.

Overall this is an enjoyable fantasy adventure and I am so excited to read the next installment!

S.A. McClure has really stepped up the action in this third book of the Lost Queen series with the magic of Layla and her Resistance going head to head with King Renard's tech. People die, things get blown up, but slowly and surely, Layla learns to be the leader she must be to be Queen.
I like the way these stories blend ancient races and old magic with modern settings and technology and, although she's often annoyingly insecure for a would-be monarch, I really like Layla's pluck and the way her merry band of followers come to her defense when she needs them.
Good reading for fans of urban paranormal and steam-punk fiction.

OMG! The betrayal!!!
“Crowned By War” continues the storyline from “Chosen By Fae” with Max abducted from his aunts' home at the celebration. Layla and her friends go to save Max from King Renard’s clutches. This tale takes us down the path to betrayal and lies, with non-stop action, drama, violence as the war begins and the fae and magicals finally have hope with a bittersweet twist at the end before the cliffhanger. This is the most exciting installment of the “Lost Queen Chronicles” and has me excited for the next book.

War is inevitable when the human King Renard kills an entire city of fae, and Layla must lead her people against him. She has allies of elves and supernatural creatures, but will it be enough? Especially since a traitor is giving information to the enemy?
I enjoyed this adventure so much that I need to read the other books in the series!

This genre is not usually my first pick but I LOVE THIS SERIES. Layla is such an amazing character with steady development throughout the series - she is a strong female lead that (so far) has escaped so many of the tired tropes common for female characters in books.

Really, almost all of the characters are interesting and you can actually feel that confusion of “Who can I trust? Who do I have to trust in this moment?”

Great, great series. Read it - you won’t regret it!
