Ghosted by the love of his life on the day he'd planned to propose, Knox Tobin has drifted through life on a sea of alcohol and self-pity until a freak accident forces her back into his life.
Charleszetta "Charlie" Porter had to make a terrible decision to save the two people she loved most in the world, Knox and their unborn baby. Now her precious son, their precious son, could die, and only Knox and his brothers can save him. But who will save her?
While i did enjoy this latest addition to this wonderful family saga I have to say I was so frustrated with Knox to the point sometimes i though Charlie and Kacey would be better without him thank fully he did finally get his act together Once again the Tobin family rally together as all good families do
Charleszetta "Charlie" Porter thought she was doing the right thing when she fled to France after finding out she was pregnant with Knox Tobin's child and she probably would have stayed away if Kacey her son hadn't had an accident that she needed the Tobin families help with Knox Tobin was about to propose to Charli he had even bought the ring so when she left him he totally went off the rails drifting through life in alcoholic haze That is until he gets the call telling him not only where she is but that he has a son. Can he get over his anger at the fact that she never told him about Kacey or will he let it destroy him completely if he keeps on treating her with distrust they have no chance You will have to read to see if they find a way to be together.
Knox discovers that he’s a father in an unusual way. Charlie is praying that her son Kacey survives a playground accident. We learn of their relationship and why Charlie disappeared from Knox’s life.
I want to give Knox a slap & tell him to wise up for the way he’s treating Charlie.
The marriage proposal melted my heart and what an amazing end to the book.
I highly recommend this book I couldn’t put it down
Beautifully written love story full of angst and stubbornness. Charlie is amazing; Kacey is adorable; and Knox has been downright stupid and ineffective for too many years. Plot is a bit weak but still entertaining. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
The Tobin saga continues with Straight Arrow the story of fourth son Knox Tobin, I enjoyed it, it held my attention until the end but as characters go Knox is beyond frustrating but I suppose is only living up to his birthright as spoiled, selfish and entitled! Knox and Charlie were inseparable, he assumed they'd get married, he had the ring then Charlie simply disappeared leaving Knox devastated. Five years later Knox is stunned to learn Charlie has been hiding in France with Kacey their son whose life is now in danger because of a playground accident and the blood condition inherited from his father. Charlie had her reasons for fleeing and hiding Kacey's existence, life has been hard since she left and although they undoubtedly still have strong feelings for each other Knox can't move beyond that she left. Charlie knows that if Knox can't get over his distrust they have no chance of a future together. Strong, protective Charlie definitely grew on me and I have to say Knox doesn't really deserve her! Plenty of Tobin interaction throughout this story and their usual over the top behaviour that has the ability to both amuse and annoy. I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily reviewing, all opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed reading this newest Tobin Family book. Some younger readers may not understand that events the lead female character was forced to endure, really did happen in that era. So many changes in the last forty years. So different from the 50's, 60's, & 70's.
I received a free Advance Readers Copy for this book for a fair & unbiased review. Which I believe I have done.
Knox Tobin is pretty miserable and has been for the last 5 years. He was last happy on the day he planned to propose to his high school sweetheart, after his final exam. When he got to her house she was gone. No one would tell him where she was and she wouldn't answer her phone. It was the ultimate ghosting and he hasn’t been happy since, endlessly searching for someone to take the pain away.
Five years ago Charlie was forced to make the toughest decision of her life. She was forced to leave the US and hide from the man she loved in order to keep him and their unborn son safe. The only happiness she’s had since has been from their son.
Then one day their son is in an accident and the rare blood condition to which every Tobin male seems susceptible means that he needs his father’s frozen blood supply and Knox finally discovers the truth of his son’s existence.
I enjoyed learning about the mysterious past that broke Knox, that has been referred to all through the rest of the series. Having it explained helped soothe an aching curiosity. Finding out helps the reader to understand Knox and the gaping hole in his heart.
I also liked learning more about the QRK Internet News Station that had been referred to in previous books and about the rivalries between the Clausens and the Tobins.
I felt like a lot of foreshadowing was tied off in this book, which is always satisfying and probably part of what I enjoyed about it. I also enjoyed the way Knox and Charlie interacted with both of them terribly wounded by each other and failing to communicate properly whilst family and friends stood by wringing their hands unable to help mend their loved one’s hearts.
The plot was well paced and there was plenty of room for the emotional growth of the characters. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series which comes out in a couple of weeks. I don’t know what will happen when the author runs out of Tobins!
